Recently emerging disadvantages in conventional disinfection have heightened the need for finding a new solution. Developments in the use of high pressure carbon dioxide for food preservation and sterilization have led to a renewed interest in its applicability in wastewater treatment and water disinfection. Pressurized CO2 is one of the most investigated methods of antibacterial treatment and has been used extensively for decades to inhibit pathogens in dried food and liquid products. This study reviews the literature concerning the utility of CO2 as a disinfecting agent, and the pathogen inactivation mechanism of CO2 treatment is evaluated based on all available research. In this paper, it will be argued that the successful application and high effectiveness of CO2 treatment in liquid foods open a potential opportunity for its use in wastewater treatment and water disinfection. The findings from models with different operating conditions（pressure, temperature, microorganism, water content, media …） suggest that most microorganisms are successfully inhibited under CO2 treatment. It will also be shown that the bacterial deaths under CO2 treatment can be explained by many different ***, the findings in this study can help to address the recently emerging problems in water disinfection, such as disinfection by-products（resulting from chlorination or ozone treatment）.

The wide use and wide-spectrum toxicity of synthetic pyrethroids （SPs） insecticides make them an emerging ecotoxicological concern. Some previous studies showed that SPs possessed cytotoxicity in some immune cells such as human lymphocytes and rat bone marrow. However, the cytotoxicity of SPs to macrophages, which are crucial to innate immunity, has not been explored. In the present report, we investigated a new pyrethroid insecticide, lambda-cyhalothrin （LCT）, which may increase the generation of reactive oxygen species （ROS） and DNA damage levels and cause cytotoxicity in RAW 264.7 cells in dose- and time-dependent manners. The results for the first time implicated increased endogenous ROS and DNA damage as co-mediators of LCT-induced cytotoxicity in macrophages. Our results also suggested that macrophages were involved in synthetic pyrethroid-induced adverse immune effects. Considering the ubiquitous environmental presence of SPs, this study provided new information relative to the potential long-term physiological and immunological effects associated with chronic exposure to SPs. Hence, the potential immunotoxicity of SPs should be considered in assessing the safety of these compounds in sensitive environmental compartments.

It is thought that there are many unregulated anthropogenic chemicals in the *** risk assessment of chemicals, it is essential to estimate the predicted environmental concentrations. As an effort of identifying residual organic contaminants in air and water in Korea, nontarget screening using two-dimensional gas chromatography time-of-flight mass spectrometry（GC × GC-TOFMS） was conducted at 10 sites using polyurethane foam passive air sampler and at 6 sites using polydimethyl siloxane（PDMS） passive water sampler in three different seasons in 2014. More than 600 chemical peaks were identified satisfying the identification criteria in air and water samples, respectively, providing a list for further investigation. Chemical substances with reported national emission rates in2014（n = 149） were also screened for potential existence in the environment using a level Ⅱ fugacity model. Most of chemical substances classified as not detectable were not identified with detection frequency greater than 20% by nontarget screening, indicating that a simple equilibrium model has a strong potential to be used to exclude chemicals that are not likely to remain in the environment after emissions from targeted monitoring.

The worldwide rise in heatwave frequency poses a threat to plant survival and *** the new marker phenotypes that show reproducible response to heat stress and contribute to heat stress tolerance is becoming a *** this study,we describe a protocol focusing on the daily changes in plant morphology and photosynthetic performance after exposure to heat stress using an automated noninvasive phenotyping *** stress exposure resulted in an acute reduction of the quantum yield of photosystem II and increased leaf *** longer term,the exposure to heat also affected plant growth and *** tracking the recovery period of the WT and mutants impaired in thermotolerance(hsp101),we observed that the difference in maximum quantum yield,quenching,rosette size,and *** examining the correlation across the traits throughout time,we observed that early changes in photochemical quenching corresponded with the rosette size at later stages,which suggests the contribution of quenching to overall heat *** also determined that 6 h of heat stress provides the most informative insight in plant’s responses to heat,as it shows a clear separation between treated and nontreated plants as well as the WT and *** work streamlines future discoveries by providing an experimental protocol,data analysis pipeline,and new phenotypes that could be used as targets in thermotolerance screenings.

We identified 67 and 21 NTFP-yielding plant and animal species, respectively, in a reserve forest in Cachar district of Assam. We recorded globally threatened species listed by IUCN as Critically Endangered （plant species Dipterocarpus turbinatus）, Vulnerable （plant species Aquillaria malaccensis）, Endangered （animal species Hoolock hoolock, Indotestudo elongata and Manis pentadactyla）, and Vulnerable （animal species Nilssonia hurum and Rusa unicolor）. The whole plant or animal and/or their various parts were used as food or medicine, in house construction, magico-religious activities and others. While some NTFPs were harvested throughout the year, others were harvested seasonally. A comprehensive NTFP policy, along with scientific measures for regen- eration, restoration and augmentation of NTFP-yielding plants and animals, would help in addressing the conflicting demands of conservation and livelihood in the forests of this area.

Antimony-doped tin hydroxide colloid precipitates were prepared by hydrolysis of SnCl4·5H2O and SbCl3 ethanol solutions. Isoamyl acetate was selected as azeotropic drying solvent and was compared with the most commonly used n-butanol solvent on treating precipitate for low hard agglomeration precursor powders. The FT-IR, BET, XRD, and TEM results of the precursor powders and calcinated antimony-doped tin oxide powders were recorded. The results demonstrate that isoamyl acetate is an excellent azeotropic drying solvent that can effectively prevent the agglomeration of particles and greatly improve the fluffiness of the obtained dried powders. After these precursor powders are calcined, antimony-doped tin oxide nanopowders with tetragonal rutile structure and high dispersivity can be obtained.

Coumarin derivative 3-bromo-7-methyloxy-4-methylcoumarin（C11H9BrO3） was synthesized and characterized by FT-IR,1H NMR spectra,and thermal *** crystal structure was determined by X-ray single-crystal *** title compound crystallizes in the mono-clinic system,space group P21/n,with a = 7.770（16）,b = 12.501（3）,c = 10.627（2）,β = 98.46（3）°,Mr = 269.09,V = 1021.0（4） 3,Z = 4,Dc = 1.751 g/cm3,μ = 4.008 mm-1,F（000） = 536,R = 0.0650 and wR = *** optimization of the title compound was obtained by quantum chemical method at the SVWN5/6-31G＊＊ *** the structure,the measured angles of the crystal structure are similar to those calculated,while the measured bond lengths are shorter than the calculated values due to the crystal field which functions to the *** title compound also shows good fluorescent behaviors and good linear relationship with the equal concentration gradient in methanol.
