The present study was designed to investigate the effects of season and lactation number on milk yields in Holstein dairy cows at Kabul Bini Hesar Dairy Farm. For this purpose, data were collected from the dairy farm herd book records during 1392-1393 (2013-2014). Considering the milk yield stages of the cows, the total milk production was highest during the spring season 18,454.95 ± 33 L followed by summer 17,060.85 ± 34.5 L while the lowest milk production obtained in winter 16,398.45 ± 31.5 L. Moreover, the average daily milk production of the cows was significantly different (p 0.05) between the 1st, 2nd and 3rd lactations and the amounts were 12.04 ±

Helicobacter pylori is a human pathogen that is widely distributed and known to cause peptic ulcer, gastritis and gastric cancer. Treatment is usually by combination of acid inhibitory therapy and antibiotics because of drug resistance problems. Studies now focus on the use of medicinal plants for treatment of H. pylori induced ulcers because they are inexpensive and have limited side effects. This study was undertaken to determine the effects of cold water and ethanol extracts of Sida acuta leaves on H. pylori induced ulcer in mice. Oral administration with the aid of a feeding tube of 0.5 ml of 107 CFU/ml of H. pylori (Accession number LT799736) in phosphate buffer saline (pH 6.8) was used to induce ulcer in mice. Effects of various concentrations of cold water and ethanol extracts of S. acuta leaves on the ulcer parameters and histology examinations of stomach tissues of mice were investigated after 2 weeks of administration of extracts into the mice. Mice treated with clarithromycin served as positive control while mice administered with H. pylori but not treated served as negative control. One-way analysis of variance (ANOVA) was used for data analysis and results were considered significant if p 6 CFU/ml to 3.5 × 106 CFU/ml and 2.6 × 106 CFU/ml for cold water and ethanol extracts respectively. Reduction in ulcer severity (2.00 ± 0.10 to 0.080 ± 0.05), ulcer index (8.50 ± 1.10 to 4.26 ± 0.03) and gastric volume (1.32 ± 0.12 to 0.54 ± 0.13) were observed. Histology of stomach tissues of mice treated with extracts revealed clear granulation indicating tissue repair and wound healing. S. acuta extracts were observed to enhance ulcer healing in a mice model.

Objective:To determine the effect of Ancylostoma caninum(***)and trypanosome parasites on the immune response to vaccination in dogs in endemic ***:Sixteen dogs for the experiment were grouped into 4 of 4 members *** I was the uninfected control one,and GPII was infected with ***;GPIII was infected with ***/Trypanosoma congolense(***),and GPIV was infected with Trypanosoma brucei(***)/*** dogs were first vaccinated with antirabies vaccine before infecting GPII,GPIII and GPIV with *** which were done 4 weeks after *** 2-week post-vaccination,trypanosome parasites were superimposed on both GPIII and GPIV.A secondary vaccination was given to GPI,GPII,GPIII,and GPIV by Week 12 of the experiment(4 weeks post treatment).Results:The prepatent period was(3.00±1.40)days,in the conjunct infection of ***/*** was(9.00±1.10)days,in conjunct ***/*** prepatent period of *** was(14.0±2.0)days in the single *** group and(13.0±1.0)days in the conjunct trypanosome/*** the 1st week after vaccination,the antibody titer in all the vaccinated groups(GPI,GPII,GPIII,and GPIV)significantly increased(P<0.05)and peaked at the 3rd week after *** infections,there were marked significant decreases(P<0.05)in the antibody production against rabies in GPII,GPIII and *** significant decrease(P<0.05)in antibody titer was highest in the conjunct groups(GPIII and GPIV)compared to the single infection(GPII).Treatment with diminazene aceturate and mebendazole did not significantly improve antibody response in the dogs.A secondary vaccination administered at the 12th week after the primary vaccination significantly increased(P<0.05)the antibody titer with a peak at the 3rd week after the secondary ***:It was therefore concluded that ***,*** and *** induced immunosuppression in antirabies vaccination in dogs.

