Use of infrared thermography to detect reactions to stressful events:does animal personality matter?

The study of the relationship between animal stress and personality for free-ranging animals is limited and provides contrasting *** perception of stressors by an individual may vary due to its personality,and certain personality traits may help individuals to better cope with *** non-invasive infrared thermography(IRT),we investigated the link between physiological and behavioral components expressed during an acute stress event by free-ranging Fremont’s squirrels(Tamiasciurus fremonti).We expected that,during the acute stress event of being approached by the researcher,individuals that showed a fast pace-of-life syndrome(bolder,more active,and less social/more aggressive)based on an arena test would exhibit stronger sympathetic-adrenal-medullary system reactivity showing a more intense stress-induced hyperthermia(high core body temperature and low peripheral temperature)than individuals with a slow pace of life(shy,less active,and more social).We successfully employed IRT technology to images of Fremont’s squirrels with identification of the individuals’body parts(eye,nose,ear,hind foot).However,we found no support for our ***’body surface temperatures told us more about a squirrel’s external environment and less about the thermal state of the body in that environment following a stressful *** studies need to assess how to make IRT effective and efficient in the field and improve its performance in studying the relationships between physiology and personality in wildlife.

The development of active yet stable catalysts for oxygen reduction reaction(ORR)is still a major issue for the extensive permeation of fuel cells into everyday *** nanostructured Pt catalysts are to date the best available systems in terms of activity,the same is not true for stability,particularly under operating *** this work,Pt_(Х)Y alloy nanoparticles are proposed as active and durable electrocatalysts for ***_(Х)Y nanoalloys are synthesized and further optimized by laser ablation in liquid followed by laser fragmentation in *** novel integrated laser-assisted methodology succeeded in producing Pt_(Х)Y nanoparticles with the ideal size(commercial Pt catalysts,yet resulting remarkably more active with e_(1/2)=0.943 V ***,specific activity=1095μA cm^(-2) and mass activity>1000 A g^(-1).At the same time,the nanoalloys are embedded in a fine Pt oxide matrix,which allows a greater stability of the catalyst than the commercial Pt reference,as directly verified on a gas diffusion electrode.

An Adaptive Hate Speech Detection Approach Using Neutrosophic Neural Networks for Social Media Forensics

Detecting hate speech automatically in social media forensics has emerged as a highly challenging task due tothe complex nature of language used in such platforms. currently, several methods exist for classifying hatespeech, but they still suffer from ambiguity when differentiating between hateful and offensive content and theyalso lack accuracy. The work suggested in this paper uses a combination of the Whale Optimization Algorithm(WOA) and Particle Swarm Optimization (PSO) to adjust the weights of two Multi-Layer Perceptron (MLPs)for neutrosophic sets classification. During the training process of the MLP, the WOA is employed to exploreand determine the optimal set of weights. The PSO algorithm adjusts the weights to optimize the performanceof the MLP as fine-tuning. Additionally, in this approach, two separate MLP models are employed. One MLPis dedicated to predicting degrees of truth membership, while the other MLP focuses on predicting degrees offalse membership. The difference between these memberships quantifies uncertainty, indicating the degree ofindeterminacy in predictions. The experimental results indicate the superior performance of our model comparedto previous work when evaluated on the Davidson dataset.

Recent progress in carbonaceous materials based Z-scheme and Sscheme heterojunctions for photocatalytic clean energy generation

carbonaceous materials including carbon nanotubes/nanofibers, graphene, graphene oxide, reduced graphene oxide,graphyne, graphdiyne, carbon quantum dots and fullerenes have gained considerable attention in the recent years for their unique properties such as high conductivity, excellent stability and biocompatibility. The integration of these carbonaceous materials into Zscheme and S-scheme heterojunctions has emerged as a transformative strategy to enhance the photocatalytic efficiency for energy conversion applications. This review delves into the fundamental principles of clean energy generation such as photocatalytic H2generation and cO2reduction, elucidating their respective mechanisms and advantages. Furthermore, various types of carbonaceous materials, their synthesis and construction of Z-scheme and S-scheme heterojunctions are discussed emphasizing their role in promoting charge separation, reducing recombination losses and extending the spectral response range. With the focus on solar fuel production,the recent advancements in carbonaceous based Z-scheme and S-scheme heterojunctions are discussed and summarized for photocatalytic H2generation and cO2reduction. Lastly, the current bottlenecks and challenges in the field of carbonaceous based photocatalysts are discussed with the valuable insights for future development in this particular field.

