To the Editor:Adipose-derived stem cells(ASCs)are promising multipotent stem cells for regeneration of skeletal muscle(SM)tissues.[1]However,the low myogenic differentiation ability limits the application.[2]Therefore,it is necessary to summarize the current differentiation strategy to improve the differentiation *** methods(biochemical induction)and non-traditional strategies(co-culture,biomechanical approaches,and biomaterial utilization)are commonly used for the differentiation of ASCs into myogenic *** both strategies can effectively induce differentiation of myogenic cells,cellular unhealthy or immature myogenic differentiation status is still the greatest challenge for ***,the combination of non-traditional methods and traditional methods has the potential to significantly enhance myogenesis of ASCs with remarkable efficacy,however,evidence is currrently *** review discusses the traditional and non-traditional strategies,as well as several combination motheds of above strategies,for inducing ASCs differentiation into myogenic cells[Figure 1].

Skin wounds are common in accidental injuries,and the intricacies of wound repair are closely linked to endogenous electric *** stimulation plays a pivotal role in the restorative processes of skin injuries,encompassing collagen deposition,angiogenesis,inflammation,and *** electrical stimulation therapy replicates and enhances the effects of endogenous wound electric fields by applying an external electric field to the wound site,thereby promoting skin wound *** this study,we developed a self-powered repetitive mechanical impacts-electrical stimulation(RMI-ES)system utilizing a BaTiO_(3)/polydimethylsiloxane(PDMS)piezoelectric composite *** to conventional electrical stimulation devices,the fabricated piezoelectric composite film efficiently harvests energy from the pressure applied by the stimulation device and the tensile force occurring during natural rat *** results demonstrated that piezoelectric stimulation generated by the composite membrane expedited the cell cycle,promoting fibroblast ***,piezoelectric stimulation induced favorable changes in fibroblast gene expression,including increased expression of transforming growth factor-β1(TGF-β1),connective tissue growth factor(CTGF),collagen 1,collagen 3,vascular endothelial growth factor(VEGF),and alpha-smooth muscle actin(α-SMA),while reducing interleukin-6(IL-6)*** analysis revealed that piezoelectric stimulation may induce fibroblast migration,proliferation,and collagen expression by influencing PI3K/AKT serine/threonine kinase(AKT)*** confirmation through the addition of the PI3K inhibitor LY294002 validated that piezoelectric stimulation can regulate the repair process after skin injury through the ***,in vivo results demonstrated that the electric field at the wound site effectively promoted wound healing,reduced inflammation,and stimulated collagen deposition and ne

To the Editor: Thoracic endovascular aortic repair (TEVAR) has been widely accepted as the first-line treatment when aortic repair is indicated. However, TEVAR is still limited by anatomic conditions in many circumstances, and the most common exclusion situations are inadequate proximal and/or distal landing zones when important branch vessels are involved. The incidence of insufficient distal landing zone in descending TEVAR ranges from 2.5% to 15.2%, and different approaches to extend it were described. Hybrid surgery with combined TEVAR and open revascularization of visceral vessels has been employed from the early stage of endovascular aortic repair but it is associated with poor outcomes. Endovascular visceral artery revascularization, such as branched and fenestrated endograft, has been used more recently. Outcomes of stenting visceral arteries during fenestrated/branched aortic repair were explored by several studies and promising results were exhibited. However, these techniques demand heavily on available device and technical skills. Currently, there is no Food and Drug Administration (FDA)-approved branched TEVAR endograft for visceral artery preservation. Chimney or snorkel procedures are relatively easier to perform, but it is associated with a higher incidence of endoleaks.

Background:Several reconstructive techniques have been used to reconstruct scalp *** researchers have studied the utilization of bipedicled scalp advancement flaps for scalp defect *** this study,we will assess the adaptability of a bipedicled scalp advancement flap for coverage of huge scalp defects after tumor ***:This study was performed at the plastic surgery department,Fayoum University Hospital,on 20 patients with huge scalp tumors treated by adequate excision and reconstructed using a bipedicled scalp advancement flap from December 2021 to July ***:The study was conducted on 20 patients:16(80%)were men and 4(20%)were women presenting with large scalp *** mean age was 57.4 years(33-68 years).The sites of the tumors were 10(50%)occipital,6(30%)parietal,and 4(20%)*** major complications occurred postoperatively,and the bipedicled flaps survived well in all cases,with no ***:Huge scalp defects after tumor resection can be safely reconstructed with a large versatile bipedicled advancement scalp flap,either transversely or longitudinally oriented,with favorable functional results and accepted aesthetic results,apart from the alopecic area over the grafted donor site,which can be treated by tissue expansion if desired later.

Background: Prolonged pressure on the skin known as pressure sores, can cause frequent injuries to the skin and underlying tissues. However, several prevention approaches, including non-surgical and surgical management,are available. In flap surgery for pressure sores, a variety of flap types may be used;each offers certain benefits and some incidences of complications and recurrence. This study evaluated the versatility of the perforatorenhanced rhomboid flap technique for ischial sore ***: This prospective study was conducted in the plastic surgery department of Fayoum University *** perforator-enhanced rhomboid flap technique was employed in 20 patients with ischial pressure sores who failed to respond to conservative treatment. A proper history was obtained and a preoperative arterial duplex was performed to determine the site of the prominent perforators for their preservation at the base of the *** follow-ups and evaluations were ***: The mean age of the study group was 43.7 ± 13.1, ranging from 19 to 65 years. Moreover, 80% of the participants were males while 20% were female. The main etiology of the sores was paraplegia in 45% of *** mean surface area of sores was 24.8 ± 6.3 cm2. In 75% of cases, the color match of the flap was rated as excellent. Similarly, 70% of the patients rated flap thickness as excellent. In 55% of the cases, the scar appearance was deemed excellent. Overall satisfaction was reported as excellent by 40% of the patients, while only 5% reported poor satisfaction. Traumatic amputations remain one of the most frequent and disturbing wounds of armed *** this scenario,most amputees develop residual and phantom limb pain,impacting their quality of *** are several elective surgical procedures available for both conditions,such as neuroma excision followed by nerve reconstruction,nerve relocation,e.g.,surgically implanting a transected nerve into a muscle,nerve transfers in cases of associated paralysis,and most recently,regenerative peripheral nerve interface *** possible in the post-conflict phase,a coordinated effort between traveling humanitarian surgeons specializing in reconstructive microsurgery and local healthcare providers is essential for successfully treating phantom and chronic residual limb pain in post-conflict *** providing a detailed logistical framework for global humanitarian missions is beyond the scope of this article,we provide a brief perspective on a topic of utmost importance for reconstructive surgeons worldwide:the high-quality care and treatment of refugees and those whose lives have been impacted by conflict,disaster,or displacement.