Foot and mouth disease is the most contagious disease of mammals and has a great potential for causing severe economic loss in susceptible cloven-hoofed animals. Routine prophylactic vaccination in Egypt from 2012 till now has been conducted with Trivalent and/or hexavalent vaccine of MERIAL, against virus strains (O manisa + O-3039 + A Iran 05 + A Saudi 95 + Asia 1 + Sat2). This study aimed to evaluate the hemato-biochemical and immunological changes associated with the use of hexavalent vaccine alone or in combination with trivalent FMD vaccine. This study was carried out on 24 cattle divided into three groups eight cattle each. Group I served as control. Group II were selected from farms vaccinated with hexavalent FMD vaccine. Group III were selected from farms vaccinated with a combination of trivalent and hexavalent FMD vaccine. The results showed that both vaccinated groups showed a significant increase in total leukocytic count. Sera from hexavalent-trivalent vaccinated cattle demonstrated a significant increase in serum cortisol concentrations. Significant increase in serum activity of aspartate aminotransferase was recorded in animals vaccinated with a combination of hexavalent and trivalent vaccine. In addition, both regimes resulted in a significant increase in serum blood urea nitrogen compared to control. Both regimes induced a significant increase in serum levels of ceruloplasmin while phagocytic activity of neutrophils and phagocytic index was enhanced only by the hexavalent vaccine. Both vaccinated groups had significantly increased serum values of gamma globulins. These results suggested that hexavalent vaccine produced higher levels of safety and protective effects against FMD in cattle as compared to those produced by a combination of hexavalent and trivalent vaccines. It is also advisable to include the hexavalent vaccine within the program of obligatory and imperative vaccination against FMD.

Objective: To explore a economical and effective method for building lung tumor model induced by diethylstibes- trol (DES). Methods: The carcinogenic effect of neonatal mice treated by DES was studied. The newborn mice were divided into DES, Urethan (U) and U + DES groups. U group was given in 500 mg/kg dose by ip at postnatal 14 day, DES group was administered by ip at the 1 d, 8 d, 15 d in the dose of 1/7, 2/7 and 4/7 LD50 of the day when they were injected respectively for DES (l), DES (M), DES (H) groups. Until 26 weeks, they were anatomized and checked the formation of tumors. The organ index, tumor incidence ratio and mean number of tumors were calculated. Results: Lung tumors were apparently induced in tested neonatal mice. The incidence of lung tumor of DES (L, M, H) groups were 16.7%, 22.4% and 43.1% respectively, the U + DES (L, M, H) groups were 70.4%, 90.9% and 70.8% respectively, and the U group was 53.1%. The mean numbers of lung tumors of U + DES (L, M) groups were higher than those of the DES (L, M) groups respectively (P < 0.05). Conclusion: The higher ratio of lung tumor incidence had been induced by DES and U joined action to neonatal mice, which may be a useful and economical method to establish a lung tumor model induced by DES.

Killing effect of the combined treatment of ultrasound and hypocrellin B on Candidaalbicans

OBJECTIVE To investigate the killing effect of the combined treatment of ultrasound and hypocrellin B,an active component isolated from a natural product Hypocrella bambuase,on Candida *** At first,Candida albicans are incubated with hypcrellin B and the uptake of hypocrellin B in Candida albicans was determined using fluorescence intensity *** then the sensitized Candida albicans were exposed to low-intensity of *** the combined treatment of ultrasound and hypocellin B,the growth of Candida albicans was evaluated using the colony counting method,and membrane integrity of Candida albicans was also analyzed by a flow cytometry with propidium iodide *** Hypocrellin B was fast absorbed by candida *** growth of candida albicans was more significantly inhibited by the combined treatment of ultrasound and hypocrellin B than the controls(P<0.05).The more marked damages to membrane integrity were found in the combined treatment than the controls(P<0.05).CONCLUSION The combined treatment of ultrasound and hypocrellin B had significant killing effect on Candida albicans,indicating sonodynamic therapy with hypocrellin B from natural product might be a potential approach for combating fungal infections.
