From a single network to a network of networks

Network science has atracted much atention in recent years due to its interdisciplinary applications. We witnessed the revolution of network science in 1998 and 1999 started with small-world and scale-free networks having now thousands of high-proile publications, and it seems that since 2010 studies of‘network of networks’(NON), sometimes called multilayer networks or multiplex, have atracted more and more atention. he analytic framework for NON yields a novel percolation law for n interdependent networks that shows that percolation theory of single networks studied extensively in physics and mathematics in the last 50 years is a speciic limit of the rich and very diferent general case of n coupled networks. Since then, properties and dynamics of interdependent and interconnected networks have been studied extensively, and scientists are inding many interesting results and discovering many surprising phenomena. Because most natural and engineered systems are composed of multiple subsystems and layers of connectivity, it is important to consider these features in order to improve our understanding of such complex systems. Now the study of NON has become one of the important directions in network *** this paper, we review recent studies on the new emerging area—NON. Due to the fast growth of this ield, there are many deinitions of diferent types of NON, such as interdependent networks,interconnected networks, multilayered networks, multiplex networks and many others. here exist many datasets that can be represented as NON, such as network of diferent transportation networks including light networks, railway networks and road networks, network of ecological networks including species interacting networks and food webs, network of biological networks including gene regulation network,metabolic network and protein–protein interacting network, network of social networks and so on. Discrete state space method and modal extension method based impact sound synthesis model

The efficient and accurate synthesis of physical parameter-controllable impact sounds is essential for sound source identification. In this study, an impact sound synthesis model of a cylinder is proposed based on discrete state space（DSS） method and modal extension method（MEM）. This model is comprised of the whole three processes of the physical interaction, i.e., the Hertz contact process, the transient structural response process, and the sound radiation process. Firstly,the modal expanded DSS equations of the contact system are constructed and the transient structural response of the cylinder is obtained. Then the impact sound of the cylinder is acquired using improved discrete Raleigh integral. Finally, the proposed model is verified by comparing with existing models. The results show that the proposed impact sound synthesis model is more accurate and efficient than the existing methods and easy to be extended to the impact sound synthesis of other structures.

Molecular dynamics study of temperature-dependent ripples in monolayer and bilayer graphene on 6H-SiC surfaces

Using classical molecular dynamics and a simulated annealing technique, we show that microscopic corrugations occur in monolayer and bilayer graphene on 6H-SiC substrates. From an analysis of the atomic configurations, two types of microscopic corrugations are identified, namely periodic ripples at room temperature and random ripples at high temperature. Two different kinds of ripple morphologies, each with a periodic structure, occur in the monolayer graphene due to the existence of a coincidence lattice between graphene and the SiC terminated surface （Si- or C-terminated surface）. The effect of temperature on microscopic ripple morphology is shown through analysing the roughness of the graphene. A temperature-dependent multiple bonding conjugation is also shown by the broad distribution of the carbon-carbon bond length and the bond angle in the rippled graphene on the SiC surface. These results provide atomic-level information about the rippled graphene layers or~ the two polar faces of the 6H-SiC substrate, which is useful not only for a better understanding of the stability and structural properties of graphene, but also for the study of the electronic properties of graphene-based devices.

The A–D–A′–D–A-type non-fused ring electron acceptors(NFREAs),consisting of electron-donating unit(D)as the bridge to link electron-accepting units(A and A′),have emerged as promising electron acceptors for organic solar cells(OSCs)and organic photodetectors(OPDs).As the units are linked by the carbon–carbon single bonds,these electron acceptors generally possess feasible synthesis and tunable optoelectronic ***,the recent progress of A–D–A′–D–A-type NFREAs is reviewed,including molecular design,device performance,structure–property relationships,and their applications in OSCs and ***,we discuss the challenges and propose the perspectives for the further development of A–D–A′–D–A-type NFREAs.

Degradation analysis of A^2/O combined with AgNO3 + K2FeO4 on coking wastewater

In this work, a coking wastewater was selected and a biochemical Az/O treatment device for fractional degradation was designed and employed. After each stage of the treatment, the products were analyzed through gas chromatography-mass spectroscopy （GC-MS） to determine their composition. Finally, AgNO3 ＋ K2FeO4 was used as an advanced deep catalytic oxidation treatment. It was concluded from the analysis that cyclic organics could be degraded and the chemical oxygen demand （COD） was controlled within 50 mg. L-1, in line with the target value, Meanwhile, the spectra obtained from the GC-MS were in accordance with the conclusions reached based on the COD. The research results showed that all hard-degradable organics in coking wastewater could be eliminated through the A2/O bio-membrane treatment and the advanced treatment of making use of K2FeO4 as an oxidant and Ag＋ as a catalyst, the catalytic efficiency with Ag＋ as a catalyst of K2FeO4 was very high. Ag＋ could evidently improve the oxidation capacity of K2FeO4 to wastewater in its short stability time, and this is an important innovation.

Transparent Computing: Development and Current Status

Current terminal devices, such as Personal computers(PCs), diskless workstation, mobile terminals and embedded Internet of things(IoT) devices, are facing several challenges, including limited computing capabilities and storage resources, complex maintenance and management of the software and data, as well as secure service provisioning. Facing these challenges, Cloud computing(CC) and Edge computing(EC) encourage the terminal devices to shift compute-intensive works to the cloud servers or edge nodes. Different from CC and EC, Transparent computing(TC) is a novel user-centric computing paradigm in which the hardware and software are separated in different places. Specificaly, all the software, including Operating systems(OSes), applications programs and management tools, are deposited on the servers and transmitted on demand to terminal devices in a transparent way, while the computation is performed on terminals. In this article, we give a broad survey on transparent computing about the development and current status and compare the differences with CC and EC. To realize the provisioning of the cross-platform service, TC shields hardware differences of heterogeneous devices and builds standardized hardware and software interfaces. From the perspective of security, TC entails high-level security mechanisms and the Meta OS can detect malware and OS-level attacks. Specifically, we first review the development courses of network computing paradigms and the motivation of TC. Then, we present a comparison of several emerging computing paradigms and TC from three perspectives, i.e., virtualization, location for computing, and location for storage. We also show the basic architecture of TC, development process, current status, and key enabling technologies of TC for PCs and lightweight terminals. Lastly, several new challenges and future research directions are indicated to inspire continuous investigations. We believe that this survey can help readers to obtain complete

Multi-scale Runge-Kutta_Galerkin method for solving one-dimensional Kd V and Burgers equations

In this paper, the multi-scale Runge-Kutta_Galerkin method is developed for solving the evolution equations, with the spatial variables of the equations being discretized by the multi-scale Galerkin method based on the multi-scale orthogonal bases in Ho （a, b） and then the classical fourth order explicit Runge-Kutta method being applied to solve the resulting initial problem of the ordinary differential equations for the coefficients of the approximate solution. The proposed numerical scheme is validated by applications to the Burgers equation （nonlinear convection-diffusion problem）, the KdV equation （single solitary and 2-solitary wave problems） and the KdV-Burgers equation, where analytical solutions are available for estimating the errors. Numerical results show that using the algorithm we can solve these equations stably without the need for extra stabilization processes and obtain accurate solutions that agree very well with the corresponding exact solutions in all cases.
