Deterministic Approach to Achieve Full-Polarization Cloak

Achieving full-polarization(σ)invisibility on an arbitrary three-dimensional(3D)platform is a long-held knotty issue yet extremely promising in real-world stealth ***,state-of-the-art invisibility cloaks typically work under a specific polarization because the anisotropy and orientation-selective resonant nature of artificial materials made theσ-immune operation elusive and terribly ***,we report a deterministic approach to engineer a metasurface skin cloak working under an arbitrary polarization state by theoretically synergizing two cloaking phase patterns required,respectively,at spin-up(σ+)and spin-down(σ−)***,the wavefront of any light impinging on the cloak can be well preserved since it is a superposition ofσ+andσ−*** demonstrate the effectiveness and applicability,several proof-of-concept metasurface cloaks are designed to wrap over a 3D triangle platform at microwave *** show that our cloaks are essentially capable of restoring the amplitude and phase of reflected beams as if light was incident on a flat mirror or an arbitrarily predesigned shape under full polarization states with a desirable bandwidth of~17.9%,conceiving or deceiving an arbitrary object placed *** approach,deterministic and robust in terms of accurate theoretical design,reconciles the milestone dilemma in stealth discipline and opens up an avenue for the extreme capability of ultrathin 3D cloaking of an arbitrary shape,paving up the road for real-world applications.

Although Si-based nanomaterials provide incomparable lithium ion storage ability in theory, it suffers from low initial Coulombic efficiency, electrical disconnection, and fracture due to huge volume changes after extended cycles. As a result, it leads to a severe capacity fading and an increase in internal impedance. Herein, Ti-elemental MXene was employed as a matrix for the intermediate product of Si electrodes. The boundary between the inner core of pristine Si and its outer shell of amorphous Li x Si alloy was reconstructed. Smaller amorphous aggregates were observed in the MXene&Si hybrid electrode after 500 cycles by using transmission electron microscopy. Consequently, an enhanced specific capacity was achieved as MXene as a matrix enables loading amorphous Si.

Systematic calculations of cluster radioactivity half-lives with a screened electrostatic barrier

In this study,based on Wentzel-Kramers-Brillouin theory,we systematically investigate the cluster radioactivity half-lives of 22 nuclei ranging from^(221)Fr to^(242)Cm using a phenomenological model that considers the screened electrostatic effect of the Coulomb *** this model,there are two adjustable parameters,t and g,which are related to the screened electrostatic barrier and the strength of the spectroscopic factor,*** calculated results indicate that this model can effectively reproduce the experimental data,with a corresponding rootmean-square deviation of *** addition,we extend this model to predict the half-lives of possible cluster radioactive candidates whose cluster radioactivities are energetically allowed or observed but not yet quantified in the evaluated nuclear properties table *** predicted results are consistent with those obtained using other theoretical models and/or empirical formulas,including the universal decay law proposed by Qi et al.[***.C 80,044326(2009)],a semi-empirical model for bothαdecay and cluster radioactivity proposed by Santhosh et al.[***.G 35,085102(2008)],and a unified formula for the half-lives ofαdecay and cluster radioactivity proposed by Ni et al.[***.C 78,044310(2008)].

Effect of Dexmedetomidine and Remifentanil on Renal Function in Patients Undergoing Bariatric Surgery

Background and Objectives: In anesthesia for bariatric surgery, alterations occur in several organs, including the kidney. The objective of this study was to compare the effect of dexmedetomidine and remifentanil on the renal function of morbidly obese patients submitted to bariatric surgery. Methods: Sixty-one patients were studied prospectively and divided randomly into two groups: remifentanil (R) and dexmedetomidine (D). Renal function was evaluated in three phases: before anesthesia (M0), after anesthetic induction (M1) and after surgical incision (M2). Plasma concentrations were determined for glucose, antidiuretic hormone, creatinine, urea, sodium, potassium and osmolarity and urinary concentrations for creatinine, urea, sodium, potassium and osmolarity. Results: Significant differences were found between groups for potassium at M1 (p Conclusions: In both groups, the clearance values fell from moments M0 to M2. This result indicates that renal function of obese patients submitted to bariatric surgery presented a physiological response compatible with the effect of anesthetic-surgical stress. In the group D, creatinine and sodium clearances were elevated at M1. Urinary volume was greater at M2. These results are suggestive of better preservation of renal function.

Hydrological changes under climate warming drive the biogeomorphic succession of wetlands and may trigger substantial carbon loss from the carbon-rich *** many studies have explored the responses of wetland carbon emissions to short-term hydrological change,it remains poorly understood how the carbon cycle evolves with hydrology-driven wetland ***,we used a space-for-time approach across hydrological gradients on the Tibetan Plateau to examine the dynamics of ecosystem carbon fluxes(carbon dioxide(CO_(2))and methane(CH4))and soil organic carbon pools during alpine wetland *** found that the succession from mesic meadow to fen changed the seasonality of both CO_(2) and CH4 fluxes,which was related to the shift in plant community composition,enhanced regulation of soil hydrology and increasing contribution of spring-thaw *** paludification caused a switch from net uptake of gaseous carbon to net release on an annual timescale but produced a large accumulation of soil organic *** attempted to attribute the paradox between evidence from the carbon fluxes and pools to the lateral carbon input and the systematic changes of historical climate,given that the wetlands are spatially low-lying with strong temporal climate-carbon cycle *** findings demonstrate a systematic change in the carbon cycle with succession and suggest that biogeomorphic succession and lateral carbon flows are both important for understanding the long-term dynamics of wetland carbon footprints.
