Oxidative stress is one of the main ways to cause alcohol-induced liver injury,and alcoholic liver disease(ALD)has been a common health problem *** acid bacteria(LAB)is also considered as a potential treatment to alleviate alcohol-induced liver *** plantarum J26 is a LAB isolated from Chinese traditional fermented dairy products with excellent probiotic *** study aimed to establish a mice model of alcoholic liver injury through acute-on-chronic alcohol feeding and to study the alleviating effect of pre-intake of *** J26 on alcohol-induced oxidative liver injury and focus on its potential mechanism of alleviating *** results showed that pre-intake of *** J26 could improve liver pathological changes,reduce lipid accumulation,increase mitochondrial ATP and mitochondrial(mtDNA)levels,and alleviate liver *** addition,pre-intake *** J26 can improve the level of short-chain fatty acids(SCFAs)in the intestines in mice,short chain fatty acids can be used as a signaling molecule activation of nuclear factor E2-related factor 2(Nrf2)signaling pathway to alleviate liver oxidative stress,and maintain mitochondrial homeostasis by regulating the expression of genes related to mitochondrial dynamics and autophagy,thereby reducing cell apoptosis to alleviate alcohol-induced oxidative liver injury.

Selenomethionine alleviates chronic heat stress-induced breast muscle injury and poor meat quality in broilers via relieving mitochondrial dysfunction and endoplasmic reticulum stress

In the present study,the chronic heat stress （CHS） broiler model was developed to investigate the potential protection mechanism of organic selenium （selenomethionine,SeMet） on CHS-induced skeletal muscle growth retardation and poor meat *** hundred Arbor Acres male broilers （680±70 g,21 d old） were grouped into 5 treatments with 8 replicates of 10 broilers per *** in the control group were raised in a thermoneutral environment （22±2°C） and fed with a basal *** other four treatments were exposed to hyperthermic conditions （33±2°C,24 h in each day） and fed on the basal diet supplied with SeMet at 0.0,0.2,0.4,and 0.6 mg Se/kg,respectively,for 21 *** showed that CHS reduced （P<0.05） the growth performance,decreased （P<0.05） the breast muscle weight and impaired the meat quality of breast muscle in *** induced protein metabolic disorder in breast muscle,which increased （P<0.05） the expression of caspase 3,caspase 8,caspase 9 and ubiquitin proteasome system related genes,while decreased the protein expression of *** also decreased the antioxidant capacity and induced mitochondrial stress and endoplasmic reticulum （ER） stress in breast muscle,which increased （P<0.05） the ROS levels,decreased the concentration of ATP,increased the protein expression of HSP60 and CLPX,and increased （P<0.05） the expression of ER stress *** SeMet supplementation linearly increased （P<0.05） breast muscle Se concentration and exhibited protective effects via up-regulating the expression of the selenotranscriptome and several key selenoproteins,which increased （P<0.05） body weight,improved meat quality,enhanced antioxidant capacity and mitigated mitochondrial stress and ER ***'s more,SeMet suppressed protein degradation and improved protein biosynthesis though inhibiting the caspase and ubiquitin proteasome system and promoting the mTOR-4EBP1 *** conclusion,dietary SeMet supplementation increases the expression of

Food allergy (FA) is an aberrant immune response triggered by the ingestion of a food antigen. Ovalbumin (OVA)-sensitized and challenged BALB/c mice were orally administered heat-killed (HK)-L. paracasei JY56. In this work， HK-L. paracasei JY56 alleviated the FA-induced decrease in body weight and rectal temperature and reduced the allergy score. Serum analysis showed that HK-L. paracasei JY56 reduced the levels of specific antibodies (OVA-sIgE and OVA-sIgG) and allergic mediators (histamine and mast cell protease) in FA mice. In addition， HK-L. paracasei JY56 also could alleviate OVA-induced FA by suppressing Th2 and Th17-type immune responses， which was evidenced by the regulation of splenic lymphocyte subpopulations and associated cytokine secretion. Moreover， jejunal histological analysis and intestinal barrier function related gene expression measurement were performed to verify the intestinal barrier repair of HK-L. paracasei JY56. Meanwhile， the TLR4/NF-κB inflammatory pathway activation was inhibited by HK-L. paracasei JY56 at gene and protein levels. Finally， HK-L. paracasei JY56 was performed to modulate the gut microbiota structure and increase the levels of short-chain fatty acids. In conclusion， HK-L. paracasei JY56 could alleviate OVA-induced FA in multiple ways， and this study provides a theoretical basis for the application of inactivated probiotics in functional foods for FA.

