Exploring the combination of biochar‐amended soil and automated irrigation technology for water regulation and preservation in green infrastructure

Biochar is a carbon sink material with the potential to improve water retention in various ***,for the long‐term maintenance of green infrastructure,there is an additional need to regulate the water contents in the covers to maintain vegetation growth in semiarid *** this study,biochar‐amended soil was combined with subsurface drip irrigation,and the water preservation characteristics of this treatment were investigated through a series of one‐dimensional soil column *** ascertain the best treatment method specific to semiarid climatic conditions,the test soil was amended with 0%,1%,3%,and 5%*** irrigation devices equipped with soil moisture sensors were used to control the subsurface water content with the aim of enhancing vegetation *** soil column test lasted 150 h,during which the volumetric water contents and soil suction data were *** experimental results reveal that the soil specimen amended with 3%biochar is the most water‐saving regardless of the time *** with a higher biochar content(e.g.,5%)consumes a more significant amount of water due to the enhancement of the water‐holding *** on the experimental results,it can be concluded that the appropriate ratio can be determined within 1%–3%,which can reduce not only the amount of irrigated/used water but also the time *** technology can be explored for water content regulation in green infrastructure and the development of barriers for protecting the environment around deep underground waste containment.

Characteristic investigation of trilayered Cu/Al8011/Al1060 composite:Interface morphology, microstructure, and in-situ tensile deformation

In this work, Cu/Al8011/Al1060 trilayered composite with an ultrathin copper layer was fabricated successfully by the hybrid process of cast-rolling and hot-roll-bonding. the effects of heat treatment were investigated on the microstructure and mechanical behavior of the composite. the results showed that annealing temperatures above 300°C led to the formation of new intermetallic compounds that joined their initial counterparts. Also, the interface growth was fast above 340°C. It was found that the annealing temperature of 320°C led to the optimal tensile properties of the composite. through rolling, hard-brittle IMCs imposed intense plastic strains on the surrounding regions, resulting in further grain refinement of both metals in the vicinity of the interface. Although the kernel average misorientation of the trilayered composite was almost identical with the Cu/Al8011 bimetal,its amount was considerably decreased after heat treatment, as the distorted structure changed into a nearly strain-free one using the restoration phenomenon. the sEM-based in-situ tensile test showed that crack initiation occurred within the IMCs and propagated into the Cu strip, leading to its early fracture. However, the strengthdisplacement curve during in-situ tensile deformation did not decrease significantly due to the ultrathin copper layer.

slope eco-restoration has always received extensive attention as a positive way to reverse ecosystem deterioration derived from human interventions.A simplified frameworkis proposed to undertake a quantitative evaluation of the engineering disturbed slope eco-restoration success in the alpine region,southeast Qinghai-tibet *** daguhydropower project that disturbsthe local ecosystem to some certainwas selected as the study *** August 2018,six types of slope(soil,rock,soil-rock,spoil,construction site,hardened)were served as the demonstration test for the slope eco-restoration with two years monitoring in the study ***,the topography,erosion,soil quality,and vegetation were selected as assessment indicators of the ***,combined with the weighting method and the expert panel,the slope eco-restoration quality index(sERQI)was established and applied in the six *** results suggested that the frost-resistant ecological substrate performed well in alpine region,and the sERQI value is in accordance with the actual monitoring level with spoil slope>soil slope>construction site slope>soil-rock slope>rock slope>hardened *** proposed framework could support slope eco-restoration practitioners for making a more objective and quantitative evaluation easily for the post-implementation restoration.

