Transforming growth factor-beta 1(TGF-β1)has been extensiv.ly studied for its p.eiotrop.c effects on central nerv.us system *** neurop.otectiv. or neurotoxic effects of TGF-β1 in sp.cific brain areas may dep.nd on the p.thological p.ocess and cell typ.s ***-gated sodium channels(v.SCs)are essential ion channels for the generation of action p.tentials in neurons,and are inv.lv.d in v.rious neuroexcitation-related ***,the effects of TGF-β1 on the functional p.op.rties of v.SCs and firing p.op.rties in cortical neurons remain *** this study,we inv.stigated the effects of TGF-β1 on v.SC function and firing p.op.rties in p.imary cortical neurons from *** found that TGF-β1 increased v.SC current density in a dose-and time-dep.ndent manner,which was attributable to the up.egulation of Nav..3 *** v.SC current density and Nav..3 exp.ession were significantly abolished by p.eincubation with inhibitors of mitogen-activ.ted p.otein kinase kinase(p.98059),p.8 mitogen-activ.ted p.otein kinase(SB203580),and Jun NH2-terminal kinase 1/2 inhibitor(Sp.00125).Interestingly,TGF-β1 significantly increased the firing threshold of action p.tentials but did not change their firing rate in cortical *** findings suggest that TGF-β1 can increase Nav..3 exp.ession through activ.tion of the ERK1/2-JNK-MAp. p.thway,which leads to a decrease in the firing threshold of action p.tentials in cortical neurons under p.thological ***,this contributes to the occurrence and p.ogression of neuroexcitatory-related diseases of the central nerv.us system.

Introduction: Enterococci are members of the healthy human intestinal flora, but are also leading causes of highly antibiotic-resistant infections. Serious enterococcal infections are often difficult to treat since the organisms hav. a tremendous cap.city to acquire resistance to p.nicillin, high concentration of aminoglycoside & v.ncomycin. Careful rev.ew of in v.tro suscep.ibility data is required to treat infections caused by Mdr.Enterococci. Therefore we conducted the study to find out p.ev.lence of Mdr.Enterococci. Aims & Objectiv.s: To study the p.ev.lence of v.ncomycin resistance, High Lev.l Strep.omycin Resistance (HLSR) & High Lev.l Gentamicin Resistance (HLGR) in different enterococcal isolates. Materials & Methods: Total 180 enterococcal isolates were studied. Identification was done by conv.ntional biochemical methods. Antibiotic suscep.ibility testing was done by Kirby-Bauer disc diffusion method on Mueller–Hinton agar and results were interp.eted as p.r CLSI guidelines. HLSR & HLGR was determined by disc diffusion method using high lev.l Gentamicin disc (120 μg) & Strep.omycin (300 μg) discs. Minimum inhibitory concentration (MIC) determination for v.ncomycin was done by v.ncomycin E test strip.. Results: Total 180 entetococcal isolates were studied. E. faecalis was 60%, E. faecium was 32.2%, E. durans and E. raffinosus were 4.4% & 3.3% resp.ctiv.ly. Enterococcus fecium showed resistance in high p.rcentage as comp.red to E. faecalis. 15 isolates were found to be v.ncomycin resistant. Conclusion: Resistance to aminoglycoside is of great concern. Regular screening of enterococcal isolates for v.ncomycin resistance detection should be imp.emented. It is v.ry imp.rtant to imp.ement infection control measures, screening of health care workers, surv.illance cultures in intensiv. care units which can control sp.ead of multidr.g resistant enterococci.

Conjugated aromatic azomethines containing a carbazole group.were synthesized. Their structures hav. been confirmed by IR, MS and Uv.sp.ctrometries. When iodine was used as the dop. to the conjugated comp.unds, the electrical conductiv.ties （EC） of the dop.d conjugated comp.unds were increased by sev.ral orders of magnitude. The thermal stability of these two comp.unds inv.stigated by TGA shows a good result, which guarantees the correct result of EC when the comp.unds are heated. As can be seen from the Cv.characterization of the electrochemical p.op.rties of these two comp.unds, the azomethine diamine and p.aminop.enyl-9-ethylcarbazolyl azomethine p.ssess electrochemical activ.ty, which arises from the heteroatom of molecules.

Fructus cnidii （Chinese name shechuangzi） is the fruit p.oduced by Cnidium monnieri （L.） Cusson （Umbelliferae）. It is a p.rennial herb that is used to treat skin-related diseases and gynecop.thyell. Recent p.armacological studies hav. rev.aled crude extracts or comp.nents isolated from fructus cnidii p.ssess antiallergic, antip.uritic, antidermatop.ytic, antibacterial, antifungal, and antiosteop.rotic activ.ties. Osthole and imp.ratorin are the major comp.unds p.esent in shechuangzi. They are often used as standards for the ev.luation of the quality of shechuangzi p.oducts.

The authors p.rformed ionic liquid-based microwav.-assisted liquid-liquid microextraction（IL-based MALLME） coup.ed with high p.rformance liquid chromatograp.ic sep.ration for the determination of 6 sulfonamides （SAs） from animal oils. The target analytes were extracted from animal oil samp.es with sodium hydr.xide solution containing 1-butyl-3-methylimidazolium tetrafluoroborateand as the extraction solv.nt under microwav. irradiation. The exp.rimental p.rameters of the IL-based MALLME, including typ.s of ILs, v.lume of IL, amount of ion-p.iring agent（NHap.6）, p. v.lue of samp.e solution, and extraction temp.rature and time were ev.luated. The limits of detection and quantification obtained were in a range of 0.4--0.5μg/kg and a range of 1.2--1.8μg/kg, resp.ctiv.ly. The accuracy of the method was ev.luated by analyzing fiv. sp.ked animal oil samp.es at two fortified lev.ls（5 and 50μg/kg）, and the recov.ries of SAs v.ried from 81.4% to 114.5% with relativ. standard dev.ations ranging from 0.8% to 9.0%.

The v.rus-like p.rticle（v.p.） v.ccine is an ideal HIv.1 v.ccine, which can simultaneously induce a neutralizing antibody reaction and cell-mediated immunity effectiv.ly. In this study, two kinds of p.asmids hav. been used, one can exp.ess the HIv.1 main structure p.oteins, Gagp.l and Env. and the other contains an antibiotic gene. The two kinds of p.asmids hav. been cotransfected into 293 cells. A stable cell line that can exp.ess Gagp.l and Env.p.oteins efficiently and lastingly has been screened. It has been confirmed that Gagp.l and Env.p.oteins in the cell culture sup.rnatant can be self-assembled into v.rus-like p.rticles. The authors hav. detected the secretion of v.p. in the cell medium, defined the p.ak of the secretion, and followed and monitored the stability of exp.ession.
