234Th was utilized as a tracer of particulate organic carbon （POC） export in the northwestern South China Sea （SCS） on the basis of the data collected at four stations during a spring cruise. Depth profiles of dissolved and particulate 234Th activities were measured in the upper 60m, showing a significant deficit relative to 23Su over the investigated stations. A stratified structure of 234Th-23su disequilibrium was in general observed in the upper 60 m water column, indicating that the euphotic zone of the northwestern SCS in this reason can be divided into two layers, an upper and lower layer, with different export rates. POC export fluxes were estimated from a one-dimensional steady state model of 234Th fluxes in combination with the measurement of POC/234Th ratios on suspended particles. The POC export in this region ranged from 8.2 to 20.0 mmol/（m2.d）, with an average of 16.0 mmol/（m2-d）, and was slightly higher than those previously reported in the southern SCS.

Gastrointestinal mucositis is one of the most debilitating side effects of the chemotherapeutic agent irinotecan(CPT-11). Andrographolide, a natural bicyclic diterpenoid lactone, has been reported to possess anti-colitis activity. In this study, andrographolide treatment was found to significantly relieve CPT-11-induced colitis in tumor-bearing mice without decreasing the tumor suppression effect of CPT-11. CPT-11 causes DNA damage and the release of double-stranded DNA(ds DNA) from the intestine, leading to cyclic-GMP-AMP synthase(c GAS)-stimulator of interferon genes(STING)-mediated colitis, which was significantly decreased by andrographolide both in vivo and in vitro. Mechanistic studies revealed that andrographolide could promote homologous recombination(HR) repair and downregulate ds DNA-c GAS-STING signaling and contribute to the improvement of CPT-11-induced gastrointestinal mucositis. These results suggest that andrographolide may be a novel agent to relieve gastrointestinal mucositis caused by CPT-11.

Objective: To design a new draining method for hemithyroidectomy at the lower side of the neck. Methods: Hemithyroidectomies of 235 cases were performed with the new drain incision at the lower side of the neck between December 1998 and July 2003. Results: All the draining operative procedures were performed smoothly, and produced a cosmeticulous scar. The mean amount drained was 20 ml (minimum 5 ml, maximum 80 ml) and no patients developed wound infection. Conclusion: The drain incision for hemithyroidectomy placed at the lower side of the neck results in a cosmeticulous scar which is easily covered by the collar and was safe and effective. We thereby recommend the use of this drain incision for hemithyroidectomy.

Objective： We investigated the clinical characteristics, and the prognostic factors of triple-negative breast cancer. Methods： 130 triple-negative breast cancer patients were reviewed on clinical characteristics and prognosis. All cases were lack of expression of estrogen receptor, progesterone receptor, and HER2/neu determined by immunohistochemistry. Results： 17.1% of all breast cancer patients （774 cases） were triple-negative breast cancer, and 68.9% of triple-negative breast cancer patients （91 cases） were premenopausal. 53.8% of patients （71 cases） had the tumors with T2 size, and 39.4% of them （52 patients） had lymph node metastasis. The rate of relapse in patients with lymph node metastasis was obviously higher than that in patients without lymph node metastasis （P = 0.001）. The median time of follow-up was 63 months. 33 cases relapsed and 20 patients died. 23 patients had at least two organs metastasis. The 5-year disease-free and overall survival rates were 73.8% and 85.7%. Conclusion： Triple-negative breast cancer patients commonly have high rate of multiple distant metastasis in 2-3 years after treatment. The status of lymph node is the most important prognostic factor. The triple-negative breast caner patients with lymph node metastasis have poor prognosis.

Head and neck cancers become a severe threat to human’s health nowadays and represent the sixth most common cancer worldwide. Surgery remains the first-line choice for head and neck cancer patients. Limited resectable tissue mass and complicated anatomy structures in the head and neck region put the surgeons in a dilemma between the extensive resection and a better quality of life for the patients. Early diagnosis and treatment of the pre-malignancies, as well as real-time in vivo detection of surgical margins during en bloc resection, could be leveraged to minimize the resection of normal tissues. With the understanding of the head and neck oncology, recent advances in optical hardware and reagents have provided unique opportunities for real-time pre-malignancies and cancer imaging in the clinic or operating room. Optical imaging in the head and neck has been reported using autofluorescence imaging, targeted fluorescence imaging, high-resolution microendoscopy, narrow band imaging and the Raman spectroscopy. In this study, we reviewed the basic theories and clinical applications of optical imaging for the diagnosis and treatment in the field of head and neck oncology with the goal of identifying limitations and facilitating future advancements in the field.

