Selective modification of peptides has always been a challenging issue. The selective alkylation of peptides can alter the biological activity and physical properties of molecules, and it has gained significant research interest. We herein disclose an intriguing gold-catalyzed alkylation of peptides using bench-stable unactivated alkyl bromides under photoredox catalysis. A wide range of structurally diverse primary, secondary and tertiary alkyl bromides serve as effective coupling partners to precisely connect with the α-C(sp3)–H in glycine residue of peptides. This protocol demonstrates an exceptionally broad scope for alkyl halides and excellent tolerance for a wide range of useful functional groups. A series of relay transformations to construct cyclic peptides, to proceed click reaction and to realize peptide fluorescence labeling further enhance its synthetic practicality. In addition, mechanistic studies and density functional theory(DFT) calculations reveal an inner-sphere and subsequent outersphere single electron transfer(SET) mechanism.

The new millennium has witnessed the rapid development of synthetic organofluorine chemistry all over the world, and chemists in China have made significant contributions in this field. This review aims to provide a brief introduction to China’s primary innovations from 2000 to early 2017, covering fluorination,fluoroalkylation, fluoromethylthiolation, fluoroolefination and polyfluoroarylation, as well as synthesis with fluorinated building blocks. Recent advances in the chemistry of difluorocarbene and the chemistry of carbon–fluorine bond activation are also discussed. As a conclusion, the review ends with some personal perspectives on the future development of China’s synthetic organofluorine chemistry.

Porous organic cages(POCs)with permanent porosity and excellent host–guest property hold great potentials in regulating ion transport behavior,yet their feasibility as solid-state electrolytes has never been testified in a practical ***,we design and fabricate a quasi-solid-state electrolyte(QSSE)based on a POC to enable the stable operation of Li-metal batteries(LMBs).Benefiting from the ordered channels and cavity-induced anion-trapping effect of POC,the resulting POC-based QSSE exhibits a high Li+transference number of 0.67 and a high ionic conductivity of 1.25×10^(−4) S cm^(−1) with a low activation energy of 0.17 *** allow for homogeneous Li deposition and highly reversible Li plating/stripping for over 2000 *** a proof of concept,the LMB assembled with POC-based QSSE demonstrates extremely stable cycling performance with 85%capacity retention after 1000 ***,our work demonstrates the practical applicability of POC as SSEs for LMBs and could be extended to other energy-storage systems,such as Na and K batteries.

In view of quantum pharmacology, the structure-activity relationships of different kinds of fused heterocydic sulfonamides with the same mode of action were first investigated using molecular mechanics, quantum chemistry and discriminatory analysis. It has been found that the process of the interaction of the fused heterocydic sulfonamide with ALS enzyme involves the electropositive region of the sulfonyl bridge chain and the electronegative region of the heterocydic moiety. The herbicidal activity is related to the potency of electric charge translocation of the related regions.

This article describes recent developments in chemical study on a series of butterfly-shaped μ-CO-containing Fe/E (E = S, Se, Te) cluster salts. These salts include eleven novel cluster anions, which are the single butterfly one μ-CO-containing [(μ-RE)(μ-CO)Fe2(CO)6]- (A), the double butterfly two μ-CO-containing {[(μ-CO)Fe2(CO)6]2(μ-EZE-μ)}2- (B, E = S; C, E = Se), the triple butterfly three μ-CO- containing {[(μ-CO)Fe2(CO)6]3[(μ-SCH2CH2)3N]}3- (D), {[(μ-CO)Fe2(CO)6]3[1,3,5-(μ-SCH2)3C6H3]}3- (E), {[(μ- CO)Fe2(CO)6]3[(μ-SCH2)3CMe]}3- (F), the double butterfly one μ-CO-containing {[(μ-CO)Fe2(CO)6] [Fe2(CO)6][(μ-SCH2)3CMe]} - (G) derived in situ from F, the quadruple butterfly four μ-CO-containing {[(μ- CO)Fe2(CO)6]4[1,2,4,5-(μ-SCH2)4C6H2]}4- (H), the triple butterfly two μ-CO-containing {[(μ-CO)Fe2(CO)6]2 [Fe2(CO)6][1,2,4,5-(μ-SCH2)4C6H2]}2- (I) derived in situ from H, the quadruple butterfly four μ-CO-con- taining {[(μ-CO)Fe2(CO)6]4[(μ-SCH2)4C]}4- (J), and the triple butterfly two μ-CO-containing {[(μ-CO)Fe2 (CO)6]2[Fe2(CO)6][(μ-SCH2)4C]}2- (K) derived in situ from J. This article describes not only the synthetic methods for formation of such anionic cluster (A-K) salts, but also their novel reactions leading to various new types of butterfly Fe/E cluster complexes. All these findings described in this article are important both theoretically and practically.

The influence of chemical structure of ester alkyl group of mono-alkyl isopropylphosphonates on the extraction behaviours of rare earth has been studied. The mono-alkyl isopropylphosphonate bearing β-substituted ester alkyl group shows high Kex value, which is evidently depressed, usually in two orders of magnitude, by introducing a branch chain on the α-position of the ester alkyl group. The steric effect of ligand is usually enhanced due to the characteristic lanthanide contraction.z2The extraction chemistry of rare earths by mono-amylnonyl isopropylphosphonates （MANPP） was studied in detail The thermodynamic function was estimated and the 'tetrad effect' between Kex value or △G value and atomic number was observed. In addition, the composition and structure of the coordinated compound was studied. As demonstrated by the experimental data, the extractive separation of Sm and Nd by MANPP in chloride solution was better than that in nitrate system.

The cycloaddition reactions of a-acetyoxyl propynes with difluorocarbene, generated from the decomposition of FSO2CF2CO2SiMe3 in DG in the presence of 10% of NaF at 120℃ gave readily a-acetyoxyl gem-difluorocyclopropenes. When these fluorinated compounds were hydrolyzed under alkaline condition at 0℃, α-hydroxyl cyclopropenones were produced predominantly whereas treated with catalytic amounts of BF3·Et2O in Et2O, α-acetyoxyl cyclopropenones were obtained.
