Argumentative Conversational Agents for Online Discussions

Artificial Intelligence is revolutionising our communication practices and the ways in which we interact with each other. This revolution does not only impact how we communicate, but it affects the nature of the partners with whom we communicate. Online discussion platforms now allow humans to communicate with artificial agents in the form of socialbots. Such agents have the potential to moderate online discussions and even manipulate and alter public opinions. In this paper, we propose to study this phenomenon using a constructed large-scale agent platform. At the heart of the platform lies an artificial agent that can moderate online discussions using argumentative messages. We investigate the influence of the agent on the evolution of an online debate involving human participants. The agent will dynamically react to their messages by moderating, supporting, or attacking their stances. We conducted two experiments to evaluate the platform while looking at the effects of the conversational agent. The first experiment is a large-scale discussion with 1076 citizens from Afghanistan discussing urban policy-making in the city of Kabul. The goal of the experiment was to increase the citizen involvement in implementing Sustainable Development Goals. The second experiment is a small-scale debate between a group of 16 students about globalisation and taxation in Myanmar. In the first experiment, we found that the agent improved the responsiveness of the participants and increased the number of identified ideas and issues. In the second experiment, we found that the agent polarised the debate by reinforcing the initial stances of the participant.

By criticizing the secularization paradigms and the market paradigms of religion,this article tries to propose a theory of religious membership(TRM).Based on TRM,potential religious suicide bombers and other religious extremists can be identified. The secularization paradigms of religion focus on the functional differentiation,change and even decline of the religious institution in the context of modernity(Wilson,1982;Ester,1993);while the market paradigms of religion involve the competition,mobilization and marketing in the market of pluralistic religions(Warner,1993;Stark and Finke,2000).These two contradictory but dominant paradigms share an absence of "social actor" or specifically "religious actor".Based on field study on a group of Protestants in Beijing,I intend to raise a theory of religious membership of the Chinese people in terms of social actor.

Analysis of Sheep Lymphocyte Chromosomal Aberrations after Exposition to Chlortetracycline

Tetracyclines are broad spectrum antibiotics and one type of various their compounds—chlortetracycline has been successfully used for our cytogenetic studies. We have selected for these studies the chromosomal assay because it is wellknown cytogenetic biomarker, which has been used to assess DNA damage at the chromosomal level. We analyzed the chromosomal aberrations and mitotic index in peripheral lymphocytes of sheep exposed by chlortetracycline chloride in pure tap water. To the food of the experimental group of animals (à n = 6) were added also 0.35 gof preparation Aureovit12 C80 plv. a. u. v. per kg b. w. and day (i.e. 168 mg of chlortetracycline hydrochloride/kg b. w.) daily in food. The frequencies of aberrant cells (ABC) in the experimental and control groups of sheep were stated to differ significantly (P = 0.001). In experimental group, chromatid breaks were the dominant type of chromosomal aberrations. No statistical differences in mitotic index values were found in the both groups (P > 0.05). Increased frequencies of chromosome aberrations in peripheral lymphocytes of sheep exposed by chlortetracycline in food, suggested a potential hazard which needs the attention from the viewpoint of human and animal health. This knowledge is useful for all, for the human and veterinary medicine, as well as for the aquaculture. Many of these chlortetracycline substances for their environmental persistence and chemical unstability are present in the environment for various periods, and as a result, they are responsible for several effects on human and animal health through food chain.

In his old age, Fei Xiaotong＇s reflections on Chinese sociological method opened up new room for transcending the existing traditions of sociology. His spiritual legacy is well worth further explanation. According to Fei, traditional Chinese culture and wisdom embodies a wealth of concepts, such as ＂harmony between nature and man,＂＂mind for others＂ and so on, all of which need further definition and should he used as fulcrums for the transcending of sociological traditions.

