Methane, an abundant one-carbon（C1） resource, is extensively used in the industrial production of vital fuels and value-added chemicals. However, current industrial methane conversion technologies are energy-and carbon-intensive, mainly due to the high activation energy required to break the inert C–H bond, low selectivity, and problematic side reactions, including CO2emissions and coke deposition. Electrochemical conversion of methane（ECM） using intermittent renewable energy offers an attractive solution, due to its modular reactor design and operational flexibility across a broad spectrum of temperatures and pressures. This review emphasizes conversion pathways of methane in various reaction systems, highlighting the significance and advantages of ECM in facilitating a sustainable artificial carbon cycle. This work provides a comprehensive overview of conventional methane activation mechanisms and delineates the complete pathways of methane conversion in electrolysis contexts. Based on surface/interface chemistry, this work systematically analyzes proposed reaction pathways and corresponding strategies to enhance ECM efficiency towards various target products, including syngas, hydrocarbons, oxygenates, and advanced carbon materials. The discussion also encompasses opportunities and challenges for the ECM process, including insights into ECM pathways, rational electrocatalyst design, establishment of benchmarking protocols, electrolyte engineering, enhancement of CH4conversion rates, and minimization of CO2emission.

Optimal Planning of IDR-integrated Electricity-heat Systems Considering Techno-economic and Carbon Emission Issues

This study presents an optimal electricity-heat system(EHS)planning framework to promote the accommodation of wind power while considering technical,economic and environmental *** this end,integrated demand response(IDR)is introduced as a flexibility resource to complement the inherent fluctuation of renewable energy sources and modeled by using price elasticity *** the timing transferring and energy substitution potentials are considered in the proposed IDR *** the effect of IDR into the EHS planning model,a two-stage stochastic programming model can be devised,in which the optimal EHS configuration design and associated operation control techniques are found simultaneously to minimize the system’s total economic and carbon-emission costs over the planning *** multi-scale uncertainties arising from both long-term demand growth and operation-level variability of renewables/load demands are captured collectively by using a scenario-based *** suggested planning approach is illustrated using a real EHS test case and the results show that it is effective in practical applications.

A fault locating method for multi-branch hybrid transmission lines in wind farm based on redundancy parameter estimation

In order to solve the problem of‘‘abandoned’’wind caused by short circuit faults in a wind farm,a wind farm fault locating method based on redundancy parameter estimation is *** the characteristics of the traveling wave,transmission equations containing the position of the fault point are *** estimation from statistical theory is used to solve the redundant transmission equations formed by multiple measuring points to locate the *** addition,the bad data error detection capability of the parameter estimation is used to determine bad data and remove *** improves locating accuracy.A length coefficient is introduced to solve the error enlargement problem caused by a transmission line *** proposed fault locating method can solve the fault branch misjudgment problem caused by the short-circuit faults near the data measuring nodes of thewind farm based on the proposed fault interval *** also avoids the requirements to the traveling wave speed of traditional methods,thus its fault location is more *** effectiveness is verified through simulations in PSCAD/EMTDC,and the results show that it can be used in thefault locating of hybrid transmission lines.

This paper proposes a fast and decentralized solution methodology for the robust operation of multi-area integrated electricity-gas systems(M-IEGSs).A deterministic reformulation is obtained for the two-stage robust model by applying the linear decision rule based electrical reserve utilization scheme as well as regulating the distributed gas *** linear approximations are developed for the nonconvex Weymouth equation in the gas network to determine the gas flow *** penalty convex-concave procedure(P-CCP)is then adopted to refine a feasible local optimum for the nonconvex model with an acceleration *** decentralized decision-making is enabled by the alternating direction multipliers method(ADMM).The convergence as well as computation performance of the overall solution procedure can be guaranteed as only convex optimizations are *** results validate the effectiveness of the proposed methods as well as the benefits of the proposed convex programing based solution procedure.

A comparative analysis of dielectric properties of oil-paper insulation and polymer materials before and after thermal aging

The shortcomings of oil-immersed transformer solid insulation like low high-temperature resistance of the insulation paper and the uneven distribution of electric field caused by the large difference of dielectric constants between insulation paper and transformer oil,restricted the development of transformer with smaller size and larger *** view of this situation and the transformer’s demand for the dielectric physicochemical and mechanical property of insulation material,polycarbonate,polyester film and polyphenylene sulfide with high high-temperature resistance were chosen for the comparison analysis in this paper We did the 300-day thermal aging experiment on four samples in transformer oil under different aging temperatures of90°C,110°C and 130°C,then analyzed the changes of their dielectric *** experiment results are as follows;the permittivity and dielectric dissipation factor of the three polymer materials are apparently smaller than those of the paper both before and after 300-day aging;the volume resistivity and partial discharge inception voltage of the three materials are higher than those of the paper both before and after aging;and the breakdown field strength of polycarbonate is higher than that of the paper both before and after aging,while that of polyester film and polyphenylene sulfide are slightly lower than that of the paper.

