Hardware Assisted Fast Volume Rendering with Boundary Enhancement

In this paper, a new volume rendering method with boundary enhancement is presented. The boundary is extracted and represented by surfaces explicitly. Then, using 3D texture mapping and graphics acceleration hardware, the volume data can be rendered with controllable boundary shading effect almost in real time. Test shows that this method is 4-5 times faster than the previous methods. Moreover, it can also be extended to render the surfaces and the volumetric data together interactively.

Bayesian networks have become a popular technique for representing and reasoning with probabilistic information. The fuzzy functional dependency is an important kind of data dependencies in relational databases with fuzzy values. The purpose of this paper is to set up a connection between these data dependencies and Bayesian networks. The connection is done through a set of methods that enable people to obtain the most information of independent conditions from fuzzy functional dependencies.

An Approach to Concurrent TTCN Test Generation

The basis of distributed system conformance testing is to test theconformance of each entity with its standard. This paper addresses the approach toentity conformance testing based on concurrent TTCN. First a preliminary framework for entity conformance testing is introduced and a specification model CEBEis presented. Then a test generation method, which could directly derive concurrentTTCN test suite from CEBE, is proposed.

Physics experiments that generate large amounts of data need to be able to share it with researchers around the world .High performance grids facilitate the distribution of such data to geographically remote *** replication can be used as a technique to reduce bandwidth consumption and access latency in accessuing these huge amounts of *** describe a simulation framework that we have developed to model a grid scenario,which enables comparative studies of alternative dynamic replication *** present preliminary results obtained with this simulator,in which we evaluate the performance of six different replication strategies for three different kinds of access *** simulation results show that the best strategy has significant savings in latency and bandwidth consumption if the access patterns contain a moderate amount of gerographical locality.
