Objective To analyze and summarize the clinical,genotypic and pathological characteristics of children with PAX2 gene mutation in China,and to provide information for the monitoring,treatment and prognosis of the *** It was a case series analysis *** clinical data of children with PAX2 gene mutation in Pediatric Nephrology Department,TongijHi ospital Affiliatedd toTongji MedicalCollege,HIuazhong University of Science and Technology from January 2014 to December 2022 were collected,and peripheral blood gene DNA was extracted and sequenced for whole exome *** clinical,pathological and genotypic characteristics of PAX2 gene variation of children in China were summarized by searching PubMed,Medline,China National Knowledge Infrastructure and Wanfang database and compared with the cases in this single *** Among the 13 children with PAX2 gene mutation,there were 9 males and 4 females,12 patients with abnormal urine tests,7 patients with small kidney volume by imaging examination,and 5 patients with renal *** clinical phenotypes were congenital renal and urinary tract malformations in 8 cases,renal coloboma syndrome in 1case,and hematuriaor proteinuria in 3 *** patients underwent renal biopsies,showing focal segmental glomerulosclerosis and C33glomerulopathy in1 case,focal segmental glomerulosclerosis in 1 case,thin basement membrane lesion in 1 case,and IgA nephropathy in 2 cases.

Aim: To pursue whether cytogenetic aberrations correlate with specific spermatological or hormonal ***: 305 infertile couples were investigated. All male partners were referred to a complete andrological work-up with physical examination, determination of hormones, HIV testing and semen analysis. Cytogenetic analysis wascarded out in both partners by means of standard techniques using cultured lymphocytes from peripheral blood. Re-suits: Among the 305 couples, 10 men (3.2%) and 10 women (3.2%) showed constitutional chromosomal aber-rations, including reciprocal translocations (n = 7), Robertsonian translocations (n = 3), inversions (n = 3), otherstructural aberrations (n = 4) and sex chromosome aberrations (n = 3). In addition to the impaired sperm count inmost of the patients, a tendency to an increased proportion of spermatozoa with acrosome defect was observed. Con-clusion: Chromosomal aberrations may contribute to the low fertilization and pregnancy rates in the infertile couples.(Asian J Androl 2000 Dec; 2: 293-296)

Natural antioxidants, due to the different chemical structures and their unique biological protection effects on islet cell, have been received much attention in applied chemistry field for developing a new diabetic drug. However, the molecular targets of the islet cell protection have been remained obscure. For investigating molecular targets of combined natural antioxidant’s（CNA） roles in against diabetes, type 1 diabetic mouse model was made by multiple injection of low doses of streptozotocin into C57BL mice. Two combinations of natural antioxidants were orally supplemented to the mice. Blood glucose level, glutathione peroxidase（GSH-Px） and superoxide dismutase （SOD） activities, and malondialdehyde（MDA） contents were measured via biochemical assays. Tumor necrosis factor α（TNF-α）, interferon γ（IFN-γ） and Interleukin-12（IL-12） in CD4＋ peripheral blood mononuclear cells（PBMC） were evaluated with flow cytometry（FCM）. In situ hybridization（ISH） and immunohistochemistry（IHC） were used to detect insulin gene expression. The results demonstrate both the combinations significantly： increased GSH-px and SOD, but decreased MDA levels in pancreas（p〈0.05―0.01）; up-regulated insulin expression at both mRNA and protein levels in islet cells（p〈0.05―0.01）; down-regulated TNF-α and IL-12 expression in PBMC（p〈0.05―0.01）. Our data suggest that the CAN may regulate multiple key molecular targets related to β cell function, including reduction of oxidative stress and pre-inflammatory cytokines, and upregulate insulin gene expression to reduce the development of diabetes.

Objective:An acute onset central pathology without any clear neurological symptoms may mimic peripheral vestibular problem in an emergency setting.A 54-year-old man suddenly developed dizziness without any cranial nerve symptoms,paresis,cerebellar signs or sensory disturbances except upbeat positional nystagmus at multiple provoked positions which alerted for a possible acute central ***:An instantaneous magnetic resonance imaging and angiography studies further showed obstruction of the left internal carotid artery above the *** patient’s subsequent prognosis was consistent with good recovery following anti-coagulant therapy.A follow-up MRI and angiography showed resolution of ***:It should be kept in mind that positional nystagmus is likely to occur in central *** between benign paroxysmal positional vertigo and central positioning nystagmus is critical.

