Background To investigate the optical coherence tomography angiography(OCTA)characteristics of diabetic macular edema(DMe)at different *** This study was a cross-sectional *** diagnosed with DMe were *** was classified into early,advanced,and severe *** vessel density(VD)in the superficial vascular plexus(sVP),deep vascular plexus(DVP)and foveal avascular zone(FAZ)parameters,including FAZ area,FAZ perimeter,acircularity index and foveal VD in a 300-μm-wide region around the FAZ(FD-300),were calculated by the AngioVue software.A multivariate generalized estimating equation was used to evaluate the associations between visual acuity and OCTA *** Ninety-two eyes from 74 patients with DMe were included in this *** to early(P=0.006)and advanced DMe(P=0.003),the acircularity index was higher in severe *** whole and parafoveal VD in the DVP decreased in eyes with severe DMe compared to early DMe(P=0.018,P=0.005,respectively)and advanced DMe(P=0.035,P=0.012,respectively).In the multivariate generalized estimating equation,DMe severity,FAZ area and foveal thickness were positively associated with worse visual acuity(P=0.001,P=0.007 and P=0.001,respectively).Conclusion Compared to early and advanced DMe,severe DMe showed increased irregularity in the FAZ and more extensive vessel damage in the *** severity level of DMe,larger FAZ area,and increased foveal thickness could be risk factors for poor visual *** registration The protocol was published in the Chinese Clinical Trial Registry(ChiCTR2000033082).

●AIM:To identify the differential methylation sites(DMs)and their according genes associated with diabetic retinopathy(DR)development in type 1 diabetes(T1DM)children.●MeTHODs:This study consists of two surveys.A total of 40 T1DM children was included in the first *** no participant has DR,retina thinning was used as a surrogate indicator for *** lowest 25%participants with the thinnest macular retinal thickness were included into the case group,and the others were *** DNA methylation status was assessed by the Illumina methylation 850K array BeadChip assay,and compared between the case and control *** DMs with a potential role in diabetes were *** second survey included 27 T1DM children,among which four had *** methylation patterns of the four DMs identified by 850K were compared between participants with and without DR by pyrosequencing.●ResULTs:In the first survey,the 850K array revealed 751 sites significantly and differentially methylated in the case group comparing with the controls(|Δβ|>0.1 and Adj.Pese were identified with a significance of Adj.Pese,319 CpG sites were hypermethylated and 432 were hypomethylated in the case group relative to the *** revealed that the transcription elongation regulator 1 like(TCeRG1L,cg07684215)gene was hypermethylated in the four T1DM children with DR(P=0.018),which was consistent with the result from the first *** methylation status of the other three DMs(cg26389052,cg25192647,and cg05413694)showed no difference(all P>0.05)between participants with and without DR.●CONCLUsION:The hypermethylation of the TCeRG1L gene is a risk factor for DR development in Chinese children with T1DM.

AIM:To explore the prognostic factors for lacrimal gland adenoid cystic carcinoma(LGACC)in Chinese ***:Clinical and histopathological data were reviewed in patients with pathologically confirmed *** recurrence,metastasis,and disease-specific death were the main outcome *** and multivariate analyses were performed by the Kaplan-Meier method and a Cox proportional hazard ***:This retrospective cohort study included 45 patients with pathologically confirmed LGACC between January 2008 and June ***(T)classification(P=0.005),nodal metastasis(N)classification(P=0.018)and positive margin(P=0.008)were independent risk factors of recurrence;T(P=0.013)and N(P=0.003)classification and the basaloid tumor type(P=0.032)were independent risk factors for metastasis;T classification(Ps an independent factor of death of *** the further analysis,the durations from first surgery to radiotherapy is correlated with metastatic risk in LGACC patients with basaloid component(P=0.022).CONCLUsION:Histological subtype should be emphasized when evaluating prognosis and guiding *** radiotherapy may reduce the risk of metastasis in patients with basaloid component.

AIM:To investigate the efficacy of aflibercept combined with sub-tenon injection of triamcinolone acetonide(TA)in treating diabetic macular edema(DMe)and to examine changes in growth factors and inflammatory mediator levels in aqueous humor after ***:Totally 67 DMe patients(67 eyes)and 30 cataract patients(32 eyes)were enrolled as the DMe group and the control group,*** DMe group was divided into the aflibercept group(34 cases)and the aflibercept combined with TA group(combined group,33 cases).The aqueous humor of both groups was collected during the study *** aqueous levels of vascular endothelial growth factor(VeGF),monocyte chemoattractant protein-1(MCP-1),interleukin-6(IL-6),interleukin-8(IL-8),and interleukin-1β(IL-1β)were detected using a microsphere suspension array technology(Luminex 200TM).Aqueous cytokines,best-corrected visual acuity(BCVA),central macular thickness(CMT),and complications before and after treatment were compared between the aflibercept group and combined ***:The concentrations of VeGF,MCP-1,IL-6,and IL-8 in the aqueous humor were significantly higher in the DMe group than those of the control group(all Per 1mo of surgery,the concentrations of VeGF,MCP-1,IL-6,and IL-8 in the aqueous humor were significantly lower in the combined group than those of the aflibercept group(all Pe BCVA and CMT values of the two groups were statistically different after 1 and 2mo of treatment(Pever,the difference was not statistically significant after 3mo of treatment(P>0.05).CONCLUsION:The cytokines VeGF,MCP-1,IL-6,and IL-8 in the aqueous humor of DMe patients are significantly *** and aflibercept combined with TA have good efficacy in DMe patients,can effectively reduce CMT,improve the patient’s vision,and have high *** combined with TA can quickly downregulate the aqueous humor cytokines and help to relieve macular edema ***,the long-term eff

Dear editor,The choice of surgical intervention for nanophthalmos patients with secondary angle-closure glaucoma poses a challenging decision for *** nanophthalmos patients who have undergone filtration surgery or other intraocular procedures are more susceptible to severe complications,including choroidal effusion,malignant glaucoma,and explosive choroidal hemorrhage,all of which can lead to vision loss[1].This dilemma is particularly pronounced in patients with shorter axial *** transscleral laser therapy(M-TLT),also known as micropulse transscleral cyclophotocoagulation(MP-TsCPC),is a nonincisional laser therapy surgery for glaucoma[2].In 2015,Golan and Kurtz[3]were the first to report four patients with secondary angle-closure glaucoma in nanophthalmos with axial lengths ranging between 17 and 19 mm(mean 18 mm)who were successfully treated with M-TLT,and choroidal detachment was observed in all patients(recovery spontaneously in two patients and recovery after systemic steroid treatment in the other two),of which two had a slight decrease in visual acuity.
