This paper presents the assumptions and the preliminary results of the project entitled"Extension of the system for man-agement of post-mining areas in the Silesian province-OPI TPP 2.0".The overall objective of the project is to develop and implement a new e-service in the form of an open-access information system on post-mining areas in the Silesia *** range of information and tools planned to be made available is dedicated to assessing the possibilities and potential for economic and social reuse of these *** basic and extremely important stage of the project was to identify and collect data on post-industrial sites located in the Silesia *** information contained in this article illustrates the activities that were carried out in the initial phase of the project in which unmanned aerial vehicles(UAV)were used to identify and acquire information on brownfields(including post-mining sites)entered into the developed common *** article assesses the possibility of using drones in an enterprise of such a large scale and also points out the advantages of using this *** article describes the methodology and scope of work related to the acquisition of data that can be collected using unmanned aerial vehicle(UAV)covering surface infrastructure and land use of brownfields,allowing for the identification of negative phenomena on their site as well as monitoring of naturally occurring *** on fieldworks experience and the results of numerous analyses carried out for different types of brownfields(***-mining areas,former transport bases,settling ponds,etc.),paper presents the advantages and benefits of drones(UAN)over other data sources used to monitor changes in an *** article is based on the results of an inventory of over 600 brownfields located in Upper Silesia region(Silesia Voivodeship,Poland).

In 2006, ICSU celebrates 75 years of supporting international, interdisciplinary science. 2006 is a doubly significant year for ICSU as it also marks the start of the first ever ICSU Strategic Plan, 2006-2011, which signals both a new vision and a new mode of operation for the Council. This plan is the culmination of an extensive review and consultation exercise that involved the entire ICSU membership. It was unanimously endorsed by the ICSU General Assembly,including IUGS, which met in Suzhou, China in October 2005.

Climate change and groundwater resources in Cambodia

Climate change has become a major global concern and threatens the security of natural environmental resources, including groundwater, especially for Cambodia. In this study, literature reviews related to climate change and groundwater resources in Cambodia were evaluated to address the impact of climate change on the groundwater environment. In Cambodia, global climate change will likely affect available water resources by driving changes in the groundwater recharge and usage pattern. Despite a general increase in the mean annual rainfall, a reduction in rainfall is anticipated during the dry season, which could lead to shortages of fresh water during the dry season. The impact of climate change on water resource environments can significantly affect national economic development. Thus, strategic management plansfor groundwater in response to climate change should be established to ensure the security of water resources in Cambodia.

WRONGFUL CONVICTIONS AND THE EXCLUSIONARY RULES IN CHINA

Wrongful conviction is the shadow of the criminal justice system. Under this shadow are the flaws and deficiencies of the system, which must be shed light on in order to instigate and promote reforms and improvements to the system. Extracting confessions with torture is a major cause for wrongful convictions in China. The exclusionary rules against illegally obtained evidence should be an effective way to eliminate tortures from criminal justice. The Provisions on Several Issues Concerning the Examination and Evaluation of Evidence in Death Penalty Cases and the Provisions on Several Issues Concerning Exclusion of Illegal Evidence in Criminal Cases and the newly amended Criminal Procedure Law have made progresses in this regard, but we still have a long way to go to turn the laws on paper into the rules in action.

Impacts of Food and Energy Price Hikes and Proposed Coping Strategies

Based on sample survey data for the years 2006 and 2007, we find that inflation of food and energy prices in China is moving at a slower pace than in the international market; however, the livelihood of low income groups has been significantly impacted. Urban sample households in low income groups have been shifting from consumption of high value food to lower value substitutes; and all of the rural sample households are reducing their total consumption expenditure in real terms. The Engel＇ s coefficient of the rural household enlarged while their proportion of spending on clothing and energy declined. Farmers＇ households are moving toward more imbalanced diets, and the nutritional status of the poor is apparently deteriorating. The emergency-response measures that the government should implement include stopping subsidies to biofuel producers, who use foodstuffs as inputs, and providing food aid to the poor. The mid-term strategies should include anti-monopoly tactics, improving the market environment for the right competition, and eliminating price distortion. Midterm and long-term socioeconomic policy reform must be undertaken to adjust the social structure, to correct the mechanism of factor price formation, and to transform the pattern of economic growth.

International Migration Policies： Should They Be A New G20 Topic？

International migration should be a core subject for global governance, given its transnational nature, and yet it is its ＂ugly duckling＂ and the global community has shied away from taking any concrete action to regulate cross-border flows of people, at least until 2015, when the refugee crisis in the Mediterranean prompted Turkey to include migration in the Antalya agenda. It is unlikely that the international community will move beyond the current consensus based on humanitarian principles and recognize that the free flow of people is a right, on the same level as trade and capital liberalization. At the same time, much of the criticism of migration policies is misplaced.＂ efforts shouM be focused on improving the implementation of existing policies and fine-tune these policies in relation to entrance and integration, preferably in cooperation with the country of origin. The G20 should play a leading role in facilitating such coordination, also taking into account the increasing importance of South-South migration （such as the migration of Chinese citizens to Africa）.

Estimating Trade Mis-invoicing from China:2000-2005

An examination of available data reveals large trade misinvoicing between China and its trade partners. The analysis finds a net trade misinvoicing of US$287.6bn between 2000 and 2005, while the full magnitude of unrecorded trade is estimated at US$1.4tn. China needs to establish more effective management of its international trade flows. At the same time, the international community needs to provide more effective governance mechanisms to address trade misinvoicing.