AIM To investigate the effects of TRH in DVC on motility of the gallbladder in rabbits. METHODS After fasted for 15h - 18h , rabbits were anesthetized with urethane (1 0g/kg) . Gallbladder pressure (GP) was measured by a frog bladder perfused with normal saline. RESULTS After microinjection of TRH (8 8nmol, 1μl ) into DVC, GP was raised and the frequency of phasic contraction of gallbladder (FPCGB) increased. All the doses of TRH (0 13, 0 25, 0 50, 0 80, 1 30nmol , 1μl ) injected into DVC could excite the motility of gallblader. As the dose of TRH was enlarged, the amplitude and duration of the reaction increased. Effects of TRH in DVC on motility of the gallbladder could be completely abolished by atropine ( 0 2mg/g , i.v.) or vagotomy, but could not be inhibited by phentolamine iv (1 5mg/g) or propranolol iv (1.5mg/g) or by transecting the spinal cord. CONCLUSION Thyrotropin releasing hormone in DVC can excite motility of gallbladder. This effect was mediated by vagus nerves and peripheral M receptor. Its physiological significance may be related to maintaining the phasic contraction of gallbladder in interdigestive period.

Heat transfer in the evacuated collector tube is a three-dimensional laminar natural convection prob-lem driven by buoyancy. Because of its complexity, no effective theoretical model is available despiteof limited experimental work which is confined to one aspect- The present work aims to depict theconvective heat transfer inside a tweended inclined tube with East-West symmetric heat input us-ing numerical methods. Based on reasonable assumptions, governing equations of the inside fluid areestabllshed. The corresponding discretizated equations are solved by employing numerical *** calculated results are displayed for velocity and temperature profiles on different cross-sectionalplanes, which present the flow pattern characterized by upflow and dowallow along the axial direc-tion and adherent flow along the peripheral direction, and the heat transfer process from the wall tothe center. Furthermore, the transient Nusselt number and average temperature level are shown anddiscussed. Finally, the parametric effects of the tube radius and the heat input on the flow and heattransfer are also given.

Effect of blueberry on hepatic and immunological functions in mice

BACKGROUND: Conventional drugs used in the treatment and prevention of liver diseases often have side effects, therefore research into natural substances are of significance. This study examined the effects of blueberry on liver protection and cellular immune functions. METHODS: To determine the effects of blueberry on liver protective function, male mice were orally administered blueberry (0.6 g/10 g) or normal saline for 21 days. Hepatic RNA was extracted by Trizol reagent, and the expression of Nrf2, HO-1, and Nqol was determined by real-time RTPCR. Superoxide dismutase (SOD) and malondialdehyde (MDA) in liver homogenate were determined, and liver index was measured. To assess the effects of blueberry on cellular immune function, male mice received blueberry (0.4, 0.6, or 0.8 g/10 g) for 35 days, and the percentages of CD3(+), CD41(+), and CDS(+) T lymphocyte subgroups in peripheral blood were detected by flow cytometry, the index of the thymus and spleen was measured, and lymphocyte proliferation in the spleen was determined by MTT assay. RESULTS: Blueberry treatment significantly increased the expression of Nrf2, HO-1, and Nqol, the important antioxidant components in the liver. Hepatic SOD in the blueberry group was higher and MDA was lower than that in the control group (P<0.05). Blueberry also increased the index of the spleen and enhanced the proliferation of lymphocytes of the spleen (P<0.05). The percentages of the CD3(+) and CDA(+) T lymphocyte subsets and the CD4(+)/CD8(+) ratio were also increased by blueberry (P<0.05). CONCLUSIONS: Blueberry induces expression of Nrf2, HO-1, and Nqol, which can protect hepatocytes from oxidative stress. In addition, blueberry can modulate T-cell function in mice.