Objective: To investigate the relationship between the prognosis of Epithelial Ovarian Cancer (EOC) and its ascites. Methods: Retrospectively analysis is performed for the clinical, pathological and followed up data of 101 in-patients suffering from epithelial ovarian cancer and operated with tumor debulking surgery in our hospital from January 1986 to December 1993. The patients was divided into two groups based upon the first laparotomy finding with ascites(62) or without(39). Age average, cell type, advanced proportion and survival rate of the patients are evaluated by a χ2 test. Results: For age average and cell type, no statistical difference was noted. However, there were more advanced cases in ascites group than in the other (P<0.01). The 3-, 4- and 5-year survival in the no-ascites group were 87.02%, 73.42%, 57.10% respectively compared with 65.02%, 38.66%, 28.12% in the ascites group. The 5-year survival rate of stage I, II,III, IV patients in no-ascites group are 77%, 70%, 41.1%, 0 respectively, compared with that of 60%, 56.8%, 15.46%, 0 respectively in the ascites group. The results shows that 3-, 4-, and 5-year survival in no-ascites group were significantly higher than those in ascites group(P<0.01). Conclusion: Presence of ascites is a factor of poor prognosis for EOC.

Objective:Neuraxial anesthesia(NA)showed to reduce both morbidity and mortality in patients undergoing laparoscopic *** aimed to investigate the use of NA in patients undergoing transperitoneal three-dimensional laparoscopic radical prostatectomy(t-3DLRP)and compare the intraoperative and postoperative outcomes with a control group of patients undergoing t-3DLRP under general anesthesia(GA).Methods:A prospective,double-center,double-surgeon study cohort of 84 consecutive patients undergoing t-3DLRP between June 2019 and June 2021 was analyzed.A study group of 42 patients undergoing t-3DLRP under NA was compared with a control group of 42 patients undergoing t-3DLRP under ***:The two group were similar in all demographic,clinical,and pathological *** blood gas parameters were within physiologic limits in both *** relaxation was adequate for surgery during both NA and *** length of stay was 1 day shorter for NA group than GA group(5 days vs.6 days,p=0.05).t-3DLRP under NA had a statistically lower rate of minor complications(4.8%vs.19.0%,p=0.03)and less postoperative pain(median numeric rating scale 3 vs.4,p=0.01)compared to *** major complications were observed in both *** more patients were willing to undergo a similar intervention under NA than GA(p=0.04).Conclusion:t-3DLRP under NA is a feasible and safe procedure,with less postoperative pain and fewer minor complications than the same procedure under *** allows the maintenance of muscle relaxation and respiratory excursions without interfering with surgery.

Clinical observation of rh-endostatin combined with chemotherapy as first line treatment for metastatic colorectal cancer

Objective To analyze the efficacy and safety of Rh-endostatin combined with chemotherapy in the treatment of metastatic colorectal *** All 60 metastatic colorectal cancer patients were divided into the test group(n = 30) and the control group(n = 30). The control group was treated with chemotherapy regime FOLFOX4(Oxaliplatin + Fluorouracil + Calcium Levofolinate), the test group was treated by Endostar combined with FOLFOX4 *** The response rates were 53.3% in test group and 36.7% in control group respectively(P 0.05). The major toxicities were myelosuppression, gastrointestinal symptoms, neurotoxicity, most in grade I-II. After chemotherapy, quality of life(QOL) of patients were more improved than before treatment. After treatment the carcino embryonie antigen(CEA) and caner antigent 199(CA199) levels decreased obviously, furthermore, the test group decreased more obviously than the control group. Conclusion Rh-endostatin combined with chemotherapy in the treatment of metastatic colorectal cancer is safer and effective, and also improves PFS.
