A new method for power quality (PQ) disturbances identification is brought forward based on combining a neural network with least square (LS) weighted fusion algorithm. The characteristic components of PQ disturbances are distilled through an improved phase-located loop (PLL) system at first, and then five child BP ANNs with different structures are trained and adopted to identify the PQ disturbances respectively. The combining neural network fuses the identification results of these child ANNs with LS weighted fusion algorithm, and identifies PQ disturbances with the fused result finally. Compared with a single neural network, the combining one with LS weighted fusion algorithm can identify the PQ disturbances correctly when noise is strong. However, a single neural network may fail in this case. Furthermore, the combining neural network is more reliable than a single neural network. The simulation results prove the conclusions above.

This paper describes about conceiving a concept and t ransforming it into a commercially successful product. It gives details of impa rting creativity, synergy, advantages and disadvantages of large scale computeri sation, motivational aspects etc. Several aspects of a product design to cost e ffective manufacturing, with case histories, including tuning of men and machine ries, various constraints and solutions to introduce a new product are discu ssed. This paper also gives the "how and why " facts to conceive an idea, trans forming it into a prototype, and methods of converting into a reliable and cost effective product. It is a fact that "you get it only when you look for it" and one must look throu gh the nose, ears, eyes and other sense organs in order to identify a "need". C ustomer satisfaction that develops a good customer relationship originates when "the need" is properly identified and satisfied to the greatest extent possible. The service that is carried out to satisfy "the need" has to be delivered with enough care. Most of the people are provided with appropriate sense organs to identify "the n eed" and unfortunately only a few can look through and see the problem. It is true that only these few can identify the needs of the society and conceive a n idea. This paper discusses several methods of looking through in order to ide ntify "the need". Having identified the need, only a few have the capability to convert it into workable prototypeseither in its crude form or full fled ged model because only these people have the long term vision and know ledge of various aspects of creativity. Details of required outlook and capacit y to generate such creativity is also discussed in this paper. Manufacturing engineering is an art and only a few in the habit of conceiving a product idea could transform it into a product that could be manufactured. Three-dimensional (3D) human pose tracking has recently attracted more and more attention in the computer vision field. Real-time pose tracking is highly useful in various domains such as video surveillance, somatosensory games, and human-computer interaction. However, vision-based pose tracking techniques usually raise privacy concerns, making human pose tracking without vision data usage an important problem. Thus, we propose using Radio Frequency Identification (RFID) as a pose tracking technique via a low-cost wearable sensing device. Although our prior work illustrated how deep learning could transfer RFID data into real-time human poses, generalization for different subjects remains challenging. This paper proposes a subject-adaptive technique to address this generalization problem. In the proposed system, termed Cycle-Pose, we leverage a cross-skeleton learning structure to improve the adaptability of the deep learning model to different human skeletons. Moreover, our novel cycle kinematic network is proposed for unpaired RFID and labeled pose data from different subjects. The Cycle-Pose system is implemented and evaluated by comparing its prototype with a traditional RFID pose tracking system. The experimental results demonstrate that Cycle-Pose can achieve lower estimation error and better subject generalization than the traditional system.

A new preamble structure is designed for wireless LAN based on MIMO OFDM systems, which can be used for both synchronization and channel estimation. Modulatable orthogonal polyphase sequence is utilized in training symbol design regarding its correlation properties. The time synchronization and channel estimation are achieved by measuring the correlation between the received training sequence and the locally generated training sequence. Repeated training symbols are used to get carrier frequency offset （CFO） estimation. It is shown from the analysis that the accuracy of frequency synchronization is close to the Cramer-Rao lower bound. The training sequences are optimal for channel estimation based on the minimum mean square error （MMSE）.

Synthetic aperture radar(SAR) imaging is an efficient strategy which exploits the properties of microwaves to capture images. A major concern in SAR imaging is the reconstruction of image from back scattered signals in the presence of noise. The reflected signal consist of more noise than the target signal and it is a challenging problem to reduce the noise in the collected signal for better reconstruction of an image. Current studies mostly focus on filtering techniques for noise removal. This can result in an undesirable point spread function causing extreme smearing effect in the desired image. In order to handle this problem, a computational technique, particle swarm optimization(PSO) is used for de-noising purpose and later the target performance is further improved by an amalgamation of Wiener ***, to improve the de-noising performance we have exploited the singular value decomposition based morphological filtering. To justify the proposed improvements we have simulated the proposed techniques and results are compared with the conventional existing models. The proposed method revealed considerable decrease in mean square error compared to Wiener filter and PSO techniques. Quantitative analysis of image restoration quality are also presented in comparison with Wiener filter and PSO based on the improvement in signal to noise ratio and peak signal to noise ratio.

