This article investigates how the COVID-19 pandemic and related public health measures affected the consumption of food away from home(FAFH)among Chinese *** obtained access to the complete sales records from a major restaurant chain in China,for 111 sites located in 12 cities,covering over 5.6 million high-frequency dining transactions made between 1 January 2019 and 31 December *** applying a high-dimensional fixed-effects model,we found that,on average,consumers spent more and ordered more calories(as well as carbohydrates,protein,fat,and sodium)after the COVID-19 outbreak than in *** results do not support the hypothesis that COVID-19 led to healthier eating behaviors during and after the *** results underline the importance of nutrition education and awareness programs to mitigate unhealthy eating habits generated by the pandemic and of the continued role of FAFH after the pandemic.

Many practical systems in physical and technical sciences have impulsive dynamical behaviors during the evolution process which can be modeled by impulsive differential equations. In this paper, we prove the approximate controllability of control systems governed by a class of impulsive neutral stochastic functional differential system with state-dependent delay in Hilbert spaces. Sufficient conditions for approximate controllability of the control systems are established under the natural assumption that the corresponding linear system is approximately controllable. The results are obtained by using semigroup theory, stochastic analysis techniques, fixed point approach and abstract phase space axioms. An example is provided to illustrate the application of the obtained results.

Impact of climate-smart agricultural technology on multidimensional poverty in rural Ethiopia

A large body of empirical literature showed that the adoption of agricultural technologies reduces poverty. However, dominants of those studies so far used one-dimensional income or expenditure-based measures of poverty which may not reflect other types of deprivations. Therefore, the major objective of this study is to examine the impact of adopting climate-smart agricultural technology, which refers to a joint application of row planting methods and the use of chemical fertilizers, on the multidimensional poverty status of rural households in Ethiopia. To estimate the impact of the stated technologies, this study employs propensity score matching and endogenous switching regression methods. To measure the multidimensional poverty index, the study also uses the Alkire and Foster counting approach. Using the Ethiopian socioeconomic Survey(ESS), collected in 2015-Wave 3, the results of the study show that the adoption of these technologies reduces deprivation score and one of its component, the standard of living part. Regionally, a high reduction in deprivation is observed in Amhara and Oromiya regions. The results also show that the impact is significantly higher in severely deprived households. It is also observed that the reduction in multidimensional poverty due to the technology is through an increase in income/consumption via improvement in production gain. The impact channels more through the non-food expenditure pathway. Finally, this study also sheds light on the effects that technology adoption has on multidimensional poverty reduction.

An Giang province in the Mekong Delta is the most vulnerable province the impact of flooding and climate variability. Thousand of households are at risk due to severe annual floods. This study applied the LVI （livelihood vulnerability index） to estimate flood vulnerability of Phu Huu and Ta Danh villages in An Giang province. Data on socio-demographics, livelihoods, health, social networks, physical, financial and natural resources, natural disasters and climate variability were collected from a survey of 120 households in each village. From these data the LVI of each village was calculated. Results show that the overall LV1 of Phu Huu village, located in the early flooded zone, is higher than that of Ta Danh village, located in the late flooded zone. The analysis also indicated that this practical method can be applied for other purposes such as to monitor vulnerability, evaluate development programs or policy effectiveness by incorporating with scenario comparison.

Modeling the effects of constructed wetland on nonpoint source pollution control and reservoir water quality improvement

This article describes the integrated modeling approach for planning the size and the operation of constructed wetlands for maximizing retention of nonpoint source pollutant loads and reservoir water-quality improvement at a catchment scale. The experimental field-scale wetland systems （four sets, 0.88 ha each） have been in operation since 2002, where water depth was maintained at 30-50 cm and hydraulic loading rate was at 6.3-18.8 cm/day. The wetland system was found to be adequate for treating polluted stream water with stable removal efficiency even during the winter. The integrated modeling system （modified-BASINS） was applied to the Seokmoon estuarine reservoir watershed and calibrated with monitoring data from constructed wetland, stream, and reservoir. The calibrated integrated modeling system estimated that constructing wetlands on 0.5% （about 114 ha） of the watershed area at the mouth of reservoir could reduce 11.61% and 13.49% of total external nitrogen and phosphorus loads, respectively. It also might improve the nitrogen and phosphorus concentration of the reservoir by 9.69% and 16.48%, respectively. The study suggested that about 0.1%-1.0% of the watershed area should be allocated for constructed wetland to meet specified water-quality standards for the estuarine reservoir at the polder area where land use planning is relatively less complicated.

