Intense research and refinement of the tools used in performance-based seismic engineering have been made,but the maturity and accuracy of these methods have not been adequately confirmed with actual data from the field. The gap between the assumed characteristics of actual building systems and their idealized counterparts used for analysis is wide. When the randomly distributed flaws in buildings as they exist in urban areas and the extreme variability of ground motion patterns combine,the conventional procedures used for pushover or dynamic response history analyses seem to fall short of reconciling the differences between calculated and observed damage. For emergency planning and loss modeling purposes,such discrepancies are factors that must be borne in mind. Two relevant examples are provided herein. These examples demonstrate that consensus-based analytical guidelines also require well-idealized building models that do not lend themselves to reasonably manageable representations from field data. As a corollary,loss modeling techniques,e.g.,used for insurance purposes,must undergo further development and improvement.

A method about the isolation of heterotrophic nitrosobactria and the characteristics of heterotrophic nitrosobactria were *** can be seen from the fluorescence in situ hybridization results of the bio-membrane sample from the bio-ceramic reactor,the spots of green nitrosobacteria are obviously more than those of orange *** heterotrophic nitrobacteria were isolated from the bio-ceramic *** sequencing 16SrDNA and establishing the phylogenic tree,they were identified physiologically and biochemically as Pseudomonas sp..After 12 d,the COD removal efficiency of wgy55 and wgy68 were 45.03% and 50.85%,the NH4-N removal efficiency of them were 80.12% and 85.93%,and the TN removal efficiency of them were 69.71% and 64.7%.The final concentration of NO2-N of wgy55 and wgy68 was 0.753 mg/L and 0.601 mg/L,and that of NO3-N was 3.21 mg/L and 3.38 mg/*** results show that wgy55 and wgy68 have the capability of nitrification and they are heterotrophic nitrobacteria.

Influence of Surface Treatment on the Corrosion Resistance of Stainless Steel in Simulated Human Body Environment

In the present research, the influence of chromium enrichment by surface treatment on corrosion resistance of type 316L stainless steel in body environment was investigated. For this study, weight loss test during 18 months, cyclic and liner polarization tests before and after surface treatment and metallography by electron and light microscopy were used to evaluate the effectiveness of the proposed method. In addition, X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy （XPS） method was used to determine the chromium concentration in the surface layer after surface treatment. Results show that the surface treatment has improved corrosion resistance of the type 316L stainless steel in body environment.

This paper studied the structure and dynamic change of microbial communities in bio-reactor for treating ground water which contained high concentration of iron and *** this study,polymerase chain reaction(PCR) denaturing gradient gel electrophoresis(DGGE) was used to evaluate the bacterial *** samples in spatio-temporal of bacterial community suceession in sands were analyzed,and the removal of iron and manganese were *** results showed that a significant change in the community structure was observed during running time and the bio-reactor which designed by ourselves:the removal rate of iron and manganese could achieve 88.93%.The mass of microrganisms was decreasing,and the type of micro-organisms tended to stable with the increase of operating ***,the change of mass and types of micro-organisms in sands was related to *** the depth of filter layer,the mass and types of micro-organisms were gradually ***,pseudomonas were found to be the main microbiology by recycling the band sequencing and phylogenetic *** with time increasing the mass and kind of bacteria were growing from less to more,finally to be stable.

This paper compared the degradation efficiency of sludge organic matters and electric-production by two typical microbial fuel cells——dual-chamber microbial fuel cell(DMFC)and single chamber air cathode microbial fuel cell(SAMFC),and the variations of sludge protein,polysaccharide and ammonia nitrogen within the systems were also *** results showed that the concentration of sludge soluble chemical oxygen demand,protein and carbohydrate of DMFC are higher than these of SAMFC during the systems operation,while DMFC can achieve a better ammonia nitrogen removal than *** the same operation condition,the stable voltage output of DMFC and SAMFC is 0.61 V and 0.37 V;the maximum power density of DMFC and SAMFC is 2.79 W/m3and 1.25 W/m3;TCOD removal efficiency of DMFC and SAMFC is 34.14%and 28.63%for 12 d,***,DMFC has a higher coulomb efficiency than SAMFC,but both are less than5%.The results showed that DMFC present a better performance on sludge degradation and electric-production.

The objective of this paper is to establish reliable prediction equations relating cotton fibreproperties measured by HVI system and yarn quality,A useful statistical method is adopted for de-veloping a multiple regression model interpreting the relation between the data of Spinlab HVIfibre properties and quality parameters of yarn STQ (Strength Tex Quotient).The percent relativecontribution of a fibre property with respect of STQ is also *** results show that the totalcontribution of the HVI measured fibre properties can account for 77.4% of known variation ofyarn *** main feature of the approach is its flexibility in accommodating all fibre *** examination of regression equation showed that it could be well applied to predict STQ ofyarns spun from the same spinning system,but,for different spinning systems and also for yarns ofdifferent linear density,modification of the equation would be needed.

This paper deals with the types and specifications of combing roller covering for spinning pureramie noil rotor-spun yarns.A handling mode combining Fuzzy Decision-making and FuzzyCluster Analysis has been used for analyzing the experimental *** is shown that,with regard to the specifications of the sawtooth clothing of the combing rol-ler,large working angle,large tooth pitch,fine tooth shape,short tooth height,smooth finish andgood wearability are of benefit to improving the spinning stability and the spun yarn *** pinned combing roller,however,regardless of its complicated process of production,is sug-gested to be preferred for spinning the pure ramie noil rotor-spun *** handling mode used in this work is efficient in improving the reliability and objectivity ofthe conclusions and can be used for solving the similar problems.

A novel experimental setup was developed to study the heat extraction of geothermal heat exchanger(GHE)in different operational modes under adiabatic and isothermal *** experimental setup consists of a sand trunk,a tailored water chiller,a natural cold source unit,two water boxes containing hot water and cool water,and a data acquisition *** experimental results indicate that the volume flow rate of the entering water is a main factor affecting the heat extraction;furthermore,the heat extraction value per meter pipe decreases gradually along the heat extraction pipe and increases with the increase of the incoming water volume flow ***,this novel experimental setup may be helpful to further study the operation performance of GHE in different types of soil.