Modeling and simulation of non-linear dynamic process of the induction motor system with fluctuating potential loads

The induction motor system with fluctuating potential loads is a non-linear complex electro-mechanical *** beam pumping motors as an example,this paper proposes a multiple factor non-linear mathematical model to study the operating performance of the induction motor *** model consists of non-linear time varying electromagnetic field equations,mechanical wave equations of sucker rods and non-linear coupling equation of reducer and four-bar *** equations are numerically solved by combining time-step finite element method(TS-FEM),finite difference method(FDM),a linear dimension reduction method and the Newton-Raphson *** results,which are validated by experiments,reveal the influence of the fluctuating potential load on magnetic field distributions,stator and rotor currents,the input power and the power *** model and simulation results provide theoretical and technical supports for subsequent researches on model simplification and energy saving technologies.

Novel hole transport layer of nickel oxide composite with carbon for high-performance perovskite solar cells

A depth behavioral understanding for each layer in perovskite solar cells （PSCs） and their inter[acial interactions as a whole has been emerged for further enhancement in power conversion efficiency （PCE）. Herein, NiO@Carbon was not only simulated as a hole transport layer but also as a counter electrode at the same time in the planar heterojunction based PSCs with the program wxAMPS （analysis of microelectronic and photonic structures）-lD. Simulation results revealed a high dependence of PCE on the effect of band offset between hole transport material （HTM） and perovskite layers. Meanwhile, the valence band offset （AEv） of NiO-HTM was optimized to be -0.1 to -0.3 eV lower than that of the perovskite layer. Additionally, a barrier cliff was identified to significantly influence the hole extraction at the HTM/absorber interface. Conversely, the AEv between the active material and NiO@Carbon-HTM was derived to be -0.15 to 0.15 eV with an enhanced efficiency from 15% to 16%.

Wetting property of smooth and textured hydrophobic surfaces under condensation condition

Static and dynamic wetting behaviors of sessile droplet on smooth,microstructured and micro/nanostructured surface under condensation condition are systematically *** contrast to the conventional droplet wetting on such natural materials by dropping,we demonstrate here that when dropwise condensation occurs,the sessile droplet will transit from the Cassie-Baxter wetting state to the Wenzel wetting state or partial Cassie-Baxter wetting state on the microstructured surface or the micro/nanostructured surface,which leads to a strong adhesion between the droplet and the *** contrast,the apparent contact angle and the sliding angle on the smooth surface changes a little before and after the condensation because of small *** analysis shows that the roughness factor controls the adhesion force of the droplet during condensation,and a theoretical model is constructed which will be helpful for us to understand the relationship between the adhesion force and the geometry of the surface.

Distributed Model Predictive Load Frequency Control of Multi-area power System with DFIGs

Reliable load frequency control LFC is crucial to the operation and design of modern electric power systems. Considering the LFC problem of a four-Area interconnected power system with wind turbines, this paper presents a distributed model predictive control DMPC based on coordination scheme. The proposed algorithm solves a series of local optimization problems to minimize a performance objective for each control area. The generation rate constraints GRCs, load disturbance changes, and the wind speed constraints are considered. Furthermore, the DMPC algorithm may reduce the impact of the randomness and intermittence of wind turbine effectively. A performance comparison between the proposed controller with and without the participation of the wind turbines is carried out. Analysis and simulation results show possible improvements on closed-loop performance, and computational burden with the physical constraints. © 2014 Chinese Association of Automation.

Water droplet impact on superhydrophobic surfaces with microstructures and hierarchical roughness

Quantitative correlation between the critical impact velocity of droplet and geometry of superhydrophobic surfaces with microstructures is systematically *** data shows that the critical impact velocity induced wetting transition of droplet on the superhydrophobic surfaces is strongly determined by the perimeter of single micropillar,the space between the repeat pillars and the advancing contact angle of the sidewall of the *** proposed model agrees well with the experimental results,and clarifies that the underlying mechanism which is responsible for the superhydrophobic surface with hierarchical roughness could sustain a higher liquid pressure than the surfaces with microstructures.