This study evaluated the reduction effect of non-point source pollution by applying best management practices （BMPs） to a 1.21 km^2 small agricultural watershed using a SWAT （Soil and Water Assessment Tool） model. Two meter QuickBird land use data were prepared for the watershed. The SWAT was calibrated and validated using dally streamflow and monthly water quality （total phosphorus （TP）, total nitrogen （TN）, and suspended solids （SS）） records from 1999 to 2000 and from 2001 to 2002. The average Nash and Sutcliffe model efficiency was 0.63 for the streamflow and the coefficients of determination were 0.88, 0.72, and 0.68 for SS, TN, and TP, respectively. Four BMP scenarios viz. the application of vegetation filter strip and riparian buffer system, the regulation of Universal Soil Loss Equation P factor, and the fertilizing control amount for crops were applied and analyzed.

Allometric equations are important for quantifying biomass and carbon storage in terrestrial forest ***,equations for dry deciduous woodland ecosystems,an important carbon sink in the lowland areas of Ethiopia have not as yet been *** study attempts to develop and evaluate species-specific allometric equations for predicting aboveground biomass(AGB)of dominant woody species based on data from destructive sampling for Combretum collinum,Combretum molle,Combretum harotomannianum,Terminalia laxiflora and *** at breast height ranged from 5 to 30 *** empirical equations were developed using DBH(Eq.1)and height(Eq.2).Equation 2 gave better AGB estimations than *** inclusion of both DBH and H were the best estimate biometric variables for ***,the equations were evaluated and compared with common generic allometric *** result showed that our allometric equations are appropriate for estimating *** development and application of empirical species-specific allometric equations is crucial to improve biomass and carbon stock estimation for dry woodland ecosystems.

Does Property Right Transformation Improve Township and Village Enterprises Performance?

To date, few observations have been made about the performance improvement that resulted from the property right transformation of the collective-owned township and village enterprises （TVE） in the middle of 1990s. Using data collected from a questionnaire survey on the privatized TVE and their employees, the present paper provides some empirical evidence about this topic, and the analysis＇ suggests that property right transformation has had a positive impact on sample enterprises ＇performance, including business improvement, employment expansion, incremental investment and contributions to government revenues＇. The present study concludes that, from a transient viewpoint, the property right transformation has not distorted local governments＇ intentions to establish TVE in earlier years.

Migrant workers have become a major element of the labor force in Chinese cities, making important contributions to the economy while forming a socially disadvantaged group. Existing research on the relationship between the level of nutrition and health and income in China mainly focuses on farmers living in rural areas. Based on a Mincer equation and using a survey in Beijing, this paper examines the relationship between migrant workers＂ nutrition and health levels and their monthly incomes. We find that the nutrition intake and the body mass index have positive effects on income while duration of illness and daily working hours have negative effects. These conclusions imply that the Chinese Government should put more emphasis on improving migrant workers＇ well-being, including offering educational programs on nutrition and health, and enhancing medical insurance and the old-age insurance system.

Improving the wheat yield of countries along the Belt and Road(BR)plays a core role in ensuring global food ***,little attention has been paid to the wheat yield variation and the determinants across these *** paper analyzes wheat yield convergence in countries along the BR using the club-convergence *** empirical results show that instead of one convergence for all countries along the BR,the wheat yields are converging into three ***,we investigate the impact of climate change and agricultural production technology on wheat yield convergence,and find that countries along the BR with a one degree Celsius increase in temperature are 36.5%(32.7%)more likely to converge to the high-level yield *** may be related to the lower frequency of frost and higher photosynthetic capacity of *** also find that a one kilogram increase in fertilizer application per hectare will result in a 0.4%(0.5%)higher probability of countries along the BR converging to the high-level yield *** along the BR should pay more attention to coordinating production technologies and climate change to ensure food security.
