In response to the inc.easing penetration of volatile and uncertain renewable energy,the regional transmission organizations(RTOs)have been recently focusing on enhancing the models of pump storage hydropower(PSH)plants,which are one of the key flexibility assets in the day-ahead(DA)and real-time(RT)markets,to further boost their flexibility provision potentials.Inspired by the recent research works that explored the potential benefits of excluding PSHs’cost-related terms from the objective functions of the DA market clearing model,this paper completes a rolling RT market scheme that is compatible with the DA market.Then,with the vision that PSHs could be permitted to submit state-of-charge(SOC)headrooms in the DA market and to release them in the RT market,this paper uncovers that PSHs could inc.ease the total revenues from the two markets by optimizing their SOC headrooms,assisted by the proposed tri-level optimal SOC headroom model.Specifically,in the proposed tri-level model,the middle and lower levels respectively mimic the DA and RT scheduling processes of PSHs,and the upper level determines the optimal headrooms to be submitted to the RTO for maximizing the total revenue from the two markets.Numerical case studies quantify the profitability of the optimal SOC headroom submissions as well as the associated financial risks.

Sinc. the fully convolutional network has achieved great success in semantic segmentation,lots of works have been proposed to extract discriminative pixel representations.However,the authors observe that existing methods still suffer from two typical challenges:(i)The intra-class feature variation between different scenes may be large,leading to the difficulty in maintaining the consistency between same-class pixels from different scenes;(ii)The inter-class feature distinc.ion in the same scene could be small,resulting in the limited performance to distinguish different classes in each scene.The authors first rethink se-mantic segmentation from a perspective of similarity between pixels and class centers.Each weight vector of the segmentation head represents its corresponding semantic class in the whole dataset,which can be regarded as the embedding of the class center.Thus,the pixel-wise classification amounts to computing similarity in the final feature space between pixels and the class centers.Under this novel view,the authors propose a Class Center Similarity(CCS)layer to address the above-mentioned challenges by generating adaptive class centers conditioned on each scenes and supervising the similarities between class centers.The CCS layer utilises the Adaptive Class Center Module to generate class centers conditioned on each scene,which adapt the large intra-class variation between different scenes.Specially designed Class Distance Loss(CD Loss)is introduced to control both inter-class and intra-class distances based on the predicted center-to-center and pixel-to-center similarity.Finally,the CCS layer outputs the processed pixel-to-center similarity as the segmentation prediction.Extensive experiments demonstrate that our model performs favourably against the state-of-the-art methods.

Magnesium(Mg)alloys are considered to be a new generation of revolutionary medical metals.Laser-beam powder bed fusion(PBF-LB)is suitable for fabricating metal implants withpersonalized and complicated structures.However,the as-built part usually exhibits undesirable microstructure and unsatisfactory performance.In this work,WE43 parts were firstly fabricated by PBF-LB and then subjected to heat treatment.Although a high densification rate of 99.91%was achieved using suitable processes,the as-built parts exhibited anisotropic and layeredmicrostructure with heterogeneously precipitated Nd-rich intermetallic.After heat treatment,fine and nano-scaled Mg24Y5particles were precipitated.Meanwhile,theα-Mg grainsunderwent recrystallization and turned coarsened slightly,which effectively weakened thetexture intensity and reduced the anisotropy.As a consequence,the yield strength and ultimate tensile strength were significantly improved to(250.2±3.5)MPa and(312±3.7)MPa,respectively,while the elongation was still maintained at a high level of 15.2%.Furthermore,the homogenized microstructure reduced the tendency of localized corrosion and favoredthe development of uniform passivation film.Thus,the degradation rate of WE43 parts was decreased by an order of magnitude.Besides,in-vitro cell experiments proved their favorable biocompatibility.

