Aqueous rechargeable zinc-ion battery(ZIB)is considered to be a potential energy storage system for large-scale applications due to its environmental friendliness,high safety,and low ***,it remains challenging to develop suitable cathode materials with high specific capacity and long-term cyclic ***,we have fabricated freestanding Sr0.19V2O51.3H2O/carbon nanotubes(SrVO/CNTs)composite films with different mass ratios by incorporating SrVO into CNTs *** synthesized SrVO possesses a large interlayer spacing of 1.31 nm,which facilitates Zn(2+)***,the SrVO/CNTs composite film with conductive network structure promotes electron transfer and ensures good contact between SrVO and CNTs during the long-term cycling *** a result,the battery based on the SrVO/CNTs composite cathode with a mass ratio of 7:3 delivers a specific capacity of 326 mAh·g^(-1)at 0.1 A·g^(-1)and 145 mAh·g^(-1)at 5 A·g^(-1),demonstrating a high capacity and excellent rate ***,the assembled ZIB shows good capacity retention of 91%even after ultra-long cycling for 7500 cycles at a high current rate of 5 Ag^(-1).More importantly,the battery also delivers a high energy density and power density,as 290 Wh·kg^(-1)at 125 W·kg^(-1)(0.1 A·g^(-1)),or 115 Wh·kg^(-1)at 6078 W·kg^(-1)(5 Ag^(-1)).The results demonstrate that the SrVO/CNTs composite is a promising cathode toward large-scale energy storage applications.

T Parallel wire strands(PWSs),which are widely used in prestressed steel structures,are typically in highstress *** fire conditions,significant creep effects occur,reducing the prestress and influencing the mechanical behavior of *** there is no existing approach to analyze their creep behavior,this study experimentally investigated the elevated temperature creep model of PWSs.A charge-coupled camera system was incorporated to accurately obtain the deformation of the specimen during the elevated temperature creep *** was concluded that the temperature level had a more significant effect on the creep strain than the stress level,and 450℃ was the key segment point where the creep rate varied *** comparing the elevated temperature creep test results for PWSs and steel strands,it was found that the creep strain of PWSs was lower than that of steel strands at the same temperature and stress *** parameters in the general empirical formula,the Bailey–Norton model,and the composite timehardening model were fitted based on the experimental *** evaluating the accuracy and form of the models,the composite time-hardening model,which can simultaneously consider temperature,stress,and time,is recommended for use in the fire-resistance design of pre-tensioned structures with PWSs.

High-concentration nitrite-containing wastewater that presents extreme toxicity to human health and organisms is difficult to be treated using traditional biological process. In this study, a novel microwave-enhanced chemical reduction process （MeCRP） using sulfarninic acid （SA） was proposed as a new manner to treat such type of wastewater. Based on lab-scale experiments, it was shown that 75%-80% nitrite （NO2-） could be removed within time as short as 4 min under 50 W microwave irradiation in pH range 5-10 when molar ratio of SA to nitrite （SA/NO2-） was 0.8. Pilot-scale investigations demonstrated that MeCRP was able to achieve nitrite and chemical oxygen demand （COD） removal with efficiency up to 80% and 20%, respectively under operating conditions of SA concentration 80 kg/m3, SA/NO2- ratio 0.8, microwave power 3.4 kW, and stirring time 3 min. Five-day biological oxygen demand （BODs）/COD value of treated effluent after MeCRP was increased from 0.05 to 0.36 （by 620%）, which clearly suggested a considerable improvement of biodegradability for subsequent biological treatment. This study provided a demonstration of using microwave irradiation to enhance reaction between SA and nitrite in a short time, in which nitrite in wastewater was completely converted into nitrogen gas without leaving any sludge and secondary pollutants.

This work was designed to explore the characteristics of photodegradation of herbicides in the copper-polluted water body. The results showed that Cu（Ⅱ） alone could induce a photo Fenton-like reaction to enhance the degradation of atrazine, in which hydroxyl radical （.OH） was a main active species. Humic acids restrained atrazine degradation, nevertheless, when introducing Cu（Ⅱ）, the photodegradation was accelerated, in which singlet oxygen （102） replaced -OH acting as the prevailing species. A feasible mechanism for the photochemical process was also proposed, which is helpful for better understanding the environmental photochemistry of atrazine in the copper-polluted water.

