Mechanical ventilation is an effective medical means in the treatment of patients with critically ill,COVID-19 and other pulmonary *** the mechanical ventilation and the weaning process,the conduct of pulmonary rehabilitation is essential for the patients to improve the spontaneous breathing ability and to avoid the weakness of respiratory muscles and other pulmonary functional ***,inappropriate mechanical ventilation strategies for pulmonary rehabilitation often result in weaning difficulties and other ventilator *** this article,the mechanical ventilation strategies for pulmonary rehabilitation are studied based on the analysis of patient-ventilator interaction.A pneumatic model of the mechanical ventilation system is established to determine the mathematical relationship among the pressure,the volumetric flow,and the tidal *** ventilation cycle is divided into four phases according to the different respiratory characteristics of patients,namely,the triggering phase,the inhalation phase,the switching phase,and the exhalation *** control parameters of the ventilator are adjusted by analyzing the interaction between the patient and the ventilator at different phases.A novel fuzzy control method of the ventilator support pressure is proposed in the pressure support ventilation *** to the fuzzy rules in this research,the plateau pressure can be obtained by the trigger sensitivity and the patient’s inspiratory *** experiment prototype of the ventilator is established to verify the accuracy of the pneumatic model and the validity of the mechanical ventilation strategies proposed in this *** addition,through the discussion of the patient-ventilator asynchrony,the strategies for mechanical ventilation can be adjusted *** results of this research are meaningful for the clinical operation of mechanical ***,these results provide a theoretical basis for the future research on

Statistical Characteristics of Austral Summer Cyclones in Southern Ocean

Characteristics of cyclones and explosively developing cyclones (or 'bombs') over the Southern Ocean in austral summer (December, January and February) from 2004 to 2008 are analyzed by using the Final Analysis (FNL) data produced by the National Centers for Environmental Prediction (NCEP) of the United States. Statistical results show that both cyclones and explosively developing cyclones frequently develop in January, and most of them occur within the latitudinal zone between 55°S and 70°S. These cyclones gradually approach the Antarctic Continent from December to February. Generally cyclones and bombs move east-southeastward with some exceptions of northeastward movement. The lifetime of cyclones is around 2-6 d, and the horizontal scale is about 1000 km. Explosive cyclones have the lifetime of about 1 week with the horizontal scale reaching up to 3000 km. Compared with cyclones developed in the Northern Hemisphere, cyclones over the southern ocean have much higher occurrence frequency, lower central pressure and larger horizontal scale, which may be caused by the unique geographical features of the Southern Hemisphere.

The thermal and velocity slips of boundary layer of Williamson nanofluid over a stretching sheet are studied *** model is used to explore the heat transfer phenomena caused by Brownian motion and *** similarity transformations,the governing equations are reduced to a set of nonlinear ordinary differential equations(ODEs).These equations are solved numerically by using Shooting *** effects of non-Newtonian Williamson parameter,velocity and thermal slip parameters,Prandtl number,Brownian parameter,Schmidt number,Lewis number,Brownian motion parameter,thermophoresis parameter on velocity,temperature and concentration fields are shown graphically and *** results found that the thickness of boundary layer decreases as the slip and thermal factor parameter ***,present results indicate that the nanofluid temperature and concentration are enhanced with a rise of Williamson *** Nusselt number is reduced with an increase of the Lewis and Prandtl numbers.

Microscopic features of colorectal neoplasia in inflammatory bowel diseases

The risk of developing dysplasia leading to colorectal cancer (CRC) is increased in both ulcerative colitis and Crohn’s disease. The prognosis of CRC may be poorer in patients with inflammatory bowel disease (IBD) than in those without IBD. Most CRCs, in general, develop from a dysplastic precursor lesion. The interpretation by the pathologist of the biopsy will guide decision making in clinical practice: colonoscopic surveillance or surgical management. This review summarizes features of dysplasia (or intraepithelial neoplasia) with macroscopic and microscopic characteristics. From an endoscopic (gross) point of view, dysplasia may be classified as flat or elevated (raised); from a histological point of view, dysplasia is separated into 3 distinct categories: negative for dysplasia, indefinite for dysplasia, and positive for dysplasia with low- or high-grade dysplasia. The morphologic criteria for dysplasia are based on a combination of cytologic (nuclear and cytoplasmic) and architectural aberrations of the crypt epithelium. Immunohistochemical and molecular markers for dysplasia are reviewed and may help with dysplasia diagnosis, although diagnosis is essentially based on morphological criteria. The clinical, epidemiologic, and pathologic characteristics of IBD-related cancers are, in many aspects, different from those that occur sporadically in the general population. Herein, we summarize macroscopic and microscopic features of IBD-related colorectal carcinoma.

