The mucosal barrier is crucial for intestinal homeostasis,and goblet cells are essential for maintaining the mucosal barrier *** proviral integration site for Moloney murine leukemia virus-1(PIM1)kinase regulates multiple cellular functions,but its role in intestinal homeostasis during colitis is ***,we demonstrate that PIM1 is prominently elevated in the colonic epithelia of both ulcerative colitis patients and murine models,in the presence of intestinal *** PIM1 leads to decreased goblet cells,thus impairing resistance to colitis and colitis-associated colorectal cancer(CAC)in ***,PIM1 modulates goblet cell differentiation through the Wnt and Notch signaling ***,PIM1 interacts with histone deacetylase 2(HDAC2)and downregulates its level via phosphorylation,thereby altering the epigenetic profiles of Wnt signaling pathway ***,these findings investigate the unknown function of the PIM1-HDAC2 axis in goblet cell differentiation and ulcerative colitis/CAC pathogenesis,which points to the potential for PIM1-targeted therapies of ulcerative colitis and CAC.

The opioid epidemic continues to be a serious public health *** have pointed to prescription drug misuse as a nidus for patients to become addicted to opioids and as such,urologists and other surgical subspecialists must critically define optimal pain management for the various procedures performed within their respective *** pain following penile prosthesis implantation remains a unique challenge for urologists,given the increased pain patients commonly experience in the postoperative *** most of the existing urological literature focuses on interventions performed in the operating room,there are many studies that examine the role of preoperative adjunctive pain medicine in diminishing postoperative narcotic *** are relatively few studies looking at postoperative strategies for managing pain in prosthetic surgery with follow-up past the immediate *** review assess the various strategies employed for managing pain following penile implantation through the lens of the current state of the opioid crisis,thus examining how urologists can responsibly treat pain without contributing to the growing threat of opioid addiction.

Modeling asymmetric fracture mechanics of Mg alloy wire in drawing process

In this study,a numerical analysis was conducted on the ductile fracture of a 2-mm diameter Mg-1Zn-0.5Mn-0.5Sr-0.1Ca alloy wire during *** hexagonally close-packed crystal structure of Mg alloys causes asymmetric fracture behavior,especially in the compression *** aim of this study is to develop a comprehensive damage model for Mg alloy wire that accurately predicts ductile fracture,with a focus on the compression region.A novel experimental method was introduced to measure the ductile fracture of Mg alloy wires under different stress *** wire drawing process was simulated using the Generalized Incremental Stress-State dependent damage(GISSMO)Model and the Semi-Analytical Model for Polymers(SAMP)*** damage model's prediction and the experimental results were found to be in excellent agreement,especially in determining crack *** analysis established a safe zone diagram for die angle and reduction ratio,and experimental validation confirmed the feasibility of this *** proposed damage model can provide a practical and reliable analysis for optimizing the drawing process of Mg alloy wire.

Better renal replacement therapy to improve sexual function in female patients with end-stage renal disease:A cross-sectional study

Background Sexual dysfunction is commonly observed in patients with end-stage renal disease(ESRD).Sexual dysfunction in correlation with ESRD is associated with physiological and psychological problems resulting in low sexual desire,arousal,difficulties in achieving orgasm,and pain during *** on female sexual dysfunction(FSD)in correlation with renal replacement therapy are limited,and previous studies reporting contradictive results have indicated that the best modality for providing better outcomes(especially on FSD)remains ***,this study aimed to compare the sexual function between female patients with ESRD who were on continuous ambulatory peritoneal dialysis(CAPD)and those on hemodialysis(HD).Materials and methods This study enrolled female patients who were randomly selected from the urology and renal division of the Internal Medicine Outpatient Clinic of our hospital from January 2020 to August 2021 and divided into the following groups:predialysis,HD,CAPD,and control *** participants were asked to fill out the Female Sexual Function Index(FSFI)questionnaires,and their data were recorded and analyzed using GraphPad Prism *** Of the 280 patients,200 female patients were included in this *** rate of FSD(cutoff:26.55)was 42%in the control group,72%in the predialysis group,62%in the CAPD group,and 66%the in HD *** control group had a higher mean score in all parameters(p0.05)between the patients on HD and those on CAPD;the mean of each point was almost identical except for satisfaction,which was higher among patients on CAPD(p<0.05).Significant differences in the components of desire,arousal,orgasm,and satisfaction were observed between the *** Patients on CAPD had better FSFI scores than the female patients with ESRD who were on HD,and the scores of both groups of patients were better than those of the predialysis group.

