Introduction:Accurately filling out death certificates is essential for death ***,manually determining the underlying cause of death is often *** this study,we investigate the Wide and Deep framework as a method to improve the accuracy and reliability of inferring the underlying cause of ***:Death report data from national-level cause of death surveillance sites in Fujian Province from 2016 to 2022,involving 403,547 deaths,were *** Wide and Deep embedded with Convolutional Neural Networks(CNN)was *** performance was assessed using weighted accuracy,weighted precision,weighted recall,and weighted area under the curve(AUC).A comparison was made with XGBoost,CNN,Gated Recurrent Unit(GRU),Transformer,and GRU with ***:The Wide and Deep achieved strong performance metrics on the test set:precision of 95.75%,recall of 92.08%,F1 Score of 93.78%,and an AUC of 95.99%.The model also displayed specific F1 Scores for different cause-of-death chain lengths:97.13%for single causes,95.08%for double causes,91.24%for triple causes,and 79.50%for quadruple ***:The Wide and Deep significantly enhances the ability to determine the root causes of death,providing a valuable tool for improving causeof-death surveillance *** artificial intelligence(AI)in this field is anticipated to streamline death registration and reporting procedures,thereby boosting the precision of public health data.

Background The timing of behavior and habitat use of nocturnal animals can be influenced by the lunar cycle in nature. The prevalence of artificial light at night(ALAN) has been recognized as a source of environmental pol-lution. The interaction between ALAN and the lunar cycle on bat behavior is important for understanding anthro-pogenic effects on bats. We utilized a decade(2012–2022) of acoustic monitoring data collected in North Carolina, United States, to investigate the relationship between bat activity, lunar cycle, and light pollution. We examined whether the amount of lunar illumination affected species-specific nightly activity and whether hourly bat activity patterns varied between nights with different moon phases. We further investigated if the relationship between bat activity and the lunar cycle might be altered by light *** We found that seven bat species showed activity variation across nights in relation to the amount of moon illumination when ALAN was absent. In general, bats were less active on full moon nights compared to new moon nights. Light pollution interacted with the bat–lunar relationship in five of the seven species, masking the effect of the lunar cycle. We identified delayed bat activity patterns on nights with a full or waxing moon in seven species, and light pollution altered that pattern in four species. Overall, ALAN was associated with decreased bat activity inde-pendent of lunar cycle *** Our study demonstrated that at a broad spatial scale, ALAN negatively affected many North American temperate bat species and altered their lunar chronobiology. As light pollution is spreading to historically dark areas and habitats, ALAN might couple with other threats, such as the white-nose syndrome or climate change, to cause cascading damage in the environment that depends on ecosystem services such as pest control provided by bats. Dear Editor,As mass vaccination has been accomplished worldwide and a growing number of individuals have already been infected by SARS-CoV-2,understanding the incidence of subsequent re-infection is urgently required for comprehending the transmission dynamics of COVID-19(Bobrovitz et al.,2023).Additionally,current SARS-CoV-2 variants cause widespread escape from the neutralizing antibody(nAb)elicited by current ***,durable neutralization and memory B cell responses can be predicted by rapid CD4t T cell responses,particularly strong circulating T follicular helper(cTfh)cell responses,in individuals infected with SARS-CoV-2(Gong et al.,2020;Boppana et al.,2021;Narowski et al.,2022).Although nAb titers are known as predictors of protection against SARS-CoV-2 variants(Khoury et al.,2021),identifying more potential factors that could predict the risk of re-infection following primary infection and vaccination has become quite important in shaping prevention strategies(Chemaitelly et al.,2023).

Background Culex pipiens pallens andCulex pipiens quinquefasciatus are the dominant species ofCulex mosquitoes in China and important disease vectors. Long-term use of insecticides can cause mutations in the voltage-gated sodium channel (vgsc) gene of mosquitoes, but little is known about the current status and evolutionary origins ofvgsc gene in different geographic populations. Therefore, this study aimed to determine the current status ofvgsc genes inCx. p. pallens andCx. p. quinquefasciatus in China and to investigate the evolutionary inheritance of neighboring downstream introns of thevgsc gene to determine the impact of insecticides on long-term *** Sampling was conducted from July to September 2021 in representative habitats of 22 provincial-level administrative divisions in China. Genomic DNA was extracted from 1308 mosquitoes, the IIS6 fragment of thevgsc gene on the nerve cell membrane was amplified using polymerase chain reaction, and the sequence was used to evaluate allele frequency and knockdown resistance (kdr) frequency. MEGA 11 was used to construct neighborjoining (NJ) tree. PopART was used to build a TCS *** There were 6 alleles and 6 genotypes at the L1014 locus, which included the wild-type alleles TTA/L and CTA/L and the mutant alleles TTT/F, TTC/F, TCT/S and TCA/S. The geographic populations with akdr frequency less than 20.00% were mainly concentrated in the regions north of 38° N, and the geographic populations with akdr frequency greater than 80.00% were concentrated in the regions south of 30° *** frequency increased with decreasing latitude.
