Effect of colouring green stage zirconia on the adhesion of veneering ceramics with different thermal expansion coefficients

This study evaluated the adhesion of zirconia core ceramics with their corresponding veneering ceramics, having different thermal expansion coefficients （TECs）, when zirconia ceramics were coloured at green stage. Zirconia blocks （N=240; 6 mm x 7 mm x 7 mm） were manufactured from two materials namely, ICE Zirconia （Group 1） and Prettau Zirconia （Group 2）. In their green stage, they were randomly divided into two groups. Half of the specimens were coloured with colouring liquid （shade A2）, Three different veneering ceramics with different TEC （ICE Ceramic, GC Initial Zr and IPS *** Ceram） were fired on both coloured and non-coloured zirconia cores. Specimens of high noble alloys （Esteticor Plus） veneered with ceramic （VM 13）（n= 16） acted as the control group. Core-veneer interface of the specimens were subjected to shear force in the Universal Testing Machine （0.5 mm-min-1）. Neither the zirconia core material （P=0.318） nor colouring （P=0.188） significantly affected the results （three-way analysis of variance, Tukey＇s test）. But the results were significantly affected by the veneering ceramic （P=0.000）. Control group exhibited significantly higher mean bond strength values （45.7__.8） MPa than all other tested groups （（27.1__.4.1）-（39.7__.4.7） and （27.4__.5.6）-（35.9___4.7） MPa with and without colouring, respectively）（P^0.001）. While in zirconia-veneer test groups, predominantly mixed type of failures were observed with the veneering ceramic covering ~ 1/3 of the substrate surface, in the metal-ceramic group, veneering ceramic was left adhered 1/3 of the metal surface. Colouring zirconia did not impair adhesion of veneering ceramic, but veneering ceramic had a significant influence on the core-veneer adhesion. Metal-ceramic adhesion was more reliable than all zirconia-veneer ceramics tested.

Improvement of the bonding strength and durability between the dentin surface and the composite resin is a challenging job in dentistry. In this paper, a radio-frequency atmosphericpressure glow discharge(RF-APGD) plasma jet is employed for the treatment of the acid-etched dentin surfaces used for the composite restoration. The properties of the plasma treated dentin surfaces and the resin–dentin interfaces are analyzed using the x-ray photoemission spectroscopy, contact angle goniometer, scanning electron microscope and microtensile *** experimental results show that, due to the abundant chemically reactive species existing in the RF-APGD plasma jet under a stable and low energy input operating mode, the contact angle of the plasma-treated dentin surfaces decreases to a stable level with the increase of the atomic percentage of oxygen in the specimens; the formation of the long resin tags in the scattered clusters and the hybrid layers at the resin–dentin interfaces significantly improve the bonding strength and durability. These results indicate that the RF-APGD plasma jet is an effective tool for modifying the chemical properties of the dentin surfaces, and for improving the immediate bonding strength and the durability of the resin-dentin bonding in dentistry.

To develop a new kind of denture adhesive （DA）, then to evaluate its mechanical and chemical properties, polyethylene oxide, methyl cellulose, sodium alginate, and cellulose ether, were viewed as four main factors, which would affect bonding load of DA, while two levels of each component were differentiated. Following table L12（211）, twelve different formulae were designed by orthogonal design and bonding load values were recorded. According to bonding load of each formula, the optimized formula was selected out as this new adhesive material, Comfort-DA II. The changing of bonding load values of Comfort-DA II marinating in artificial saliva were measured, and an existing product, Protefix and Comfort-DA, were used as controls. Following initial load readings, samples and controls were measured from 1- to 12- hour intervals, respectively. Comfort-DA II was diluted at 1.0%, 2.0%, 3.3%, 5.0%, and 10.0% concentrations, and pH values were measured at 1-, 2-, 3-, 4-, 5-, 6-, and 8-hour intervals. Comfort-DA II presented as a pale-yellow paste. Group 6 gained the highest bonding load value of [193.8 （4.2）] N. The mean bonding load of Comfort-DA II was statistically different to Comfort-DA （p = 0.004） and Protefix （p = 0.006）. Comfort-DA II exhibited a progressive increase in pH value over time and was slightly alkaline. Comfort-DA II showed significantly elevated mechanical and chemical properties, comparing to Comfort-DA. The results also indicate that orthogonal design may be an efficacious way to develop new dental materials.