tribological properties of CrN coating deposited on 20CrMo against tin bronze

A CrN coating was deposited on the piston pin material 20CrMo. the tribological properties of 20CrMo and CrN coating against tin bronze Qsn7-0.2 were compared by pin-on-disk tests under dry friction and oil lubrication, respectively. the cross-sectional morphologies and structures of the coating were characterized through scanning electron microscopy and X-ray diffraction. the hardness, elastic modulus, and adhesion strength of the coating were tested through nano-hardness and scratch tests. the wear tracks were tested with an optical profilometer, and wear volume was calculated. Under dry friction conditions, the CrN coating exhibited a significantly stable friction coefficient and a relatively lower wear rate against Qsn7-0.2 at various temperatures compared with 20CrMo. the wear rate decreased by 98.5% at 700°C. Under poly-alpha-olefine lubrication, the CrN coating reduced the load effect on the friction coefficient. Under engine oil 5 W40 lubrication, the CrN coating improved the tribological properties under high speed and heavy load conditions. simultaneously, the CrN coating changed the friction and heat flow with increasing temperature.

Reducing idleness in financial cloud services via multi-objective evolutionary reinforcement learning based load balancer

In recent years, various companies have started to shift their data services from traditional data centers to the cloud. One of the major motivations is to save on operational costs with the aid of cloud elasticity. this paper discusses an emerging need from financial services to reduce the incidence of idle servers retaining very few user connections, without disconnecting them from the server side. this paper considers this need as a bi-objective online load balancing problem. A neural network based scalable policy is designed to route user requests to varied numbers of servers for the required elasticity. An evolutionary multi-objective training framework is proposed to optimize the weights of the policy. Not only is the new objective of idleness reduced by over 130% more than traditional industrial solutions, but the original load balancing objective itself is also slightly improved. Extensive simulations with both synthetic and real-world data help reveal the detailed applicability of the proposed method to the emergent problem of reducing idleness in financial services.

Composite design of Low thermal Conductivity Mullite Brick for Application to Cement Kiln

In order to restrain cement kiln shell＇ s thermal loss and potential safety hazards,composite design was employed of working layer,thermal preservation layer and thermal insulation *** preservation layer＇ s boundary and strain were analyzed and the overall thermal conductivity was *** result shows that the sinusoidal curve boundary combination is adopted between the working layer and thermal preservation layer,and the slope-shape with angle of 135 degrees between the thermal preservation layer and thermal insulation layer could relieve the strain *** thermal conductivity of the composite mullite brick decreases from the working layer 2.74 W·m^（-1）·K^（-1） to1.54 W·m^（-1）·K^（-1）.When applying the composite bricks in cement kilns,the kiln shell temperature is from50 ℃ to 70 ℃ lower than using normal bricks.

the increasing power density of It electronics and the enormous energy consumption of data centers lead to the urgent demand for efficient cooling *** to its efficiency and safety,liquid-cooled heat sink technology may gradually replace air-cooled technology over *** the ambient or higher water supply temperature,the liquid-cooled technology shortens the operating time of the chiller and improves its coefficient of performance,while the pump power consumption may increase for satisfying the constant cooling ***,it is significant to study the optimal water supply temperature to achieve energy-efficient operation of data centers.A virtual 30.1 kW data center is considered as the case,the liquid-cooled system is constructed with a combination of innovative manifold microchannel heat sink with oblique fins and indirect evaporative cooling technology to minimize energy consumption.A hybrid thermal management model integrating the heat dissipation model and the power consumption model is established by tRNsYs and FLUENt *** the highest chip-safe operating temperature premise,the energy performance is analyzed under various water supply temperatures in *** result shows that only 21.5-hour mechanical cooling is needed with the 30℃server inlet temperature throughout the *** the minimized power consumption occurs with the constant 29℃server inlet ***,the temperature adaptive control strategy(tACs)is adopted to test the cooling system power consumption under different regulation frequencies,and the by-week tACs can achieve another 11.5%energy saving than the minimum power consumption of the constant temperature control strategy.

