Supporting nurse practitioner education:Preceptorship recruitment and retention

Objectives:Clinical experience is an essential component of nurse practitioner(NP)education that relies heavily on *** and retention of preceptors is challenging due to many variables that can affect NP education and *** surveyed Canadian NP programs to understand their preceptorship structures,how they support preceptorship,and to identify gaps and challenges to recruitment and retention of ***:An 18-item survey,developed by the NP Education Interest Group,was distributed to 24 universities across 10 Canadian *** validity and reliability was assessed by experienced NPs and NP *** were analyzed using relative frequency statistics and thematic *** consisted of administrative staff and/or faculty designated as responsible for recruitment and retention of NP ***:Seventeen returned surveys were analyzed and demonstrated more similarities than differences across Canada's NP programs,particularly related to barriers affecting recruitment and retention of *** findings identified NP programs have too many students for the number of available clinical sites/preceptors,resulting in overutilization,burnout,or refusal to take *** with other health disciplines for clinical placements was identified as a challenge to *** commented they lack time to recruit,provide follow-up,offer support,or seek preceptors'feedback due to competing work *** identified the need for standardized funding for preceptor remuneration and recognition across the ***:The findings suggest the need for exploring a wider intraprofessional collaboration among graduate NP programs/faculty,clinical placement sites,and NPs to facilitate the recruitment and retention of preceptors.

Consensus views on competencies and teaching methods for an interprofessional curriculum on complementary and integrative medicine:A Delphi study

Quality of life among women with breast cancer living in Wuhan, China

Background:Quality of life is an important indicator in patients with breast *** here reported that the quality of life in patients with breast cancer is low and many factors contribute to this poor quality of ***:To examine the relationships among demographic characteristics,optimism,social support,illness related factors,appraisal of illness,coping strategies and the quality of life of Chinese women with breast cancer residing in Wuhan,***:A convenience sample of 156 Chinese women with breast cancer was recruited from five teaching hospitals in Wuhan,*** completed the Revised Life Orientation Test,the Perceived Social Support Scale,the Symptom Distress Scale,the Appraisal of Illness Scale,the Medical Coping Modes Questionnaire,and the Functional Assessment of Cancer *** analysis was used to examine factors influencing quality of ***:Significant relationships were found between optimism,symptom distress,social support,appraisal of illness,a give-in coping mode and quality of ***,social support,symptom distress,lymph node status,appraisal of illness,and a give-in coping mode accounted for 66.6%of the variance in quality of ***:The findings of this study underscore the importance of helping women reduce symptoms distress,appraise their illness positively,use less negative coping modes,and maintain optimism,maintain good social support,because all of these factors indirectly or directly affect their quality of life.

The migration of healthcare professionals,including nurses,is a global *** is driven by various factors,including the pursuit of better opportunities,living conditions,and professional development,as well as political instability or conflict in their home *** World Health Organization(WHO)has noted that high-income countries often rely on foreign-trained nurses to fill gaps in their healthcare systems[1].For instance,as of 2021,over 40%(52 million)of all nurses in the United States(US)were expatriates[2].In the United Kingdom(UK),the percentage of expatriate nurses was even higher,reaching approximately 18%in 2021[3].Owing to globalization and migration,healthcare providers must possess cultural competence to deliver improved care[4,5].Culturally responsive teaching(CRT)is rooted in the idea that culture plays a vital role in shaping people’s behaviors,beliefs,values,and communication styles[6].Furthermore,these cultural factors influence patients’perspectives on health,illness,healing,and their preferences for care and communication[7].By recognizing and embracing these cultural differences,nurses can provide more effective and compassionate care to their diverse patient population[8].

Barriers that practitioners face when initiating insulin therapy in general practice settings and how they can be overcome

AIM To explore primary care physicians' perspectives on possible barriers to the use of *** This systematic review was conducted according to the Preferred Reporting Items for Systematic Reviews and Meta-Analyses guidelines. Eight electronic databases were searched(between January 1, 1994 and August 31, 2014) for relevant studies. A search for grey literature and a review of the references in the retrieved studies were also conducted. Studies that focused on healthcare providers' perspectives on possible barriers to insulin initiation with type 2 diabetic patients were included, as well as articles suggesting solutions for these barriers. Review articles and studies that only considered patients' perspectives were excluded. RESULTS A total of 19 studies met the inclusion criteria and were therefore included in this study: 10 of these studies used qualitative methods, 8 used quantitative methods and 1 used mixed methods. Studies included a range of different health care settings. The findings are reported under four broad categories: The perceptions of primary care physicians about the barriers to initiate insulin therapy for type 2 diabetes patients, how primary care physicians assess patients prior to initiating insulin, professional roles and possible solutions to overcome these barriers. The barriers described were many and covered doctor, patient, system and technological aspects. Interventions that focused on doctor training and support, or IT-based decision support were few, and did not result in significant improvement. CONCLUSION Primary care physicians' known delay in insulin initiation is multifactorial. Published reports of attempts to find solutions for these barriers were limited in number.