Rotaviruses(RV) are a major cause of severe gastroenteritis, particularly in neonatal piglets. Despite the availability of effective vaccines, the development of antiviral therapies for RV remains an ongoing challenge. Retinoic acid(RA), a metabolite of vitamin A, has been shown to have anti-oxidative and antiviral properties. However, the mechanism by which RA exerts its intestinal-protective and antiviral effects on RV infection is not fully understood. The study investigates the effects of RA supplementation in Duroc × Landrace × Yorkshire(DLY) piglets challenged with RV. Thirty-six DLY piglets were assigned into six treatments, including a control group, RA treatment group with two concentration gradients(5and 15 mg/d), RV treatment group, and RV treatment group with the addition of different concentration gradients of RA(5 and 15 mg/d). Our study revealed that RV infection led to extensive intestinal architecture damage, which was mitigated by RA treatment at lower concentrations by increasing the villus height and villus height/crypt depth ratio(P < 0.05), enhancing intestinal stem cell signaling and promoting intestinal barrier functions. In addition, 15 mg/d RA supplementation significantly increased NRF2 and HO-1 protein expression(P < 0.05) and GSH content(P < 0.05), indicating that RA supplementation can enhance anti-oxidative signaling and redox homeostasis after RV challenge. Additionally,the research demonstrated that RA exerts a dual impact on the regulation of autophagy, both stimulating the initiation of autophagy and hindering the flow of autophagic flux. Through the modulation of autophagic flux, RA influence the progression of RV infection. These findings provide new insights into the regulation of redox hemostasis and autophagy by RA and its potential therapeutic application in RV infection.

Obesity is associated with gut dysbiosis and metabolic *** tea extract(JSTE)reduced fat accumulation and body weight in obese ***,the effects and mechanism of JSTE in preventing obesity were ***,we used different doses of JSTE(75,150 and 300 mg/(kg·day))to evaluate the effect on high-fat diet(HFD)-induced rats under 8 weeks of ***,our results showed that JSTE could significantly reduce body weight gain,blood lipid levels and fat accumulation,improve fatty damage in liver tissue(P<0.05).In addition,JSTE increased the expression of intestinal tight junction proteins(P<0.05),relieved metabolic endotoxemia(P<0.05)and chronic low-grade inflammation in HFD *** of fecal samples showed that JSTE could effectively reverse the microbial diversity and the ratio of Firmicutes to Bacteroidetes to normal levels in HFD-fed *** and Erysipelotrichaceae,which are positively related to obesity,were decreased by JSTE intervention(P<0.05).while Bifidobacteriaceae,Bacteroidaceae,Akkermansia,and Clostridium,which are negatively related to obesity,were ***,these results suggested that JSTE might effectively prevent obesity by modulating gut microbiota dysbiosis,intestinal barrier dysfunction,metabolic endotoxemia and chronic low-grade infl ammation in HFD-induced rats.

Hemoglobin is responsible for transporting oxygen from the lungs to body ***,this protein is a tetramer composed of two a-globin chains and twoβ-globin *** sheep,the β-globin locus is of particular interest because it contains two different haplotypes,namely haplotype A(hap A)and hap B,which differ in length by more than 30 kb and do not undergo recombination with each other due to low sequence similarity(Bauer and Jung,1975;Jiang et al.,2015).The two haplotypes also differ in gene content with hap A possessing two clusters of hemoglobin gene families and hap B possessing only one(Aguiletam et al.,2004),which implies differentiation in their functional *** A was speculated to be associated with high-altitude adaptation in sheep(Hu et al.,2019).

Walnut dreg protein hydrolysates(WDPHs)exhibit a variety of biological activities,however,the cyclooxygenase-2(COX-2)inhibitory peptide of WDPHs remain *** aim of this study was to rapidly screen for such peptides in WDPHs through a combination of in silico and in vitro *** total,1262 peptide sequences were observed by nano liquid chromatography/tandem mass spectrometry(nano LC-MS/MS)and 4 novel COX-2 inhibitory peptides(AGFP,FPGA,LFPD,and VGFP)were *** kinetic data indicated that AGFP,FPGA,and LFPD displayed mixed-type COX-2 inhibition,whereas VGFP was a non-competitive *** is mainly because the peptides form hydrogen bonds and hydrophobic interactions with residues in the COX-2 active *** results demonstrate that computer analysis combined with in vitro evaluation allows for rapid screening of COX-2 inhibitory peptides in walnut protein dregs.
