Background The objective of this study is to determine the role of tumor marker density(TMD)values such as alpha-fetoprotein tumor volume ratio(ATVR),beta-human chorionic gonadotropin tumor volume ratio(βTVR),alpha-fetoprotein testicle size ratio(ATSR),beta-human chorionic gonadotropin testicle size ratio(βTSR),lactate dehydrogenase tumor volume ratio(LTVR),and lactate dehydrogenase testicle size ratio(LTSR)in the determination of progression-free survival(PFS)in patients with testicular *** and methods A retrospective study was conducted of 95 patients followed-up in our clinic with a diagnosis of testicular cancer between January 2015 and August *** were grouped according to clinical stage,as either early stage(n=50)or advanced stage(n=45).Clinical and pathological data and TMD values for all patients were *** The median age of patients was 35 years(21–63 years).All TMDs except LTVR in advanced stage patients were found to be significantly higher than those of early stage patients(p<0.05).Median ATVR(2.58 vs.0.0),ATSR(0.63 vs.0.03),βTVR(0.9 vs.0.009),andβTSR(0.18 vs.0.007)of the nonseminoma patients were found to be significantly higher than those of the seminoma patients,respectively(p<0.001).Progression-free survival(months)was decreased in seminoma patients with high values ofβTVR(11.3±1.9 vs.35.2±0.7),βTSR(16.2±3.4 vs.35.2±0.75),LTVR(17.7±3.4 vs.35.2±0.7),and LTSR(21.5±3.13 vs.35.09±0.8)(p<0.001).Decreased PFS(months)was associated with higher values of ATVR(5.37±0.7 vs.35.05±0.93),βTVR(7.4±1.5 vs.34.6±1.3),ATSR(5.37±0.75 vs.35.05±0.9),βTSR(7±1.5 vs.34.6±1.3),and LTSR(7.9±1.2 vs.34.3±1.5)in nonseminoma patients(p<0.001).Based on multivariate analysis,βTVR-LTVR and ATVR-ATSR were determined to be independent risk factors for reduced PFS in seminoma and nonseminoma patients,respectively(p<0.05).Conclusions The results of this study suggest that the calculation of TMDs could be a promising and simple method for prediction of PF

The incre asing interest in RNA modifications has signifcantly advanced epigenomic and epitranscriptomic *** study focuses on the immuno oncological impact of ALYREF in human cancer through a pan-cancer analysis,enhancing understanding of this gene's role in *** observed differential ALYREF expression between tumor and normal samples,correl ating strongly with prognosis in various cancers,particularly kidney renal papillary cell carcinoma(KIRP)and liver hepatocellular carcinoma(LIHC).ALYREF showed a negative correlation with most tumor-infitrating cells in lung squamous cell carcinoma(LUSC)and lymphoid neoplasm difuse large B-cell lymphoma(DLBC),while positive correlations were noted in IIHC,kidney chromophobe(KICH),mesothelioma(MESO),KIRP,pheochromocytoma and paraganglioma(PARD),and glioma(GBMLGG).Aditionally,ALYREF expression was closely associated with tumor heterogeneity,stemness indices,and a high mutation rate in TP53 across these *** conclusion,ALYREF may serve as an oncogenic biomarker in numerous cancers,meriting further research attention.

Transurethral prostate surgery in prostate cancer patients: A population-based comparative analysis of complication and mortality rates

Mitochondriopathy inspired adenosine triphosphate(ATP) depletions have been recognized as a powerful way for controlling tumor growth. Nevertheless, selective sequestration or exhaustion of ATP under complex biological environments remains a prodigious challenge. Harnessing the advantages of in vivo self-assembled nanomaterials, we designed an Intracellular ATP Sequestration(IAS) system to specifically construct nanofibrous nanostructures on the surface of tumor nuclei with exposed ATP binding sites,leading to highly efficient suppression of bladder cancer by induction of mitochondriopathy-like ***, the reported transformable nucleopeptide(NLS-FF-T) self-assembled into nuclear-targeted nanoparticles with ATP binding sites encapsulated inside under aqueous conditions. By interaction with KPNA2, the NLS-FF-T transformed into a nanofibrous-based ATP trapper on the surface of tumor nuclei,which prevented the production of intracellular energy. As a result, multiple bladder tumor cell lines(T24,EJ and RT-112) revealed that the half-maximal inhibitory concentration(IC50) of NLS-FF-T was reduced by approximately 4-fold when compared to NLS-T. Following intravenous administration, NLS-FF-T was found to be dose-dependently accumulated at the tumor site of T24 xenograft mice. More significantly, this IAS system exhibited an extremely antitumor efficacy according to the deterioration of T24 tumors and simultaneously prolonged the overall survival of T24 orthotopic xenograft mice. Together, our findings clearly demonstrated the therapeutic advantages of intracellular ATP sequestration-induced mitochondriopathy-like damages, which provides a potential treatment strategy for malignancies.

Objective:To review the risk of prostate cancer(PCa)in men with incidentally reported increased intraprostatic uptake at 2-deoxy-2-[18F]fluoro-d-glucose positron emission tomography/computed tomography(18F-FDG PET/CT)ordered at Department of urology,The Wesley Hospital,Brisbane,QLD,Australia for non-PCa related ***:Retrospective analysis of consecutive men between August 2014 and August 2019 presenting to a single institution for 18F-FDG PET/CT for non-prostate related conditions was *** were classified as benign,indeterminate,or malignant depending of the results of prostate-specific antigen(PSA),PSA velocity,biopsy histopathology,and three-Tesla(3 T)multiparametric MRI(mpMRI)Prostate Imaging Reporting and Data System score,or gallium-68-prostate-specific membrane antigen(68Ga-PSMA)PET/CT ***:Three percent(273/9122)of men demonstrated 18F-FDG avidity within the ***-five percent(231/273)were further investigated,including with PSA tests(227/231,98.3%),3 T mpMRI(68/231,29.4%),68Ga-PSMA PET/CT(33/231,14.3%),and prostate biopsy(57/231,24.7%).Results were considered benign in 130/231(56.3%),indeterminate in 31/231(13.4%),and malignant in 70/231(30.3%).PCa was identified in 51/57(89.5%)of the men who proceeded to biopsy,including 26/27(96.3%)men with Prostate Imaging Reporting and Data System scores 4-5 mpMRI and six men with a positive 68Ga-PSMA PET/*** most common Gleason score on biopsy was greater than or equal to 4+5(14/51,27.5%).68Ga-PSMA PET/CT was concordant with the 18F-FDG findings in 26/33(78.8%).All 13 men with a positive concordant 18F-FDG,3 T mpMRI,and 68Ga-PSMA PET/CT had PCa on *** was no statistically significant difference in the 18F-FDG maximum standardized uptake value between the benign or malignant groups(5.7 vs.6.1;p=0.580).Conclusion:In this study,after an incidental finding of an avid intraprostatic lesion on 18F-FDG PET/CT,70 of the 231 cases(30.3%;0.8%of the entire cohort)had results c