P Fractions in Drainage Waters from the Broadbalk Continuous Wheat experiment at Rothamsted

Total P (TP), total participate P (PP), total dissolved P (TDP), molybdatereactive P (MRP) and dissolved organic P (DOP) were determined in waters from pipe-drains (at 65-cmdepth) from the Broadbalk experiment at Rothamsted Research, UK. Average TPand PP exceeded 1 mgL^(-1) in about half of the 12 plots receiving superphosphate for the 5 measurements taken betweenDecember 2000 and April 2001. Ranging between 33.8% and 87.3% of TP, PP was the largest P fractionin drainage waters, with DOP, ranging from 0.5% to 26.2% of TP, being the smallest fraction Meanproportions of PP, MRP and DOP in TP in drainage waters were 63.4%, 32.5% and 4.1%, *** findings support previous findings that P losses from soil to drainage waters were muchlargerthan previously thought, and could therefore make a significant contribution to eutrophication.

Biodegradation of geosmin in drinking water by novel bacteria isolated from biologically active carbon

Three strains of Gram-negative bacteria capable of removing geosmin from drinking water were isolated from biologically active carbon and identified to be Chryseobacterium sp., Sinorhizobium sp. and Stenotrophomonas sp. based on physio-biochemistry analysis and 16S rRNA gene sequence analysis. Removal efficiencies of 2 mg/L geosmin in mineral salts medium were 84.0%, 80.2% and 74.4% for Chryxeobacterium sp., Sinorhizobium sp. and Stenotrophomonas sp., respectively, while removal efficiencies of 560 ng/L geosmin in filter influent were 84.8%, 82.3% and 82.5%, respectively. The biodegradation of geosmin was determined to be a pseudo first-order reaction, with rate constants at 2 mg/L and 560 ng/L being 0.097 and 0.086 day-1, 0.089 and 0.084 day-1, 0.074 and 0.098 day-1 for the above mentioned degraders, respectively. The biomass of culture in the presence of geosmin was much higher than that in the absence of geosmin.

The impact of decreased biodiversity on ecosystem stability,or the diversity-stability （D-S） relationship,is one of the major concerns of modern ecological *** on the D-S relationship for soil microbial communities began in 2000 when the fumigation method was developed to generate different levels of soil microbial *** studies used various measures and levels of biodiversity,and covered several functional *** to the lack of general concepts and reliable approaches to define microbial species,studies on the D-S relationship of soil microbial communities concentrate on genetic diversity and functional diversity more than species *** results were observed in various studies on D-S relationship with possible factors affecting or even changing the directions of the D-S relationship including：（1） the methods of stability measurement,（2） the techniques in microbial diversity measurement,（3） the measures and levels of diversity,（4） the type and strength of disturbance,（5） the traits of functions,and （6） the hidden treatments stemming from diversity *** argue that future studies should take diversity,species composition and interaction,and soil environmental conditions holistically into account in D-S studies to develop modeling to predict soil functional *** also suggest that studies should be carried out on a wider range of disturbance types and functional parameters,and efforts be shifted towards long-term field studies.

The highly efficient inorganic polymer flocculants （IPFs） of the ferric-silica system is a new and promising coagulant. Interactions between ferric species and silica play a large part in the coagulation of suspensions. These effects are quite distinct from those associated with polymeric or colloid silica. However, although these species are key to coagulation efficiency, they have not been comprehensively discussed. A new type of coagulant, poly-silica-ferric-chloride （PFSC）, was synthesized by co-polymerization and characterized by time complexation spectroscopy and photon correlation spectroscopy. Compared with traditional ferric salt, the results indicated that PFSC had a higher molecular weight, lesser positive charge, lower Feb and higher Fec. The higher the Si/Fe ratio, the higher the silica and lower the silicac found. The PFSC with appropriate polysilica acid not only obtained better coagulation/flocculation efficiency in turbidity removal, enhanced the flocculation index （FI） and provided less residual ferric, it also lowered water treatment costs compared to traditional ferric salt. Results showed that PFSC could remove colloid particles in water by charge neutralization and sweeping, adsorption bridging mechanism.

The larvae of Styela canopus show the highest rates of settlement and metamorphosis when treated with 40 mM KCl-elevated seawater at 25 degreesC in temperature and 27.0 in salinity. Induced by 40 mM KCl-elevated seawater, it took Styela canopus larvae approximately 3 h after hatching to develop competence to settle and metamorphose. The present experiment shows that Styela canopus larvae is an ideal model organism for examining the efficiency of antifouling substance.