The role of civil society organisations (CSOs) in healthcare delivery system: A case study of child immunisation in Kabarole district, Uganda

Background: The importance of civil society organisations in health care delivery systems cannot be under-rated in sub-SaharanAfricaand other developing nations worldwide. Civil society organisations play a central role in service delivery and development of democracy. However, little is known about the roles and achievements of Civil Society Organisations (CSOs) in healthcare. The study aimed at exploring the role of civil society organisations in health care delivery system particularly in children immunization. Methods: A questionnaire survey involving 282 households was conducted. Data were analysed using descriptive statistics followed by multivariable logistic regression. Results: Ninety seven percent (97%) confirmed that CSOs/NGOs healthcare facilities played a major role in healthcare service delivery. 84% travelled long distances to access the healthcare services including child immunisation services. Travelling long distances (>2 km) to access for health care services including immunization compared to short distance (<1 km) (OR = 0.4, P = 0.0001), possessing a food stores (enguli) compared to not having a food store (enguli) (OR = 2.3, P = 0.002), having separate animal houses compared to not having livestock houses (OR = 0.09, P = 0.0001), and owning a bicycle compared to not having a bicycle (OR = 2.2, P = 0.005) are important determinants for the number of clients at CSO health centers. Further, possessing and using a cellphone compared to no cellphone (OR = 3.7, P = 0.001), Possessing and watching a television compared to not having a television (OR = 2.4, P = 0.002), educated compared to not acquiring any formal education (OR = 0.084, P = 0.0001), and female compared to male respondent (OR = 0.49, P = 0.0045) are other most important factors likely to determine the numbers of clients at the CSO healthcare. Conclusion: Geographies of CSO and community socioeconomics strongly determine the operations and the roles played by the CSO healthcare services

An Adaptive Hate Speech Detection Approach Using Neutrosophic Neural Networks for social Media Forensics

Detecting hate speech automatically in social media forensics has emerged as a highly challenging task due tothe complex nature of language used in such platforms. Currently, several methods exist for classifying hatespeech, but they still suffer from ambiguity when differentiating between hateful and offensive content and theyalso lack accuracy. The work suggested in this paper uses a combination of the Whale Optimization Algorithm(WOA) and Particle Swarm Optimization (PSO) to adjust the weights of two Multi-Layer Perceptron (MLPs)for neutrosophic sets classification. During the training process of the MLP, the WOA is employed to exploreand determine the optimal set of weights. The PSO algorithm adjusts the weights to optimize the performanceof the MLP as fine-tuning. Additionally, in this approach, two separate MLP models are employed. One MLPis dedicated to predicting degrees of truth membership, while the other MLP focuses on predicting degrees offalse membership. The difference between these memberships quantifies uncertainty, indicating the degree ofindeterminacy in predictions. The experimental results indicate the superior performance of our model comparedto previous work when evaluated on the Davidson dataset.

Community Perceptions of New Residents in Penghu County, Taiwan

In order to get close to and support the ＂new residents＂ of Penghu County, Taiwan （known as female foreign spouses, who are from China's Mainland and Southeast Asia）, this study was conducted to set up a new service framework in the local community by the Penghu County Service Center for new residents. This study was implemented between May and July of 2011 to understand the local community perception of new residents living in five rural areas, and one city of Penghu, and to understand the community perceptions of these new residents. This includes： the new residents＇ feelings about the community, the new residents＇ feelings about interaction with the locals, multicultural acceptance of the community, and the new residents＇ feelings about participation in local activities. According to the parameters of this research, quantitative research methodology was adopted. After questionnaire studies and data analysis, the key findings are thus： New residents living areas have significant impact on the community perceptions of them, especially in two areas： the new resident＇s feeling relating to the community environment and their perception of interaction with the locals.

System Assimilation of E-Skills in Tertiary Institutions to Empower Graduates in South Africa

The value of system assimilation is to improve working relationships between tutors and learners while increasing workflow efficiency among tertiary institutions with low operational costs. E-skills could be described as electronic education development, to assist ICT professionals to reach their future career goals and aim to help users boost their ICT skills. In a society that is expanding, it is also a crucial issue to take into account. Researchers have turned their attention to this topic because of its significance and contribution to the empowerment of graduates in digital education. Many scholars have proposed many methods for integrating e-skills into society with impressive results, but the rising rate of graduate unemployment in South Africa is gradually becoming a big worry in our society. A model based on Activity Theory (AT) and e-skills will be developed in our tertiary institution to equip graduates with skills that will increase their employability and provide more individualized work opportunities as part of this study’s effort to solve this issue. With the use of the Statistical Package for the social Sciences (SPSS) and Cronbach’s Alpha for validity and reliability testing, the study will create an experimental performance to assess the approach taken to measure e-skills in tertiary institutions to empower graduates in South Africa. The study established that system development and e-skilled models for tertiary institutions are growing gradually, especially in South African institutions, that empower graduates with profitable employability with experiences to improve work operation in the industries. In conclusion, system development and e-skills are very demanding but important to empower graduate employability to determine competency in the professional workforce.
