We study the oscillations in the spontaneous emission rate of an atom near a dielectric slab. The emission rate is calculated as a function of system size using quantum electrodynamics. It exhibits multi-periodic oscillations. Four frequencies of the oscillations are extracted by Fourier transforms. They agree with actions of photon closed-orbits going away and returning to the atom. These oscillations are explained as manifestations of quantum interference effects between the emitted photon wave near the atom and the returning photon waves travelling along various closed-orbits.

The equivalence of the Ising model on a fractal lattice having two-and three-site couplings with the Ising model having only two-site interaction in a non-zero magnetic field on the same lattice is derived by a partial tracing which effectively decimates triplet *** is shown that the system is in ordered phase and no phase transition exists at any finite *** trivial transition occurs at T=∞.In particular,we find that the pure triplet interaction Ising model is equivalent to one with pure nearest-neighbor pair interaction on the lattice,and the two systems have the same critical *** is in contrast with that of triangular lattice and Sierpinski gasket fractal.

When the cross section of J/ψproduction is considered as varying with the energy of the nucleon-nucleon interaction,the production of J/ψin pA and A A collisions has been studied by using FRITIOF *** calculation shows that the cross section of J/ψproduction“per nucleon-nucleon collision”decreases with the increasing mass number and centrality as a consequence of continuous energy loss of the projectile nucleons to the target nucleons in their successive binary nucleon-nucleon *** model predictions have been compared with the experimental data of J/ψproduction.

Folding of hvdrophobic polypeptides consisting 18-26 amino acids into unique 3D structures neara membrane is investigated by Monte Carlo simulations using the bond fluctuation *** a 18residue polypeptide chain. Its ground state structure is a helix for bending rigidity e*** folding pathway of polypeptides in a non-polarenvironment is found to favor the helical structure over the double helix. In the case where thedouble helix is the ground state. the polypeptide chains always fold into a helix before they reachthe ground *** mean first passage time (MFPT) of the double helix is 100 times longer thanthat of the helix.

The magnetic field and density behaviors of various thermodynamic quantities of strange quark matter under compact star conditions are investigated in the framework of the thermodynamically self-consistent quasiparticle *** individual species,a larger number density n_(i) leads to a larger magnetic field strength threshold that aligns all particles parallel or antiparallel to the magnetic ***,in contrast to the finite baryon density effect which reduces the spin polarization of magnetized strange quark matter,the magnetic field effect leads to an enhancement of *** also compute the sound velocity as a function of the baryon density and find the sound velocity shows an obvious oscillation with increasing *** for the oscillation,the sound velocity grows with increasing density,similar to the zero-magnetic field case,and approaches the conformal limit V_(s)^(2)=1/3 at high densities from below.

The Noether current and its variation relation with respect to diffeomorphism invariance of gravitationaltheories have been derived from the horizontal variation and vertical-horizontal bi-variation of the Lagrangian, respec-tively. For Einstein's GR in the stationary, axisymmetric black holes, the mass formula in vacuum can be derived fromthis Noether current although it definitely vanishes. This indicates that the mass formula of black holes is a vanishingNoether charge in this case. The first law of black hole thermodynamics can also be derived from the variation relationof this vanishing Noether current.