With the significant progress of the“coal to electricity”project,the electric kiln equipment began to be connected to the distribution network on a large scale,which caused power quality problems such as low voltage,high harmonic distortion rate,and high reactive power *** paper proposes a two-stage power grid comprehensive resource optimization configuration model.A multi-objective optimization solution based on the joint simulation platform of Matlab and Opendss is *** solution aims to control harmonics and optimize reactive *** the first stage,a multi-objective optimization model is established to minimize the active network loss,voltage deviation,and equipment cost under the constraint conditions of voltage margin,power factor,and reactive power compensation ***,the first stage uses a particle swarm optimization(PsO)algorithm to optimize the location and capacity of both series and parallel compensation devices in the distribution *** the second stage,the optimal configuration model of the active power filter assumes the cost of the APF as the objective function and takes the harmonic voltage content rate,the total voltage distortion rate,and the allowable harmonic current as the constraint *** proposed solution eliminates the harmonics by uniformly configuring active filters in the distribution network and centrally control harmonics at the system ***,taking the IEEE33 distribution network as the object and considering the change of electric furnace permeability in the range of 20%–50%,the simulation results show that the proposed algorithm effectively reduces the distribution network’s loss,its harmonic content and significantly improve its voltage.

Comparison of Reynolds average Navier-stokes turbulence models in numerical simulations of the dC arc plasma torch

Five turbulence models of Reynolds average Navier-stokes(RANs),including the standard k-ω model,the RNG k-e model taking into account the low Reynolds number effect,the realizable k-ω model,the sst k-ω model,and the Reynolds stress model(RsM),are employed in the numerical simulations of direct current(dC)arc plasma torches in the range of arc current from 80 A to 240 A and air gas flow rate from 10 m^3 h^-1 to 50 m^3 h^-*** calculated voltage,electric field intensity,and the heat loss in the arc chamber are compared with the *** results indicate that the arc voltage,the electric field,and the heat loss in the arc chamber calculated by using the standard k-ω model,the RNG k-ωmodel taking into account the low Reynolds number effect,and the realizable k-ω model are much larger than those in the *** RsM predicts relatively close results to the experiments,but fails in the trend of heat loss varying with the gas flow *** calculated results of the sst k-ω model are in the best agreement with the experiments,which may be attributed to the reasonable predictions of the turbulence as well as its distribution.

Network pharmacology analysis to explore mechanism of three Flower tea against nonalcoholic fatty liver disease with experimental support using high-fat diet-induced rats

Objective:Nonalcoholic fatty liver disease(NAFLd)has become a common chronic liver disease that is harmful to human ***,there is currently no FdA-approved first-line drug for the treatment of nonalcoholic steatohepatitis(NAsH)or *** Chinese medicine(tCM)is widely used to ameliorate liver diseases,such as the traditional ancient recipe called three Flower tea(tFt),which consists of double rose(Rosa rugosa),white chrysanthemum(Chrysanthemum morifolium),and daidaihua(Citrus aurantium).However,the mechanisms of the action of tFt are not ***,this study aimed to elucidate the mechanisms of tFt against NAFLd in high-fat diet(HFd)-induced ***:this study utilized bioinformatics and network pharmacology to establish the active and potential ingredient-target networks of ***,a protein–protein interaction(PPI)network was constructed,and enrichment analysis was performed to determine the key targets of tFt against ***,an animal experiment was conducted to evaluate the therapeutic effect and confirm the key targets of tFt against ***:A total of 576 NAFLd-related genes were searched in Gene Cards,and under the screening criteria of oral bioavailability(OB)≥30%and drug-likeness(dL)≥0.18,a total of 19 active ingredients and 210 targets were identified in *** pharmacology analysis suggested that 55 matching targets in PPIs were closely associated with roles for NAFLd *** the evaluation of network topology parameters,four key central genes,PPARγ,sREBP,AKt,and RELA,were ***,animal experiments indicated that tFt could reduce plasma lipid profiles,hepatic lipid profiles and hepatic fat accumulation,improve liver function,suppress inflammatory factors,and reduce oxidative *** immunoblotting and immunofluorescence analysis,PPARγ,sREBP,AKt,and RELA were confirmed as targets of tFt in HFd-induced ***:In summary,our results indicate that tFt can pr
