We propose a non-traditional finite element method with non-body-fitting grids to solve the matrix coefficient elliptic equations with sharp-edged interfaces. All possible situations that the interface cuts the grid are considered. Both Diriehlet and Neumann boundary conditions are discussed. The coefficient matrix data can be given only on the grids, rather than an analytical function. Extensive numerical experiments show that this method is second order accurate in the L∞ norm.

Singular rough sets （S-rough sets） have three classes of forms： one-directional S-rough sets, dual of onedirectional S-rough sets, and two-directional S-rough sets. Dynamic, hereditary, mnemonic, and hiding properties are the basic characteristics of S-rough sets. By using the S-rough sets, the concepts of f-hiding knowledge, F-hiding knowledge, hiding degree, and hiding dependence degree are given. Then, both the hiding theorem and the hiding dependence theorem of hiding knowledge are proposed. Finally, an application of hiding knowledge is discussed.

In this paper, we study local influence analysis for Zhang's generalized correlation coefficients and Hotelling's generalized correlation coefficient by using approach. of local influence analysis suggested by Shi (1991), i.e., generalized influence function (GIF) and generalized Cook distance (GCD). An example is given to illustrate our results.

The ratio R of two random quantities is frequently encountered in probability and statistics. But while for unidimensional statistical variables the distribution of R can be computed relatively easily, for symmetric positive definite random matrices, this ratio can take various forms and its distribution, and even its definition, can offer many challenges. However, for the distribution of its determinant, Meijer G-function often provides an effective analytic and computational tool, applicable at any division level, because of its reproductive property.

In this paper, we formulate a general framework of an analytic approximation of the solutions to some It o stochastic integro-differential equations defined on sub-intervals of an arbitrary part of the time-interval [0,1] and connected at successive division points. The integral parts and coefficients of the equation are approximated by their Taylor polynomial which series up to arbitrary derivatives. The suggested approximations converge to the initial solution in the Lp-th norm with some order.

The large sample estimation of standard deviation of logistic distribution employs the asymptotically best linear unbiased estimators based on sample quantiles. The sample quantiles are established from a pair of single spacing. Finally, a table of the variances and efficiencies of the estimator for 5≤n≤65 is provided and comparison is made with other linear estimators.
