Ultrasound guided breast biopsy navigation system with a graphical user interface and a passive robotic needle holder is developed to increase the performance and reliability of the *** calibration and tool tip calibration are required before using the system.A ladder phantom is developed to be used for ultrasound calibration in real time system with only one ultrasound image *** passive robotic needle holder structure results in an identity matrix for the makes the rotation matrix;therefore,only translation and scaling are required in the *** method can be applied to multiple ultrasound depths,which has a relationship at each depth and a relationship to the ultrasound image on the *** results show high accuracy(<1 mm.)and rapid calibration(5–10 minutes)which is suitable for a real time system like a breast biopsy navigation system based on tests with a breast phantom.

Breast cancer is a leading cause of cancer death in women, worldwide. Fortunately, breast cancer is relatively chemosensitive, with recent advances leading to the development of effective therapeutic strategies, significantly increasing disease cure rate. However, disease recurrence and treatment of cases lacking therapeutic molecular targets, such as epidermal growth factor receptor 2 and hormone receptors, referred to as triple-negative breast cancers, still pose major hurdles in the treatment of breast cancer. Thus, novel therapeutic approaches to treat aggressive breast cancers are essential. Blood coagulation factor VII(fV II) is produced in the liver and secreted into the blood stream. Tissue factor(TF), the cellular receptor for fV II, is an integral membrane protein that plays key roles in the extrinsic coagulation cascade. TF is overexpressed in breast cancer tissues. The TF-fV II complex may be formed in the absence of injury, because f VII potentially exists in the tissue fluid within cancer tissues. The active form of this complex(TF-fV IIa) may stimulate the expression of numerous malignant phenotypes in breast cancer cells. Thus, the TF-fV II pathway is a potentially attractive target for breast cancer treatment. To date, a number of studies investigating the mecha-nisms by which TF-fV II signaling contributes to breast cancer progression, have been conducted. In this review, we summarize the mechanisms controlling TF and fV II synthesis and regulation in breast cancer cells. Our current understanding of the TF-fV II pathway as a mediator of breast cancer progression will be also described. Finally, we will discuss how this knowledge can be applied to the design of future therapeutic strategies.

BACKGROUND:Although invasive ductal adenocarcinoma of the pancreas(PDAC) manifests as a relatively uniform histomorphological feature of the pancreatobiliary type,it may be complicated by metaplastic changes and heterogeneous gastric and intestinal *** study aimed to investigate the complication rate and clinicopathological significance of such heterogeneous ***:Fifty-nine patients who underwent resection of PDAC were examined in this ***,tumors showing high expression(>25%) of the intestinal-type(INT) marker CDX2 were classified as PDAC with *** with high expression(>25%) of the gastric-type(GAS) marker MUC5AC were classified as PDAC with GAS,while those with high expression of both markers were classified as PDAC with INT/*** patients were compared with those with PDAC of the negative group in which neither markers was highly expressed to examine their clinicopathological ***:In the 59 patients,31(52.5%) showed high CDX2 or MUC5AC ***-eight patients(47.5%) belonged to a negative group,11(18.6%) to a PDAC with INT group,15(25.4%) to a PDAC with GAS group,and 5(8.5%) to a PDAC with INT/GAS *** significant differences were observed for age,gender,size,localization,T classification,or prognosis among the four *** the PDAC with GAS group had well differentiated types significantly more than the other groups,the rate of lymph node metastasis in this group was significantly higher(PDAC with GAS:73%;other groups:36%).CONCLUSION:Complications with heterogeneous elements are not uncommon in PDAC,and this should be considered during the diagnosis and treatment of PDAC along with histogenesis of the disease.

Embryonic stem(ES) cells are isolated from theinner cell mass of a blastocyst, and are used for the generation of gene-modified animals. In mice, the transplantation of gene-modified ES cells into recipient blastocysts leads to the creation of gene-targeted mice such as knock-in and knock-out mice; these gene-targeted mice contribute greatly to scientific development. Although the rat is considered a useful laboratory animal alongside the mouse, fewer genemodified rats have been produced due to the lack of robust establishment methods for rat ES cells. A new method for establishing rat ES cells using signaling inhibitors was reported in 2008. By considering the characteristics of rat ES cells, recent research has made progress in improving conditions for the stable culture of rat ES cells in order to generate gene-modified rats efficiently. In this review, we summarize several advanced methods to maintain rat ES cells and generate gene-targeted rats.
