Software reliability was estimated based on NHPP software reliability growth models. Testing reliability and operational reliability may be essentially different. On the basis of analyzing similarities and differences of the testing phase and the operational phase, using the concept of operational reliability and the testing reliability, different forms of the comparison between the operational failure ratio and the predicted testing failure ratio were conducted, and the mathematical discussion and analysis were performed in detail. Finally, software optimal release was studied using software failure data. The results show that two kinds of conclusions can be derived by applying this method, one conclusion is to continue testing to meet the required reliability level of users, and the other is that testing stops when the required operational reliability is met, thus the testing cost can be reduced.

We propose a fuzzy logic-based image retrieval system, in which the image similarity can be inferred in a nonlinear manner as human thinking. In the fuzzy inference process, weight assignments of multi-image features were resolved impliedly. Each fuzzy rule was embedded into the subjectivity of human perception of image contents. A color histogram called the average area histogram is proposed to represent the color features. Experimental results show the efficiency and feasibility of the proposed algorithms.

We study the problem of centralized exact repair of multiple failures in distributed *** present constructions that achieve a new set of interior points under exact repair. The constructions build upon the layered code construction by Tian et al., designed for exact repair of single failure. We firstly improve upon the layered construction for general system parameters. Then, we extend the improved construction to support the repair of multiple failures, with varying number of helpers. In particular, for some parameters, we prove the optimality of one point in terms of the storage size and the repair bandwidth for multiple erasures. Finally, considering minimum bandwidth cooperative repair(MBCR) codes as centralized repair codes, we determine explicitly the best achievable region obtained by space-sharing among all known points, including the MBCR point.

Improving the network interface performance is needed by the demand of applications with high communication requirements （for example, some multimedia, real-time, and high-performance computing applications）, and the availability of network links providing multiple gigabits per second bandwidths that could require many processor cycles for communication tasks. Multicore architectures, the current trend in the microprocessor development to cope with the difficulties to further increase clock frequencies and microarchitecture efficiencies, provide new opportunities to exploit the parallelism available in the nodes for designing efficient communication architectures. Nevertheless, although present OS network stacks include multiple threads that make it possible to execute network tasks concurrently in the kernel, the implementations of packet-based or connection-based parallelism are not trivial as they have to take into account issues related with the cost of synchronization in the access to shared resources and the efficient use of caches. Therefore, a common trend in many recent researches on this topic is to assign network interrupts and the corresponding protocol and network application processing to the same core, as with this affinity scheduling it would be possible to reduce the contention for shared resources and the cache misses. In this paper we propose and analyze several configurations to distribute the network interface among the different cores available in the server. These alternatives have been devised according to the affinity of the corresponding communication tasks with the location （proximity to the memories where the different data structures are stored） and characteristics of the processing core. As this approach uses several cores to accelerate the communication path of a given connection, it can be seen as complementary to those that consider several cores to simultaneously process packets belonging to either the same or different connections.

Multimodality image registration and fusion are essential steps in building 3-D models from remotesensing data. We present in this paper a neural network technique for the registration and fusion of multimodali-ty remote sensing data for the reconstruction of 3-D models of terrain regions. A FeedForward neural network isused to fuse the intensity data sets with the spatial data set after learning its geometry. Results on real data arepresented. Human performance evaluation is assessed on several perceptual tests in order to evaluate the fusionresults.

Joint relay selection and power control for robust cooperative multicast in mm Wave WPANs

We propose an optimization algorithm for joint relay selection and source and relay power allocation under mixed line-of-sight(LoS) and non-Lo S path scenarios for both power saving and robustness enhancement of cooperative multicast in millimeter-wave wireless personal area networks. Our aims are to reduce power consumption and enhance the robustness of cooperative multicasts in millimeter-wave wireless personal area networks. First, we describe a novel beam training protocol that is capable of overhearing and information feedback to filter relay candidates with non-Lo S links and avoid selecting relays for transceivers with Lo S ***, the joint relay selection and power allocation issue is formulated as an optimization problem with the objective of minimizing the maximum combined power consumption of the source and relay under maximum tolerable outage probabilities and transmit powers. By introducing relaxation and Lagrange multiplier methods,a closed-form expression for the joint relay selection and power allocation is obtained. Finally, simulation results indicate significant improvements in terms of both outage probability and power consumption over the conventional combined transmit power minimization algorithm.

Through research for image compression based on wavelet analysis in recent years, we put forward an adaptive wavelet decomposition strategy. Whether sub-images are to be decomposed or not are decided by their energy defined by certain criterion. Then we derive the adaptive wavelet decomposition tree (AWDT) and the way of adjustable compression ratio. According to the feature of AWDT, this paper also deals with the strategies which are used to handle different sub-images in the procedure of quantification and coding of the wavelet coefficients. Through experiments, not only the algorithm in the paper can adapt to various images, but also the quality of recovered image is improved though compression ratio is higher and adjustable. When their compression ratios are near, the quality of subjective vision and PSNR of the algorithm are better than those of JPEG algorithm.

An efficient scalable key management scheme for secure group communication

Several muhicast key management schemes such as those proposed by Wallner et al and Wong et al are based on a multilevel, logical hierarchy （or tree） of key-encrypting keys. When used in conjunction with a reliahle muhicast infrastructure, this approach results in a highly efficient key update mechanism in which the number of muhicast messages transmitted upon a membership update is proportional to the dept. of the tree, which is logarithmic to the size of the secure muhicast group. But this is based on the hypothesis that the tree is maintained in a balanced manner. This paper proposes a scalable rekeying scheme---link-tree structure for implementing secure group communication. Theoretical calculation and experimentation show that this scheme has better performance than the tree structure and the star structure, and at the same time still keep the link-tree structure balanced.

Interaction is one of the crucial features of multl-agent systems, in which there are two kinds of interaction： agent-to-agent and human-to-agent. In order to unify the two kinds of interaction while designing multi-agent systems, this paper introduces Q language-a scenario description language for designing interaction among agents and humans. Based on Q, we propose an integrating interaction framework system for multi-agent coordination, in which Q scenarios are used to uniformly describe both kinds of interactions. Being in accordance to the characteristics of Q language, the Q-based framework makes the interaction process open and easily understood by the users. Additionally, it makes specific applications of multi-agent systems easy to be established by application designers. By applying agent negotiation in agent-mediated e-commerce and agent cooperation in interoperable information query on the Semantic Web, we illustrate how the presented framework for multi-agent coordination is implemented in concrete applications. At the same time, these two different applications also demonstrate usability of the presented framework and verify validity of Q language.
