This paper presents the substrate temperature dependence of opto-electrical properties for transparent conducting Al-doped ZnO films prepared on polyisocyanate (PI) substrates by r f sputtering. Polycrystalline ZnO:Al films with good adherence to the substrates having a (002) preferred orientation have been obtained with resistivities in the range from 4.1×10-3to 5.3×104 Ωcm, carrier densities more than 2.6×1020 cm-3 and Hall mobilities between 5.78 and 13.11 cm2/V/s for films. The average transmittance reaches 75% in the visible spectrum. The quality of obtained films depends on substrate temperature during film fabrication.

In this paper, propagation and polarization characteristics of optical waves in arbitrary directions in a biaxial crystal are analyzed, and universal relationships of refractive index dependence on their propagation directions and the principal refractive indices for two perpendicular polarization waves propagating in arbitrarily directions are derived from indicatrix equation. By using these relationships, methods of collinear phase matching (PM) of SHG are developed, and general expressions of the collinear PM angle dependent of the principal indices are given for SHG in arbitrarily directions. The expressions may be used to make optimization design of PM by computer for the SHG and to select optimum PM direction and to raise the SHG conversion efficiencies.

This paper illustrates how homogeneous function analysis can be generalized. to relativistic quantum mechanics for finding the WKB energy levels of Dirac particle in the positive power-law potentials (V = lambda-r(v), S = lambda'r(v), lambda, lambda', v > 0). The results show that the equation determining energy levels contains a product of hypergeometric function with some gamma functions, and the energy of particle is proportional to (2n(r) + l + 3/2) 2v/1 + v under the condition that the relativistic effect plays a principal role in contrast with the (2n(r) + l + 3/2) 2v/2 + v dependence in nonrelativistic case.

FRTH(fractional Fourier transform hologram) is a new kind of hologram that differs from common Fresnel holograms and Fourier transform holograms. Due to the flexibility of zone plate. A method that uses the -1 order diffraction wave of zone plate as the object wave and the 0 order diffraction wave as the reference wave to record FRTH is presented. It provides a new simple way to record FRTH. In this paper, the theory of achieving FRT and recording FRTH using holographic zone plate is presented and experimental results are given.

Hydrogenated amorphous carbon films were fabricated by using layer-by-layer deposition method and hydrogen dilution method in a small d.c.-assisted plasma enhanced chemical vapor deposition system. It was found that the hydrogen plasma treatment could change the sp2/sp3 ratio to some extent by chemical etching. The improvements of field emission characteristics were observed compared with that from conventionally deposited a-C films, which can be attributed to the large field enhancement effect due to the inhomogeneous distribution of nanometer scale sp2 clusters and the reduction of the surface emission barrier due to the hydrogen termination.

Droplets of Co-37.6 wt pct Mo and Ni-47.7 wt pct Mo eutectic alloys were rapidly solidified during containerless processing in a 3 m drop tube. A kind of anomalous eutectic appears in these two eutectic alloys when undercooling is beyond 56 and 61 K, respectively. The two eutectic phases in anomalous eutectic were observed to grow in dendrite manner. The formation of anomalous eutectic is ascribed to the cooperative dendrite growth of the two independently nucleated eutectic phases. Current dendrite and eutectic growth theories are applied to describe the observed processes.

The laser-field induced magnon amplification in a magnetic semiconductorquantum well under an external magnetic field was discussed, it is shown that when the laserfrequency is near to the electron cyclotron frequency, no matter how weaker the laser field is, themagnon amplification always occurs. In case of fixed laser frequency, the optical absorption ofmagnons obeys the definite selection rule to the laser field strength. The rate of change of magnonoccupation is calculated, and the amplification condition is given.

Electronic Structure of New Superconducting Perovskite MgCNi3

The electronic structures of new superconducting perovskite MgCNi3 and related compounds MgCNi2T (T=Co, Fe, and Cu) have been studied using MS-Xa method. In MgCNi3, the main peak of density of states is located below the Fermi level and dominated by Ni d. From the results of total energy calculations, it was found that the number of Ni valence electron decreases faster for the Fe-doped case than that for the Co-doped case. The valence state of Ni changes from +1.43 in MgCNi2Co to +3.02 in MgCNi2Fe. It was confirmed that Co and Fe dopants in MgCNi3 behave as a source of d-band holes and the suppression of superconductivity occurs faster for the Fe-doped case than that for the Co-doped case. In order to explain the fact that Co and Fe dopants in MgCNi3 behave as a source of d-band holes rather than magnetic scattering centers that quench superconductivity, we have also investigated the effects of electron (Cu) doping on the superconductivity and found that both electron (Cu) doping and hole (Co, Fe) doping quench superconductivity exist. Comparing with the hole (Co) doping, there was no much difference between Cu and Co doping. This suggests that Co and Fe doping do not act as magnetic impurity.
