Endodontic diseases are a kind of chronic infectious oral disease. Common endodontic treatment concepts are based on the removal of inflamed or necrotic pulp tissue and the replacement by gutta-percha. However, it is very essential for endodontic treatment to debride the root canal system and prevent the root canal system from bacterial reinfection after root canal therapy(RCT). Recent research, encompassing bacterial etiology and advanced imaging techniques, contributes to our understanding of the root canal system’s anatomy intricacies and the technique sensitivity of RCT. Success in RCT hinges on factors like patients, infection severity, root canal anatomy, and treatment techniques. Therefore, improving disease management is a key issue to combat endodontic diseases and cure periapical lesions. The clinical difficulty assessment system of RCT is established based on patient conditions, tooth conditions, root canal configuration, and root canal needing retreatment, and emphasizes pre-treatment risk assessment for optimal outcomes. The findings suggest that the presence of risk factors may correlate with the challenge of achieving the high standard required for RCT. These insights contribute not only to improve education but also aid practitioners in treatment planning and referral decision-making within the field of endodontics.

The bidirectional relationship between periodontitis and type 2 diabetes mellitus has been ***,the underlying molecular mechanisms remain *** retinopathy(DR)is an important complication of diabetes,but there are few studies on the relationship between DR and periodontitis,especially on the intrinsic inflammatory pathway *** article reviews the latest clinical data on how diabetes promotes susceptibility to periodontitis from the epidemiological and molecular perspectives,with a special focus on the key roles of systemic inflammation and endothelial dysfunction in the interplay between DR and *** of the intertwined pathogenesis of DR and periodontitis can better guide the development of comprehensive management strategies for glycemic control and periodontal health,with the aim of mitigating the progression of DR and enhancing overall well-being.

Preparing Health Professionals to Provide Care to Individuals with Disabilities

Aim To review the perceptions of dental/medical educators and their students in the United States on the adequacy of didactic and clinical preparation to provide service for individuals with disabilities. Methodology An e-mailed questionnaire with follow-up was sent to 198 deans of dental/medical schools, 1,628 directors of residency programs in nine medical/dental residency programs, 427 medical students in 12 medical schools, and 368 health related organizations, facilities and programs. Results More than half （58%） of the responding deans of medical schools and 50% of the deans of dental schools reported that a curriculum for patients with disabilities was not a high priority at their school. A majority （61%） of deans of medical schools, and 47% of the deans of dental schools, reported that their graduates were competent to treat patients with disabilities. However, majorities of dental/ medical school seniors and graduates expressed inadequate competency in the care of these patients. A majority of the directors of medical/dental residencies indicated a need for additional training for their residents. Conclusion There is need for increased didactic and clinical preparation of dental/medical school graduates in the care of individuals with special health needs. The interest expressed by health profession educators in an effort to develop appropriate curriculum modules provides an opportunity to prepare new graduates for the care of an increasing population of individuals with disabilities.

Dielectric and Ferroelectric Properties of BaTiO_3 Nanofibers Prepared via Electrospinning

BaTiO3 nanofibers of about 400 nm in diameter were synthesized via *** evolution of the morphology and phase composition of the BaTiO3 nanofibers was studied by scanning electron microscopy and X-ray diffraction within the annealing temperature of 750-1050 ℃.Higher annealing temperature led to rougher surface and better crystallization of the BaTiO3 *** 1050 ℃,the BaTiO3 nanofibers maintained its large aspect ratios and could still be regarded as individual *** dielectric permittivities of the BaTiO3 nanofibers（εr 820） were calculated with the MG equation by considering the porous bulk specimens as composites of BaTiO3 nanofibers and *** ferroelectric properties of the BaTiO3nanofibers were measured by using a ferroelectric analyzer coupled with an atomic force microscope.P-E loop measured for the BaTiO3 nanofiber exhibits small hysteresis.

Managing Editor:Peng Lyu Macrofocal multiple myeloma(MFMM)is a distinct entity within multiple myeloma(MM)characterized by the presence of multiple lytic bone lesions,with clonal plasma cells in the bone marrow accounting for<10%.1,2 The revised 2022 Chinese guidelines for the diagnosis and treatment of MM state:in patients with<10%clonal plasma cells in multi-site bone marrow aspirates,attention should be given to MFMM,characterized by single or multiple bone destructive lesions,often accompanied by involvement of surrounding soft tissues or lymph nodes.3 Research is limited regarding the long-term use of adoptive immunotherapy for the treatment of MFMM;as such,we report herein the case of an elderly patient diagnosed with MFMM who experienced severe chemotherapy side effects and subsequently underwent adoptive ***,the patient benefited from 14 years of treatment[Figure 1A].

Osteogenesis imperfecta(OI)is mainly characterized by bone fragility and Ehlers-Danlos syndrome(EDS)by connective tissue *** in COL1A1 or COL1A2 can lead to both ***/EDS overlap syndrome is mostly caused by helical mutations near the amino-proteinase cleavage site of type Ⅰ *** this study,we identified a Thai patient having OI type Ⅲ,EDS,brachydactyly,and dentinogenesis *** dentition showed delayed eruption,early exfoliation,and severe *** the first time,ultrastructural analysis of the tooth affected with OI/EDS showed that the tooth had enamel inversion,bonelike dentin,loss of dentinal tubules,and reduction in hardness and elasticity,suggesting severe developmental *** severe dental defects have never been reported in OI or *** sequencing identified a novel de novo heterozygous glycine substitution,c.3296G>A,***1099Glu,in exon 49 of *** patients with mutations in the exon 49 of COL1A2 were previously reported to have OI with brachydactyly and intracranial ***,two of these three patients did not show hyperextensible joints and hypermobile skin,while our patient at the age of 5 years had not developed intracranial ***,we demonstrate that the novel glycine substitution in the carboxyl region of alpha2(Ⅰ)collagen triple helix leads to OI/EDS with brachydactyly and severe tooth defects,expanding the genotypic and phenotypic spectra of OI/EDS overlap syndrome.