Remarkable anodic performance of lead titanate 1D nanostructures via in-situ irreversible formation of abundant Ti^3＋ as conduction pathways

PX-phase PbTiO3 （PT） nanowires with open channels running along the length direction have been investigated as an anode material for lithium ion batteries. This material shows a stabilized reversible specific capacity of about 410 mAh·g^-1 up to 200 cycles with a charge/discharge voltage plateau of around 0.3-0.65 V. In addition, it exhibits superior high-rate performance, with 90% and 77% capacity retention observed at 1 and 2 A·g^-1, respectively. At a very high current rate of 10 A·g^-1, a specific capacity of over 170 mAh·g^-1 is retained up to 100 cycles, significantly outperforming the rate capability reported for Pb and Pb oxides. The results of X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy （XPS） and transmission electron microscopy （TEM） analyses along with the cyclic voltammogram results reveal that the PX-phase PT nanowires undergo irreversible structural amorphization and reduction reactions during the initial cycle, which allow them to transform into a composite structure composed of 2-5 nm Pb nanoparticles uniformly dispersed in the 1D amorphous Li2O·TiO2·LiTiO2 matrix. In this composite structure, the presence of abundant amounts of Ti^3＋ in both the charged and discharged states enhances the electrical conductance of the system, whereas the presence of ultrafine Pb nanoparticles imparts high reversible capacity. The structurally stable TiO2-based amorphous matrix can also considerably buffer the volume variation during the charge/discharge process, thereby facilitating extremely stable cycling performance. This compound combines the high specific capacity of Pb-based materials and the good rate capability of Ti^3＋-based wiring. Our results might furnish a possible route for achieving superior cycling and rate performance and contribute towards the search for next-generation anode materials.

Pulsed Magnetic Field Measurement Outside Finite Length Solenoid: Experimental Results &Mathematical Verification

The paper deals with magnetic field mapping outside a finite length solenoid electromagnet, by an in-house designed and calibrated inductive pick-up or search coil. The search coil is calibrated in a unique methodology based on the azimuthal magnetic field component generated by a straight wire. This unique calibration technique helps us to avoid additional circuitry to integrate the signal obtained from search coil. The methodology proves advantageous in diffusion, implosion studies where the signal frequency changes with dimension and material of experimental job-piece (hollow metal tube). Remedial measures have been taken to avoid electrostatic capacitive pick-up (which eventually exacerbates with integration) keeping measurement simple and accurate. The experimentally measured field values have also been compared with electromagnetic field results obtained from mathematical calculations and finite element based simulations. Two different mathematical approaches have been demonstrated for field computation based on Biot-Savart Law. Both the methods have taken into account the exact geometry of the solenoid, including the inter-turn gaps. The methods use appropriate combination of closed-form mathematical expression and numerical integration techniques and are capable of determining all the vector components of magnetic field anywhere around the finite length solenoid. The mathematical computations are equally significant contributions in the paper especially because exact determination of magnetic fields outside finite length solenoids has not been discussed in sufficient specific details in already existing literature. The mathematical computations, finite element simulations and experimental verification together provide a holistic solution to magnetic field determination problems in pulse power applications that have not been discussed in available literature or books in specific details.

Lansoprazole prevents experimental gastric injury induced by non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs through a reduction of mucosal oxidative damage

AIM:This study investigated the mechanisms of protection afforded by the proton pump inhibitor lansoprazole against gastric injury induced by different non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs) in rats. METHODS: Male Sprague-Dawley rats were orally treated with indomethacin (100 μmol/kg), diclofenac (60 μmol/kg), piroxicam (150 μmol/kg) or ketoprofen (150 μmol/kg). Thirty minutes before NSAIDs, animals were orally treated with lansoprazole 18 or 90 umol/kg. Four hours after the end of treatments, the following parameters were assessed: gastric mucosal PGE2, malondialdehyde (MDA), myeloperoxidase (MPO) or non-proteic sulfhydryl compounds (GSH) levels; reverse transcription-polymerase chain reaction (RT-PCR) of mucosal COX-2 mRNA; gastric acid secretion in pylorus-ligated animals; in vitro effects of lansoprazole (1-300 μmol/L) on the oxidation of low density lipoproteins (LDLs) induced by copper sulphate. RESULTS: All NSAIDs elicited mucosal necrotic lesions which were associated with neutrophil infiltration and reduction of PGE2 levels. Increments of MPO and MDA contents, as well as a decrease in GSH levels were detected in the gastric mucosa of indomethacin- or piroxicam-treated animals. Indomethacin enhanced mucosal cyclooxygenase-2 expression, while not affecting cyclooxygenase-1. At the oral dose of 18 μmol/kg lansoprazole partly counteracted diclofenac-induced mucosal damage, whereas at 90 μmol/kg it markedly prevented injuries evoked by all test NSAIDs. Lansoprazole at 90 μmol/kg reversed also the effects of NSAIDs on MPO, MDA and GSH mucosal contents, without interfering with the decrease in PGE2 levels or indomethacin-induced cyclooxygenase-2 expression. However, both lansoprazole doses markedly inhibited acid secretion in pylorus-ligated rats. Lansoprazole concentration-dependently reduced the oxidation of LDLs in vitro.