MET gene alterations in lung cancer patients mainly inc.ude exon 14 skipping and gene amplification,which are the key therapeutic targets and drive resistance to tyrosine kinase inhibitors(TKls).1 However,the structural variants of MET,such as MET fusions,are much rarer(0.26%),as reported in a Chinese non-small cell lung cancer(NSCLC)cohort.2 Several recurrent MET fusions,such as KIF5B-MET and HLADRB1-MET,were reported as oncogenic drivers and showed favorable responses to crizotinib.

Decentralized finance(DeFi)is a general term for a series of financial products and services.It is based on blockchain technology and has attracted people’s attention because of its open,transparent,and intermediary free.Among them,the DeFi ecosystem based on Ethereum-based blockchains attracts the most attention.However,the current decentralized financial system built on the Ethereum architecture has been exposed to many smart contract vulnerabilities during the last few years.Herein,we believe it is time to improve the understanding of the prevailing Ethereum-based DeFi ecosystem security issues.To that end,we investigate the Ethereum-based DeFi security issues:1)inherited from the real-world financial system,which can be solved by macro-control;2)induced by the problems of blockchain architecture,which require a better blockchain platform;3)caused by DeFi invented applications,which should be focused on during the project development.Based on that,we further discuss the current solutions and potential directions ofDeFi security.According to our research,we could provide a comprehensive vision to the research community for the improvement of Ethereum-basedDeFi ecosystem security.

Scene-based recommendation has proven its usefulness in E-commerce,by recommending commodities based on a given scene.However,scenes are typically unknown in advance,which necessitates scene discovery for E-commerce.In this article,we study scene discovery for E-commerce systems.We first formalize a scene as a set of commodity cate-gories that occur simultaneously and frequently in real-world situations,and model an E-commerce platform as a heteroge-neous information network(HIN),whose nodes and links represent different types of objects and different types of rela-tionships between objects,respectively.We then formulate the scene mining problem for E-commerce as an unsupervised learning problem that finds the overlapping clusters of commodity categories in the HIN.To solve the problem,we pro-pose a non-negative matrix factorization based method SMEC(Scene Mining for E-Commerce),and theoretically prove its convergence.Using six real-world E-commerce datasets,we finally conduct an extensive experimental study to evaluate SMEC against 13 other methods,and show that SMEC consistently outperforms its competitors with regard to various evaluation measures.

The conventional technique for positioning seafloor geophones in ocean bottom seismic exploration encounters several challenges,inc.uding the significant impact of outliers on positioning results,underutilization of high-precision observations,and low efficiency in real-time data processing.These issues inevitably affect the quality of seismic exploration outcomes.To address these challenges and enhance the accuracy of geophone positioning,this paper proposes a rigorous real-time acoustic positioning method for geophones based on sequential adjustment and Baarda's outlier detection approach.The proposed method comprises three key steps:grouping the original acoustic observations,constructing the intra-group acoustic positioning model,and synthesizing the positioning results across the different groups.The validity and practicality of this approach are confirmed through a simulation experiment as well as the field experiment conducted in the Bohai Sea,China.The results demonstrate that the proposed method effectively eliminates outliers in the original observations and maximizes the utilization of high-quality observations.Compared to traditional acoustic positioning methods,it significantly reduces positioning errors from meters to decimeters,and in some cases can achieve centimeter-level precision.When the sound velocity profile in the operating sea area is measured,the method can attain the posterior standard deviation at the millimeter level and positioning errors within 10 cm.When the sound velocity profile is unknown,the method can achieve the posterior standard deviation at centimeter-level and positioning errors of approximately 20 cm.

Hepatocellular carcinoma(HCC)is the major histologic type of primary liver cancer,accounting for approximately 75%of liver cancer cases.'Despite many advancements in its treatment,the prognosis and drug response of HCC patients are dismal.Therefore,there is an unmet clinical need to explore genomic aberrations underlying early-and lateonset HcC,which might facilitate drug discovery and provide personalized biomarker-driven treatment options for these patients.