Dielectric and physico-chemical behavior of single thermally thick wood blocks under microwave assisted pyrolysis

Pyrolysis of thermally thick beech wood blocks with a size of around 2.5×8×6 cm^(3)(width×length×height)was carried out in a lab scale microwave reactor with a frequency of 2.45 GHz,operated,both,at 300 W and 600 W under inert conditions,using N_(2) at around 400 mbar absolute *** microwave cavity had a size of 20×20×20 cm^(3).The specific energy supply referred to the untreated wood block was 4-8 W/g,with slight variations depending on the initial water *** mass loss and the reflected microwave power were in-situ monitored during the *** sample surface and chamber temperatures were measured with a pyrometer and a thermocouple,***-chemical and dielectric properties of the produced solids were investigated and compared to those of chars produced under conventional pyrolysis using the same raw *** is shown that the complex dielectric permittivity of the solid products changed drastically during the pyrolysis process,with increasing heating properties as the conversion process *** was easily achieved using 60o W without ***,300 W was not enough to achieve a high conversion degree,independently of the irradiation ***,together with the physico-chemical analyses of the solids,hinted to the importance of the transport kinetics in thermally thick materials,although further investigationis still required.

The inhomogeneous incompressible Hall-MHD system with only bounded density

This paper is dedicated to the global-in-time existence and uniqueness issues of solutions for the inhomogeneous incompressible Hall-magnetohydrodynamics(MHD) system with merely bounded density. In a three-dimensional case, assuming that the initial density is a small perturbation of a positive constant in the L∞norm, we prove global well-posedness for small initial velocity and magnetic fields in critical Besov spaces. Next, we consider the so-called 21/2D flows for the inhomogeneous Hall-MHD system(that is 3D flows independent of the vertical variable) and establish the global existence of strong solutions by only assuming that the initial magnetic field is small in critical spaces and the initial density is bounded and bounded away from zero. In particular, those solutions allow piecewise constant density with jumps so that a mixture of fluids can be considered. compared with inhomogeneous incompressible Navier-Stokes equations, the new difficulties of proving these results come from the additional so-called Hall term, which endows the magnetic equation with a quasi-linear character. In order to overcome them, we reformulate the system by taking advantage of the curl form of the magnetic equation and develop some new maximal regularity estimates for the Stokes system with just bounded coefficients.

We present a novel approach for Stimulated Raman Scattering(SRS)spectroscopy in which a hyper spectral resolution and high-speed spectral acquisition are achieved by employing amplified offset-phase controlled fs-pulse *** investigate the method by solving the coupled non-linear Schrödinger equations and validate it by numerically characterizing SRS in molecular nitrogen as a model *** spectral resolution of the method is found to be determined by the inverse product of the number of pulses in the burst and the intraburst pulse *** SRS spectrum is obtained through a motion-free scanning of the offset phase that results in a sweep of the Raman-shift *** to high spectral resolution and fast motion-free scanning the technique is beneficial for a number SRS-based applications such as gas sensing and chemical analysis.

Unmet needs exist in metabolic dysfunction-associated steatotic liver disease(MASLD)risk *** ability to identify patients with MASLD with advanced fibrosis and at higher risk for adverse outcomes is still *** novel biomarkers could represent a meaningful improvement to current risk *** this aim,omics technologies have revolutionized the process of MASLD biomarker discovery over the past *** the research in this field is thriving,much of the publication has been haphazard,often using single-omics data and specimen sets of convenience,with many identified candidate biomarkers but lacking clinical validation and *** we incorporate these biomarkers to direct patients’management,it should be considered that the roadmap for translating a newly discovered omics-based signature to an actual,analytically valid test useful in MASLD clinical practice is rigorous and,therefore,not easily *** article presents an overview of this area’s current state,the conceivable opportunities and challenges of omics-based laboratory diagnostics,and a roadmap for improving MASLD biomarker research.
