Social acceptance and associated risks of geothermal energy development in East Africa: perspectives from geothermal energy developers

Social acceptance is a challenging aspect that affects the development of geothermal energy and such issues have been reported in many countries,such as Germany,Japan,Greece,and *** this study,we discuss the barriers to social acceptance and associated risks faced by geothermal energy developers in East *** have conducted semi-structured interviews with international organ-izations(38.5%),public companies(38.5%),and private companies(23.1%).The interviews were qualitatively analysed using inductive content *** key barriers identified by respondents were the lack of political,market,and community awareness;lack of local political support;lack of public funding;human resource shortages;involuntary resettlement;local cultural aspects;employ-ment issues;and demographic *** lack of awareness of geothermal energy affects public and private funding,and leads to negative risk perception by ***,such as air,soil,and water pollution,land acquisition,social exclusion,resource risks,and drilling and project costs,were considered important by our *** this study,we emphasize the need for the following:raising awareness regarding geothermal energy;training professionals;implementing strong surface studies to reduce the risks asso-ciated with the exploration stage;and conducting environmental and social impact assessment reports to mitigate negative risks to local communities,while also ensuring their engagement and raising their awareness about the negative risks of geothermal energy.

In the last few decades, addressing the global challenge of implementation of strategies for renewable energy and energy efficiency has become ***, since 2009, has made a steadfast commitment to sustainability, with a particular focus on advancing the development of renewable energy resources. A comprehensive strategy has been formulated, centering on utilizing the country's energy potential to drive progress in this vital sector. Morocco is considered a country with abundant thermal water, indicating deep reservoirs with significant hydrothermal potential. geothermal zones were selected based on the abundance of hot springs where water temperatures were high and geothermal gradients were significant. The abundance and importance of hot springs, combined with recent volcanism and ongoing non-tectonic activity linked to alpine orogeny, strongly suggest that these regions are promising reservoirs for geothermal energy. This great potential also extends to neighboring countries. In northeast and south Morocco, the temperature of thermal water ranges from 26 to 54℃. This study serves as an inclusive review of the geothermal potentialities in Morocco.

Polycrystalline diamond compact(PDC)bit is one of the most widely used drill bits for improving the rate of penetration in deep oil and gas well and geothermal ***,the dynamic rock fragmentation mechanics characteristics of PDC bits are still unclearly.A coupled fragmentation mechanics model of PDC cutter-rock interaction is established by combining the mixed fragmentation modes with dynamic *** coupling influence laws of cutter angle,cutting depth,dynamic strength ratio,breaking modes on the horizontal force coefficient(HFC),vertical force coefficient(VFC)and specific energy are *** model of this paper can optimize cutter inclination angle,cutting depth and minimum specific *** the increase of the cutter inclination angle,the dynamic VFC changes into two *** definition of the dynamic modes depends on the dynamic strength *** the cutting angle increases,the cutting force *** cutting force increases nonlinearly with increasing cutting *** specific energy of rock fragmentation increases nonlinearly with increasing cutting *** the increase of dynamic strength,the specific energy of rock fragmentation increases *** the input-energy increases,the rate of penetration response is divided into three *** results have important guiding significance for the PDC bit design and drilling parameters optimization to increase the rate of penetration and the efficiency of exploration and development.

Discussion on establishing monitoring networks for temperature fields of shallow thermal energy in Shandong, China

In the recent decade, the construction projects related to shallow geothermal energy engineering have undergone rapid development in Shandong Province. The predominant type of these developments and applications was heat exchange through buried tubes and the main targets were residential and office buildings. However, an overwhelming majority of the completed geothermal heat pump projects lacked monitoring devices so that they were unable to comprehensively reflect the background values for the geothermal fields within the province and few researches were conducted on their influence on the geological environment. In this paper, locations for monitoring shallow geothermal energy and their validity of the monitoring point deployment were studied in view of the development and application status as well as geological background conditions of various projects located in multiple cities providing data support for analyzing the fluctuation trend and influence of large-scale shallow geothermal energy applications on the shallow geothermal and the feasibility and parameter designs of newly built systems in Shandong Province in the future.

Massive neutron stars and A-hypernuclei in relativistic mean field models

Based on relativistic mean field（RMF） models, we study finite A-hypernuclei and massive neutron stars. The effective N-N interactions pk1 and TM1 are adopted, while the N-A interactions are constrained by reproducing the binding energy of A-hyperon at 1 s orbit of Λ^40Ca. It is found that the A-meson couplings follow a simple relation, indicating a fixed A potential well for symmetric nuclear matter at saturation densities, i.e., around VΛ=-29.786 MeV. With those interactions, a large mass range of Λ-hypernuclei can be described well. Furthermore,the masses of PSR J1614-2230 and PSR J0348＋0432 can be attained adopting the Λ-meson couplings gσΛ/gσN≥0.73,gωΛ/gωN≥0.80 for pk1 and gσΛ/gσN≥0.81,gωΛ/gωN≥0.90 for TM1, respectively. This resolves the hyperon puzzle without introducing any additional degrees of freedom.