To reduce the fragility encountered in controller implementation, which is a measure of extent to describe small perturbations in controller parameters caused by rounding-off errors or component tolerances, and keep the system stability and performance, approaches of weighted eigenvalue sensitivity and stability radii comparison were used for computation and reduction of controller fragility. An algorithm has been derived for the efficient reduction of controller fragility, which used eigenstructure decomposition to obtain the suboptimal solution. The algorithm was tested for different control problems through reducing their fragility by a large margin. Different canonical forms were analyzed for fragility, including controllable canonical form, observable canonical form, modal canonical form, balanced realization and optimal (non-fragile) form. Different realizations were implemented through C language Matlab EXecutable (CMEX) S-function discrete state space block. Double precision calculations were performed. Open and closed loop controller realizations were compared with simulink state space (optimal) block. Results of comparison indicate that the optimal non-fragile controller realization shows better results both in open loop and closed loop realization.

SAW sensors using five different types of polymer to detect of chemical agents(DMMP,CH_3CN,CH_2Cl_2,DCP) have been fabricated and its gas response characteristics were extensively *** polymers used as the sensing material are polyisobutylene(PIB),polyepichlorohydrin(PECH),polydimethylsiloxane(PDMS),polyisoprene(PIP)and polybutadiene(PBD).Their thin films were coated on quartz substrate by spin coating *** types of simulants gases,dimethylmethylphosphonate(DMMP),acetonitrile(CH_3CN)and dichloromethane(CH_2Cl_2),dichloropentane(DCP)were used as target gases,instead of the real nerve,blood,choking and vesicant *** spin coating of PIB and PECH,the substrates were heated to 65℃with N_2 flow for 1 h to remove the cyclohexane and ethylacetate which was used as solvent. PDMS was heated to 75℃with N_2 flow for 2 h to remove the ethylacetate which was used as *** and PIP on the substrate were heated to 60℃with N_2 flow for 1 h to remove the benzen which was used as *** sensing characteristics of the SAW sensors were measured by using E-5061A network analyzer.

For the purpose of study on forecasting forest fire behavior,a probability approach was presented to search ignition sources by multi-robot coordination. Firstly,the environment map is built based on Bayes rules. Then,the probability searching strategy based on the environment map was designed. Every grid of the searching area was assigned searching expectation value, and robots selected the grid with the highest expectation value as its searching target. The simulation results show the search time reduces greatly,which proves the feasibility and validity of the given algorithm under unknown fire condition.

Multimodality image registration and fusion are essential steps in building 3-D models from remotesensing data. We present in this paper a neural network technique for the registration and fusion of multimodali-ty remote sensing data for the reconstruction of 3-D models of terrain regions. A FeedForward neural network isused to fuse the intensity data sets with the spatial data set after learning its geometry. Results on real data arepresented. Human performance evaluation is assessed on several perceptual tests in order to evaluate the fusionresults.

This paper focuses on optimal voltage regulator(VR)planning to maximize the photovoltaic(PV)energy integration in distribution *** describe the amount of dynamic PV energy that can be integrated into the power system,the concept of PV accommodation capability(PVAC)is introduced and modeled with *** proposed planning model is formulated as a Benders decomposition based bi-level stochastic optimization *** the upper-level problem,VR planning decisions and PVAC are determined via mixed integer linear programming(MILP)before considering *** in the lower-level problem,the feasibility of first-level results is checked by critical network constraints(*** magnitude constraints and line capacity constraints)under uncertainties considered by time-varying loads and PV *** this paper,these uncertainties are represented in the form of operational scenarios,which are generated by the Gaussian copula theory and reduced by a well-studied backward-reduction *** modified IEEE 33-node distribution grid is utilized to verify the effectiveness of the proposed *** results demonstrate that a PV energy integration can be significantly enhanced after optimal voltage regulator planning.