Objective:The objective of the study is to describe the work-related quality of life(WRQOL)among nurses and explore its association with performance evaluation ***:A cross-sectional design was utilized measuring the WRQOL scale and the previous performance appraisal *** sampling approach was utilized with nurses stratified based on their position and then systematically random sampled based on their unit ***:One hundred and eighty-two nurses were *** half reported a high quality of work life(101;55.5%).Low scores were noted on the subscale working conditions(100;54.9%),low to average responses for home-work interface(109;59.9%),control at work(100;54.9%),and stress at work(90;49.5%).A higher proportion of nurses reported positive responses toward the areas of general well-being(113;62.1%)and job-career satisfaction(112;61.5%),than in the other *** were notable differences between WRQOL ratings:(1)Head nurses had the highest perceived quality of work life,followed by nurse supervisors and charge nurses(F=6.1,P<0.01)and(2)Nurses in the pay-patient services reported lower quality of working life,while those in office and outpatient services had more positive scores(F=4.6,P<0.01).Conclusion:Only more than half of the nurses reported a high quality of work life,some of its dimensions,particularly job and career satisfaction and working conditions,appeared to vary in the perceived degree across years in service,work hours,and *** assessment of the quality of work life may serve as an important tool to address staff burnout,absenteeism and other issues that affect job performance among health-care professionals.

Improvement in Production Yield of Hot-rolled Coil by Controlling Process Cobbles

The yield is dependent upon many factors,such as cobbles,total scrap generation,crop loss and scale *** appears that the huge quantity of scale is mainly responsible for the yield ***,by the correlation study,it reveals that the number of cobbles is the major contributor to the yield *** innovation lies in changing the focus of attacking the real problem by analysing the operating data which was not surfaced *** focus shifted from the furnace to the mill and the cobbles studied through the years *** the analysis proved to be helpful for the future prevention of the similar kind of *** internal target of bringing down the number of cobbles per month in single digit was *** also helped in improving the maintenance practice and reducing the amount of delays *** yield was improved by 0.93%.

Electrical stimulation of acupoint combinations against deep venous thrombosis in elderly bedridden patients after major surgery

OBJECTIVE:To compare the effects of electrical stimulation of different acupoint combinations among postoperative bedridden elderly patients on hemorheology and deep venous blood flow velocity and investigate the role of electrical stimulation against deep vein thrombosis(DVT).METHODS:From November 2010 to October 2011,a total of 160 elderly bedridden patients after major surgery were divided into the conventional care group,invigorating and promoting Qi group,blood-activating and damp-eliminating group,and acupoint-combination stimulation *** blood viscosity,plasma viscosity,D-dimer levels,lower limb skin temperature,lower limb circumference,and flow velocities of the external iliac vein,femoral vein,popliteal vein,and deep calf veins in all patients were documented and compared among the four ***:Whole blood viscosity,plasma viscosity,D-dimer levels,and lower limb circumference were significantly reduced in the blood-activating and damp-eliminating group compared with the conventional care group(P0.05).Lower limb venous flow velocities were accelerated in the invigorating and promoting Qi group compared with the other groups,excluding the acupoint-combination stimulation group(P<0.05).CONCLUSION:Hemorheological indices in postoperative bedridden elderly patients were improved after combined electrical stimulation at Yinlingquan(SP 9) and Sanyinjiao(SP 6).Combined electrical stimulation at Zusanli(ST 36) and Taichong(LR 3),on the other hand,accelerated lower limb venous flow.

Telehealth utilization among Egyptian population and health institutional readiness:An exploratory study

Objective:This study aimed to assess the public’s perspectives and the health institutions’readiness for telehealth utilization in ***:A cross-sectional study design was employed,and data were collected from a convenient sample of 800 Egyptian citizens and 26 nursing administrators and information technology personnel from 16 governmental hospitals and 10 private hospitals between January and March *** Egyptian community utilization of telehealth questionnaire and the telemedicine hospital readiness assessment were used to collect the ***:The results revealed that 35.1%of the general Egyptian population used telehealth services and 43%expressed willingness to use them in *** perceived by the general Egyptian population,the most prevalent barriers to telehealth utilization were communication barriers(97.6%),lack of confidence in health professionals(77.6%),technological limitations(72.5%),the need for physical examination(25%),and privacy concerns(10%).Regarding hospital readiness,42%of governmental hospitals were not taking any initiative to implement telehealth services,and 15.4%were at the beginner level,meaning that some steps had been ***,the hospital was still far from being able to implement telehealth *** contrast,private hospitals were either at the beginner or advanced ***:Although the use of telehealth services in Egypt has increased,there is a need to address the barriers to public utilization and improve hospitals’readiness to implement telehealth services to enhance public usage.
