Kidney-yang deficiency syndrome(KYDS)is a diagnostic pattern in the traditional Chinese *** have shown that KYDS is related to the functional disorder of hormones of the hypothalamic-pituitary-target gland *** standard procedure used to mimic KYDS is the injection of a high dose of exogenous glucocorticoid(hydrocortisone and corticosterone).Such a model showed symptoms such as exhaustion,body twists,cold limbs,lying crowded together,decreased rectal temperature,sexual dysfunction,decreased reaction speed,reduced spontaneous activity,hair loss,loss of appetite,and weight ***,the model manifested an imbalance in mutual control among the hormones of the pituitary-target gland axes,including adrenocorticotrophic hormone,CORT,CRH,thyroid-stimulating hormone,triiodothyronine,thyroxine,T,E2,follicle-stimulating hormone,luteinizing hormone,and 17-OHCS.

Tumor infiltrating lymphocytes (TIL) were cultured with “moxibustion serum”(MS), and the results were examined by flow cytometry. The results indicated that MS could enhance the proliferation of TIL,accelerate it to reach the exponential growth phase, and assist recombinant interleukin 2 (rIL-2) to enhance successively the percentage of CD3^+ positive cells, maintain the number of CD4^+ positive T cells, promote greatly the percentage of CD8^+ positive T cells among TILs, and reverse the CD4^+/CD8^+ ratio. Such cooperative effects rely on relative specificity of acupoints. It is suggested that MS is beneficial to the growth of TIL both in the aspects of proliferation and phenotypes.

OBJECTIVES: To study the expression of inflammatory signal in local prostate tissue of chronic pelvic pain syndrome(CPPS) rats by electroacupuncture(EA) of Guanyuan(CV4), Zhongji(CV3), Huiyang(BL35) and Sanyinjiao(SP6), and to explore the possible mechanism of anti-inflammatory and analgesic effects of EA. METHODS : A total of 36 Sprague-Dawley male rats were randomly divided into three groups: control, model and EA(n=12 rats/group). The CPPS model was made by injection of CFA into ventral lobes of the prostate(0.1 m L). Electric acupuncture apparatus was applied to stimulate Guanyuan(CV4), Zhongji(CV3), bilateral Huiyang(BL35) and Sanyinjiao(SP6) acupoints in EA group. The general condition of rats was observed and the prostate index(PI) was calculated. The thermal pain threshold was collected after each therapeutic course. Histopathological changes of the prostate tissue were examined by hematoxylin-eosin staining method. The expression levels of tumor necrosis factor α(TNF-α), interleukin-1β(IL-1β) and prostaglandin E2(PGE2) in prostatic homogenates were measured by enzyme linked immunosorbent assay(ELISA). Moreover, the expression levels of purinergic 2X7 receptor(P2X7R), NOD-like receptor pyrin domain-containing 3(NLRP3), caspase-1 and interleukin-18(IL-18) m RNA were quantified by quantitative real-time polymerase chain reaction. RESULTS: Compared with control group, the PI of rats increased, and the thermal pain threshold decreased significantly in model group. The morphological structure of prostate tissues of rats in model group was severely damaged with a large number of inflammatory cells infiltration. Additionally, the levels of TNF-α, IL-1β and PGE2 were higher, and the expressions of P2X7R, NLRP3, caspase-1 and IL-18 m RNA were higher than those in control group. OBJECTIVE:To conduct a systematic review to assess the clinical effectiveness of scalp acupuncture(SA) for ***:Literature searches were performed in7 databases up to 16 August 2014,and all the randomized controlled trials(RCTs) in which SA therapy was administered to stroke patients were *** quality was assessed using the Jadad score,the Cochrane risk of bias assessment,and the Standards for Reporting Interventions in Clinical Trials of ***:Of a total of 2086 papers,21 RCTs were ***-analysis revealed significant differences in the total efficacy rates of the SA group and the body acupuncture(BA) group vs the medication group(P < 0.002,P < 0.000 001,respectively),the SA plus BA group vs the BA group(P < 0.001);in the motor function of the SA plus BA group vs the BA group(P = 0.077);and in the nerve function of the SA group vs the SA plus BA group(P < 0.0001).CONCLUSION:The results of our systematic review showed that SA therapy may exhibit effects in treatment efficacy and in the recovery of motor and nervous functions in patients with acute to chronic ***,because of the lack of methodological quality,the thoroughly planned clinical studies are still required.

