Copper sulfate is a frequently used copper compound in laboratory settings,with instances of poisoning being uncommon.A study conducted by the American Association of Poison Control Centers’National Poison Data System found that only 140 individuals were exposed to copper compounds over the course of a year,with five cases being intentional(Gummin et al.,2023).Severe poisoning from copper sulfate can result in isolated gastrointestinal injury(Galust et al.,2023),intravascular hemolysis(Adline et al.,2024),rhabdomyolysis(Richards et al.,2020),and other symptoms documented in the literature.

In the present work, the glass formation of Zr59Nb5Cu18Ni8Al10 (numbers indicate at %) alloy with diameter of 2 mm was prepared through water-cooled copper mold casting and in a ribbon form by the single roller melt-spinning method. This study is primarily devoted to evaluating the results obtained with the two methods of the development. The thermal stability was evaluated by differential scanning calorimetry (DSC) at a heating rate of 10℃/mn. The characteristic data of the bulk metallic glass are presented, including glass transition temperature (Tg) and crystallization temperature (Tx). The microstructure and constituent phases of the alloy composite have been analyzed by using X-ray diffraction, and observed by Scanning Electron Microscopy (SEM). The mechanical properties of bulk Zr59Nb5Cu18Ni8Al10 were alloy measured by compression tests at room temperature.

This manuscript presents a simple method for excess minority carriers’ lifetime measurement within the base region of p-n junction polycrystalline solar cell in transient mode. This work is an experimental transient 3-Dimensionnal study. The magnitude of the magnetic field B is varied from 0 mT to 0.045 mT. Indeed, the solar cell is illuminated by a stroboscopic flash with air mass 1.5 and under magnetic field in transient state. The experimental details are assumed in a figure. The procedure is outlined by the Open Circuit Voltage Decay analysis. Effective minority carrier life-time is calculated by fitting the linear zone of the transient voltage decay curve because linear decay is an ideal decay. The kaleidagraph software permits access to the slope of the curve which is inversely proportional to the lifetime. The external magnetic effects on minority carriers’ effective lifetime is then presented and analyzed.

Effects of a continuous magnetic field in the direction of streaming on the incompressible Kelvin–Helmholtz instability （KHI） are investigated by solving the linear ideal magnetohydrodynamic equations. It is found that the frequency of the KHI is not influenced by the magnetic field. The magnetic field strength effect decreases the linear growth of the KHI, while the magnetic field gradient scale length effect increases its linear growth. The KHI can even be completely suppressed when the magnetic field is strong enough. The linear growth rate approaches a maximum when the magnetic field gradient scale length is large enough.

In this work, we present an experimental transient 3-Dimensionnal study for the minority charge carriers’ effective lifetime measurement under magnetic field in transient dynamic state. The magnitude of the magnetic field B is varied from 0 mT to 0.03 mT. The method used is mainly based on the open circuit voltage decay method. The solar cell is injected by a low electrical excitation which protects against capacitance effects. Our approach is based on the open circuit voltage decay response analysis. From an experimental set-up, we get the transient voltage data on a digital scope. The data are used for plotting transient voltage decay curves. The curves obtained and analyzed are fitted in their linear zone. This zone presents an ideal decay which permits to get good values of lifetime. The slope of the linear decay is inversely proportional to effective lifetime. The results of fitting permit determinate the effective charge carriers’ lifetime directly. The results obtained are then presented and analyzed. The observations indicate that the charge carriers effective lifetime decrease when the magnetic field increases.

Nonlinear and saturable absorption properties of PbS nanocrystalline thin films

The structural, morphological, optical, and nonlinear optical properties of a lead sulfide （PbS） thin film grown by chemical bath deposition （CBD） are investigated by X-ray diffraction （XRD）, scanning electron microscope （SEM）, ultraviolet-visible （UV-Vis）, and open aperture Z-scan experiments. The band gap energy of the PbS nanocrystalline film is 1.82 eV~ higher than that of bulk PbS at 300 K. The nonlinear absorption properties of the film are investigated using the open aperture Z-scan technique at 1064 nm and pulse durations of 4 ns and 65 ps. Intensity-dependent switching of the film from nonlinear absorption to saturable absorption is observed. The nonlinear absorption coefficient increases monotonically with increasing pulse duration from 65 ps to 4 ns.

Recently Xia and Song [Phys. Lett. A 364 （2007） 117] have proposed a controlled quantum secure direct communication （CQSDC） protocol. They claimed that in their protocol only with the help of the controller Charlie, the receiver Alice can successfully extract the secret message from the sender Bob. In this letter, first we will show that within their protocol the controller Charlie＇s role could have been excluded if it were not for their unreasonable design. We then revise the Xia-Song CQSDC protocol such that its original advantages are reta/ned and the CQSDC can be really realized.