An inorganic nanomaterials combination of Sm, Ag, and TiO2 was synthesized using supercritical fluid drying （SCFD） combined with solgel techniques. The structure, photocatalysis and bacteriostatic activity of the materials were characterized by X-ray diffraction （XRD）, transmission electron microscopy （TEM）, X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy （XRPS）, photocatalytic performance, and antibacterial activity experiments. The XRD results showed that the average particle diameter of Sm/Ag/TiO2 was 14.62 nm and Ag and Sm ions were dispersed on the surface of TiO2 in a highly dispersed, amorphous form. The TEM image showed that the size of the particle was 12 nm using the scherer formula. The XPS result showed that the element Sm was doped and Ag was loaded inorganic nanomaterials successfully. Sm/Ag/TiO2 exhibited optimal photocatalytic properties at 600 oC, the photocatalytic optimal proportion of Sm/Ag/TiO2 was 2：2：100. When the molar ratio was 2：2：100, the bacteriostatic circle diameter was 16 mm for Staphylococcus aureus, the minimum bacteriostatic concentration was 200μg/mL for white beads coccus, and the minimum bactericidal concentration was 2×10^4μg/mL for white beads coccus. The SEM results showed that the antibacterial material attached to the candida albicans cell surface, cells appeared fold deformation. Therefore the inorganic nanomaterials Sm/Ag/TiO2 had high temperature resistance, good photocatalytic and antibacterial characteristics in visible light.

Electrochemical behavior of dental implant system before and after clinical use(in vivo and in vitro) was researched by using abutment and titanium *** simulate an oral environment,the samples of clinically used and non-used implant systems as a working electrode were exposed to artificial saliva at(36.5±1) ℃.Electrochemical tests were carried out using a *** electrochemical test,the corrosion morphology of each sample was investigated by FE-SEM and *** corrosion potential and pitting potential of clinically used implant system are lower than those of non-used implant system,and clinically used implant system exhibits a lower range of passivation,indicating a less degree of inherent resistance against chloride *** polarization resistance decreases in the case of clinically used implant system,whereas,Rp for clinically non-used implant system increases compared with clinically used implant system.

Background The ability of patients to discriminate thickness can change with time after the insertion of new complete dentures, and this adaptation may differ according to the experiences of the patients If so, an education program to reinforce the oral functions may be needed This study was to evaluate patients' ability to discriminate thickness by comparing experienced and non-experienced denture wearers after the insertion of new complete dentures Methods Forty edentulous patients with a skeletal Class Ⅰ jaw relationship without any temporomandibular disturbances were in the study After insertion of new complete dentures, all patients were tested for discrimination threshold for interocclusal thickness The thickness perception test was repeated on days 1, 7, and 30 after the insertion of new dentures The discriminatory ability was assessed with steel and aluminium foils placed between the upper and lower central incisor teeth The records included the duration of wearing dentures The data were subjected to statistical analysis of two-way ANOVA, multiple comparison test and Student's t test Results Discrimination of tactile ability significantly increased over 30 days in experienced denture wearers as compared with non-experienced patients ( P <0 001) The difference in thickness perception threshold was statistically significant between the two groups ( P <0 001) Conclusion Adaptation and denture experience can affect thickness discrimination of complete denture wearers

Purpose:Dental and orofacial trauma among the adult population constitutes a major public health *** impact is not just physical but also *** analyse the impacts of dental and orofacial trauma on oral health-related quality of life(OHRQoL)in adults and determine whether the 2 variables are closely ***:This is a systematic *** terms“dental trauma”,“orofacial trauma”,“oral health”,“oral health related impact life”,“OHRQoL”,“positive and negative affect scale”,“quality of life”,“facial injuries”,“adults”,and“young adults”were researched in the databases of PubMed,ScienceDirect,Scopus and Google Scholar for associated studies up to December 30,2022.A comprehensive search was designed and the articles were independently screened for eligibility by 2 *** included studies’author,year of publication,the country where the study was conducted,population demographics(number and age),an instrument used for assessing OHRQoL and the relevant result were recorded and *** quality of the evidence was assessed using Joanna Briggs Institute checklist for observational ***:Out of 482 unique records,3 articles were included for data *** studies were *** studies did not mention confounding *** scales were used for dental and orofacial trauma and *** has a directly proportional relationship with orofacial *** with orofacial trauma have a significant impact on this value with a prevalence of 88.4%.Conclusion:The highest impact on OHRQoL was seen immediately after the diagnosis of an orofacial *** impact increases with the severity of the ***,to promote overall dental and general health,health education initiatives should include information on the causes,prevention,and requirement for prompt responses by the populace in seeking dental intervention.