OBJECTIVE： To explore the effect of electroacu- puncture and Chinese kidney-nourishing medicine on insulin （INS）, adiponectin （APN）, leptin （LEP）, and glucolipid metabolism of obese patients with polycystic ovary syndrome （PCOS）. METHODS： Sixty-seven obese PCOS patients were randomly divided into two groups. Thirty-three pa- tients in the acupuncture-medicine group were treated three times a week with electroacupunc- ture at the Tianshu （ST 25）, Zhongwan （CV ] 2）, Qi- hai （CV 6）, Sanyinjiao （SP 6）, Geshu （BL 17）, and Cil-iao （BL 32） acupoints. They drug, Tiankui capsule, for 3 treatment. Point-taking and also took the Chinese months as a course of treatment in the elec- troacupuncture group of 34 patients was the same as those in the acupuncture-medicine group. We observed and compared the changes in the obesi- ty-related indexes of body weight （BW）, body mass index （BMI）, and waist-hip ratio （WHR）, as well as fasting plasma glucose （FPG）, fasting insulin （FINS）, APN, and LER RESULTS： BW, BMI, WHR, and FINS decreased and insulin sensitivity index （ISI） and APN were higher in the acupuncture-medicine group than in the electroacupuncture group （P〈0.01）. There was no obvious difference in LEP between the two groups （P〉0.05）. CONCLUSION： Acupuncture combined with medi- cine is better than just electroacupuncture for obese PCOS patients by improving obesity-related indexes, insulin sensitivity, and APN level. This indi- cates that acupuncture-medicine therapy is worth clinical popularization.

Objective： To explore the action mechanism of electroacupuncture （EA） in improving the gastric motility of rats with diabetic gastroparesis （DGP）. Methods： Forty-eight healthy Sprague-Dawley （SD） rats were randomly assigned into four groups： a normal group （group A）, a model group （group B）, a group of EA at acupoints （group C）, and a group of EA at non-acupoints （group D）, 12 rats in each group. The animal model of DGP was established by intraperitoneal injection of streptozotocin （STZ） plus high glucose and fat diet. The blood glucose, urine glucose and gastric emptying rate （GER） were observed. The content of insulin （INS） in serum and ghrelin in gastric antrum tissue were detected by enzyme linked immunoassay （ELISA）. The expression of growth hormone secretagogue receptor mRNA （GHSR mRNA） in gastric antrum tissue was detected by real-time fluorescent quantitative polymerase chain reaction （PCR）. Results：Compared with group A, blood glucose and urine glucose increased significantly （P〈0.01）, GER, content of serum insulin, the content of ghrelin and expression of GHSR mRNA in gastric antrum tissue decreased significantly （P〈0.05 orP〈0.01） in group B. Compared with group B, blood glucose and urine glucose decreased significantly （P〈0.05）, GER, the content of insulin in serum, the content of ghrelin and expression of GHSR mRNA in gastric antrum tissue increased significantly （P〈0.05 orP〈0.01） in group C. Conclusion： EA at acupoints can down-regulate the content of blood and urine sugar, and promote gastric emptying, which is possibly related to the regulation of serum insulin, and the expressions of ghrelin and GHSR mRNA in gastric antrum.

BACKGROUND： Electrophysiology can prove the integration of afferent information from the stomach meridian of Foot-Yangming in the nucleus tractus solitarius （NTS） and objectively describe the specific association between meridian vessels and Zang Fu organs. OBJECTIVE： To investigate the effects of afferent information from acupuncture at Sibai （ST 2） acupoint on neuronal discharge in rat NTS. DESIGN, TIME AND SETFING： A randomized, controlled, animal experiment was performed at the Key Laboratory of Meridian-Vessels and Zang Fu Organs, Traditional Chinese Medicine University of Hunan, State Administration of Traditional Chinese Medicine, and Key Laboratory of Acupuncture, Moxibustion, and the Biological Information of Hunan Higher Education Institutes, between December 2005 and October 2008. MATERIALS： A total of 52 Sprague Dawley rats, of either gender, aged 4 months, were included in this study. Acupuncture needles of 0.32 mm （diameter） x 40 mm （length） were used. METHODS： An extracellular recording protocol was applied. The Sibai （ST 2） acupoint in the stomach meridian of Foot-Yangming was used as an acupuncture point （acupoint）. Simultaneously, Dicang （ST 4） and Neiting （ST 44） acupoints in the stomach meridian of Foot-Yangming, Quanliao （S118） acupoint in the small intestine meridian of Hand-Taiyang, and a non-acupoint lateral to Sibai （ST 2） acupoint, were selected as controls. The Sibai （ST 2） acupoint was stimulated for 30 seconds by hand acupuncture through twirling and rotating, to determine the neurons responding to body surface stimulation in the NTS. MAIN OUTCOME MEASURES： Frequency of responding NTS neurons after acupuncture at four acupoints including Sibai （ST 2）, Dicang （ST 4）, Neiting （ST 44） and Quanliao （SI 18） and one non-acupoint.
