With the increment of the number of Gaussian components, the computation cost increases in the Gaussian mixture probability hypothesis density(GM-PHD) filter. Based on the theory of Chen et al, we propose an improved pruning algorithm for the GM-PHD filter, which utilizes not only the Gaussian components’ means and covariance, but their weights as a new criterion to improve the estimate accuracy of the conventional pruning algorithm for tracking very closely proximity targets. Moreover, it solves the end-less while-loop problem without the need of a second merging step. Simulation results show that this improved algorithm is easier to implement and more robust than the formal ones.

In this paper, a flexible spacecraft attitude control scheme that guarantees vibration suppression and prescribed performance on transient-state behavior is proposed. Here, parametric uncertainty, external disturbance, unmeasured elastic vibration, actuator saturation, and even configuration misalignment are considered. To guarantee prescribed performance bounds on the transient-and steady-state control errors, a performance constrained control law is formulated with an error transformed function. An elastic modal observer is employed to estimate the unmeasured flexible modal variables, and a command filter is adopted to avoid the tedious analytical computations of time derivatives of virtual control inherent in the control design. Subsequently, a novel auxiliary system is developed to compensate the adverse effects of the actuator saturation constraints, and a compensation term is integrated into the control law to tackle the configuration misalignment. A comparative simulation study is carried out to illustrate the effectiveness and advantages of the proposed approach.

Simulation on Terminal Penetration Trajectory of Anti-ship missile under Interception Conditions

In order to realize the tactical task of anti-ship missile attacking target in the predetermined direction, and improve its penetration effect under the condition of enemy ship-to-air missile interception, a guidance law with attack angle control and maneuvering avoidance is designed. Using the terminal sliding mode theory, based on the relative motion model between missile and target, the guidance law defined a sliding surface, which includes miss distance requirement, terminal angle constraint and terminal maneuvering information. The guidance law can attack the target in the predetermined direction and realize its own trajectory maneuvering penetration. The simulation results verify the validity of the designed method.

Implementation of pulse interval modulation based on dualmapping technique for optical wireless communications

When the anti-ship missile is attacked by the enemy’s anti-aircraft missile,in order to compare the penetration effect of the anti-ship missile with snake maneuver and without end maneuver,the model of the anti-ship missile against the ship-to-air missile is established.In the background of interception and confrontation,the model considers the influence of many factors on the anti-ship missile,including interference,modeling error,sea condition,uncertainty,etc.At the same time,it also considers the forward angle constraint and dead zone constraint of the ship-to-air missile.Based on this model,the terminal penetration trajectory of anti-ship missile is simulated under different interception conditions.The simulation results show that the penetration effect of the anti-ship missile with longitudinal snake-like maneuver is the best,followed by the anti-ship missile with heading snake-like maneuver,and the penetration effect of the anti-ship missile without terminal maneuver is the worst.

Aiming at implementing the digital pulse interval modulation(DPIM) for optical wireless communications(OWC),a dual-mapping technique is presented.The scheme of DPIM train based upon the dual-mapping technique is given.Its slot error rate is derived for the avalanche photonic diode(APD) receiver model,and is compared with that of classical DPIM.Simulation results show that the dual-mapping DPIM(D-DPIM),which has a fixed slot length,only has marginally inferior error performance,but can solve waiting slots or buffer overflowing in comparison with DPIM.Hence,it is suitable for the optical wireless communication systems.

Research on monopulse forward-looking high-resolution imaging algorithm based on adaptive iteration

The unscented Kalman filter（UKF） and the cubature Kalman filter（CKF） are the popular nonlinear Gaussian sigma point filters. UKF propagates the sigma points by function evaluations using the unscented transformation（UT） and it is at first glance very different from CKF which is based on the spherical-radial cubature rule. In this paper, some relations between UKF and CKF are analyzed from the perspective of Mahalanobis distance ellipsoid. Two examples are given to demonstrate why UKF and CKF can achieve nearly the same accuracy.

In this paper,we proposed a monopulse forward-looking high-resolution imaging algorithm based on adaptive iteration for missile-borne detector.Through iteration,the proposed algorithm automatically selects the echo signal of isolated strong-scattering points from the receiving echo signal data to accurately estimate the actual optimal monopulse response curve(MRC) of the same distance range,and we applied optimal MRC to realize the azimuth self-focusing in the process of imaging.We use real-time echo data to perform error correction for obtaining the optimal MRC,and the azimuth angulation accuracy may reach the optimum at a certain distance dimension.We experimentally demonstrate the validity,reliability and high performance of the proposed algorithm.The azimuth angulation accuracy may reach up to ten times of the detection beam-width.The simulation experiments have verified the feasibility of this strategy,with the average height measurement error being 7.8%.In the out-field unmanned aerial vehicle(UAV) tests,the height measurement error is less than 25 m,and the whole response time can satisfy the requirements of a missile-borne detector.

One important mission of the strategic defense is to develop an integrated, layered ballistic missile defense system（BMDS）. Considering the problem of assigning limited defense weapons to incoming ballistic missiles, we illustrate how defense weapons, ballistic missiles, kill probability and effectiveness of defense（ED） are interrelated and how to understand this relationship for achieving the best allocation plan. Motivated by the queueing theory, in which the available resources are not sufficient to satisfy the demands placed upon them at all times, the layered deployed defense weapon is modeled as a queueing system to shoot Poisson arrived targets. Simultaneously, examples, of optimum intercepts allocation problems under different constraints are presented. The four theorems determine the allocation rules of intercepts to targets that maximize ED or minimize the cost to achieve a required ED.

Explosion of Sun

The Sun contains ~74% hydrogen by weight. The isotope hydrogen-1 (99.985% of hydrogen in nature) is a usable fuel for fusion thermonuclear reactions. This reaction runs slowly within the Sun because its temperature is low (relative to the needs of nuclear reactions). If we create higher temperature and density in a limited region of the solar interior, we may be able to produce self-supporting detonation thermonuclear reactions that spread to the full solar volume. This is analogous to the triggering mechanisms in a thermonuclear bomb. Conditions within the bomb can be optimized in a small area to initiate ignition, then spread to a larger area, allowing producing a hydrogen bomb of any power. In the case of the Sun certain targeting practices may greatly increase the chances of an artificial explosion of the Sun. This explosion would annihilate the Earth and the Solar System, as we know them today. The reader naturally asks: Why even contemplate such a horrible scenario? It is necessary because as thermonuclear and space technology spreads to even the least powerful nations in the centuries ahead, a dying dictator having thermonuclear missile weapons can proce (with some considerable mobilization of his military/industrial complex)—an artificial explosion of the Sun and take into his grave the whole of humanity. It might take tens of thousands of people to make and launch the hardware, but only a very few need know the final targeting data of what might be otherwise a weapon purely thought of (within the dictator’s defense industry) as being built for peaceful, deterrent use. Those concerned about Man’s future must know about this possibility and create some protective system—or ascertain on theoretical grounds that it is entirely impossie. Humanity has fears, justified to greater or lesser degrees, about asteroids, warming of Earthly climate, extinctions, etc. which have very small probability. But all these would leave survivors—nobody thinks that the terrible annihilation of the Solar System would leave a sin
