Introduction: A traumatic brain injury (TBI) is caused by a forceful bump. blow, or jolt to the head or body, or by an object that p.erces the skull and interrup.s the normal function of the brain. Severe TBI is estimated at 73 cases p.r 100,000 p.op.e. The mortality of severe TBI can be reduced if a timely diagnosis and treatment of the injuries are made through p.ognostic factors. Objective: To determine the p.ognostic factors related to mortality in severe traumatic brain injury at the Hosp.tal General de Zona No. 46. Material and Methods: Retrosp.ctive, cross-sectional and descrip.ive study in beneficiaries admitted to the Hosp.tal General de Zona (HGZ) No. 46 of the Mexican Institute of Social Security (IMSS by its acronym in Sp.nish), with a diagnosis of severe TBI;the p.ssible p.ognostic factors related to mortality of severe TBI were obtained from their records. Measures of central tendency and chi square were used for data analysis. Results: The study samp.e consisted of 60 subjects diagnosed with severe traumatic brain injury, of which 5 (8%) were women and 55 (92%) were men, and all 60 (100%) p.tients died. The average age of the samp.e was 26 with a standard deviation of 9 years. The variables that had a p.value less than or equal to 0.05 were: Mydr.asis, seizures, Hyp.rglycemia, Normoglycemia, Hyp.thermia and Hyp.tension. This means that these variables were associated with mortality. Conclusion: Statistical significance is demonstrated in p.ognostic factors of mortality in severe traumatic brain injury with p.dr.asis, seizures, hyp.rglycemia, normoglycemia, hyp.thermia and hyp.tension.

Automatic diagnosis of diabetic retinop.thy using vision transformer based on wide-field op.ical coherence tomograp.y angiograp.y

Diabetic retinop.thy(dr.is one of the major causes of visual imp.irment in adults with *** coherence tomograp.y angiograp.y(OCTA)is nowadays widely used as the golden criterion for diagnosing ***,wide-field OCTA(WF-OCTA)p.ovided more abundant information including that of the p.rip.eral retinal degenerative changes and it can contribute in accurately diagnosing *** need for an automatic dr.diagnostic system based on WF-OCTA p.ctures attracts more and more attention due to the large diabetic p.p.lation and the p.evalence of retinop.thy *** this study,automatic diagnosis of dr.using vision transformer was p.rformed using WF-OCTA images(12 mm×12 mm single-scan)centered on the fovea as the ***-OCTA images were automatically classified into four classes:No dr.mild nonp.oliferative diabetic retinop.thy(Np.0},moderate to severe Np.0}and p.oliferative diabetic retinop.thy(p.0}.The p.op.sed method for detecting dr.on the test set achieves accuracy of 99.55%,sensitivity of 99.49%,and sp.cificity of 99.57%.The accuracy of the method for dr.staging reaches up.to 99.20%,which has been p.oven to be higher than that attained by classical convolutional neural network *** show that the automatic diagnosis of dr.based on vision transformer and WF-OCTA p.ctures is more effective for detecting and staging dr.

The influence of a mechanical structure's volume increment on the volume p.wer density (Vp.) of triboelectric nanogenerators (TENGs) is often neglected when considering surface charge density and surface p.wer density. This p.p.r aims to addr.ss this gap.by introducing a standardized Vp. metric for a more comp.ehensive evaluation of TENG p.rformance. The study sp.cifically focuses on 2 frequency-up.mechanisms, namely, the integration of p.anetary gears (p.-TENG) and the imp.ementation of a double-cantilever structure (DC-TENG), to investigate their imp.ct on Vp.. The study reveals that the p.-TENG achieves the highest volume average p.wer density, measuring at 0.92 W/m^(3). This value surp.sses the DC-TENG by 1.26 times and the counterp.rt TENG by a magnitude of 69.9 times. Additionally, the p.-TENG demonstrates sup.rior average p.wer outp.t. These findings introduce a new ap.roach for enhancing TENGs by incorp.rating frequency-up.mechanisms, and highlight the imp.rtance of Vp. as a key p.rformance metric for evaluating TENGs.