Swarm robot systems are an important application of autonomous unmanned surface vehicles on water *** monitoring natural environments and conducting security activities within a certain range using a surface vehicle,the swarm robot system is more efficient than the operation of a single object as the former can reduce cost and save *** is necessary to detect adjacent surface obstacles robustly to operate a cluster of unmanned surface *** this purpose,a LiDAR(light detection and ranging)sensor is used as it can simultaneously obtain 3D information for all directions,relatively robustly and accurately,irrespective of the surrounding environmental *** the GPS(global-positioning-system)error range exists,obtaining measurements of the surface-vessel position can still ensure stability during platoon *** this study,a three-layer convolutional neural network is applied to classify types of surface *** aim of this approach is to redefine the sparse 3D point cloud data as 2D image data with a connotative meaning and subsequently utilize this transformed data for object classification ***,we have proposed a descriptor that converts the 3D point cloud data into 2D image *** use this descriptor effectively,it is necessary to perform a clustering operation that separates the point clouds for each *** developed voxel-based clustering for the point cloud ***,using the descriptor,3D point cloud data can be converted into a 2D feature image,and the converted 2D image is provided as an input value to the *** intend to verify the validity of the proposed 3D point cloud feature descriptor by using experimental data in the ***,we explore the feasibility of real-time object classification within this framework.

Background:Despite the success of tyrosine kinase inhibitors in chronic myeloid leukemia(CML)therapy,CML still faces the challenges of drug resistance and progression to blast ***-five percent of patients have imatinib resistance and treatment difficulties due to heterogeneity after progression,but little is known about the mechanism.A key transcription factor in hematopoiesis,MYB,has been reported to increase abnormally in several types of aggressive blood disorders including ***:This study used a zebrafish model to explore the relationship between BCR/ABL1 and c-myb in CML progression.A CML zebrafish model was crossed with a c-myb hyperactivity transgenic ***:It was found that both exogenous BCR/ABL1 and c-myb could up-regulate the expression of neutrophil-related *** seriously,neutrophil accumulation was observed when BCR/ABL1 was combined with c-myb *** studies showed that c-myb may be one of the downstream targets of BCR/ABL1 and the effect of BCR/ABL1 on neutrophils was c-myb *** advantage of this inheritable in vivo model,it was shown that a combination of imatinib and flavopiridol,a cyclin-dependent kinase inhibitor targeting MYB,could more effectively alleviate the aggressive phenotype of the double transgene ***:In summary,this study suggests that c-myb acts downstream of BCR/ABL1 and is involved in CML progression and is therefore a risk factor and a valuable target for the treatment of CML *** model used in the study could be helpful in high-throughput drug screening in CML transformation.

History and evolution of the use of oral mucosa for urethral reconstruction

We report here the history and evolution of the use of oral mucosa in reconstructive urethral surgery since it was first used for urethroplasty in *** that time,many authors have contributed to develop,improve and popularize the use of oral mucosa as a substitute *** urologists should be considered pioneers on the use of oral mucosa as they used it to repair primary and failed *** use of oral mucosa to repair penile and bulbar urethral strictures was described,for the first time,in *** evolutions in the technique for harvesting oral mucosa from the cheek were reported in ***,oral mucosa is considered the gold standard material for any type of anterior urethroplasty in a one-or two-stage repair due to its biological and structural characteristics that make it a highly versatile that is adaptable to any environment required by the reconstructive urethral *** the future approaches,tissue engineering techniques will provide patients with new materials originating from the oral epithelial mucosal cells,which are cultured and expanded into a ***,the path to reach this ambitious objective is still long and many difficulties must be overcome along the way.

Effects of extra-corporeal shock waves on penile hemodynamics and histopathology in rats

Aim: To study the effect of extra-corporeal shock wave (ESW) on the penile hemodynamics and histopathology in rats. Methods: Adult male Sprague-Dawley rats were divided at random into 3 groups. ESW application was performed with a Siemens Lithostar with the rats under anesthesia lying prone on the balloon probe. Rats in Group Ⅰ received a total of 1000 shocks at 18 kV and immediately underwent hemodynamic evaluation performed by direct electrostimulation of the cavernous nerve and measurement of intracavernous pressure (ICP). Rats in Group Ⅱ received 3 times 1000 shocks at 18 kV at weekly intervals and hemodynamic evaluation was performed 1 month after the last ESW application. Group Ⅲ served as the control. Histopathological examinations of penile tissues were done on Masson's trichrome and hematoxylin and eosin stained sections. Results: Penile hemodynamic evaluation showed a trend toward a diminished mean maximal ICP, duration of erection, ICP during the plateau phase and maximal ICP/blood pressure ratio in Group Ⅰ, although there was no significant significance. The mean latency period in Groups Ⅰ and Ⅱ was prolonged. Petechial bleeding within tunical layers and small loci of hemorrhage within the corpora cavernosa were observed in Group Ⅰ. However, histopathological examination failed to reveal any significant differences between the groups in terms of smooth muscle content, tunical thickness, organization of collagen bundles and elastic fiber-lattice framework. Conclusion: ESW has certain damaging effects on the penis. (Asian J Androl 2002 Dec; 4: 249-253)
