The healthcare industry is rapidly adapting to new computing environments and technologies. With academics increasingly committed to developing and enhancing healthcare solutions that combine the Internet of Things (IoT) and edge computing, there is a greater need than ever to adequately monitor the data being acquired, shared, processed, and stored. The growth of cloud, IoT, and edge computing models presents severe data privacy concerns, especially in the healthcare sector. However, rigorous research to develop appropriate data privacy solutions in the healthcare sector is still lacking. This paper discusses the current state of privacy-preservation solutions in IoT and edge healthcare applications. It identifies the common strategies often used to include privacy by the intelligent edges and technologies in healthcare systems. Furthermore, the study addresses the technical complexity, efficacy, and sustainability limits of these methods. The study also highlights the privacy issues and current research directions that have driven the IoT and edge healthcare solutions, with which more insightful future applications are encouraged.

Classifying network time series(NTS) is crucial for automating network administration and ensuring cyberspace security. It enables the detection of anomalies, the identification of network attacks,and the monitoring of performance issues, thereby providing valuable support for network protection and optimization. However, modern communication networks pose challenges for NTS classification *** include handling large-scale and complex NTS data, extracting features from intricate datasets, and addressing explainability requirements. These challenges are particularly pronounced for complex 5G networks. Notably, explainability has become crucial for the widespread deployment of network automation for 5G networks and beyond. To tackle these challenges, we propose a path-signature-based NTS classification model called recurrent signature(Recur Sig). This innovative model is designed to overcome the time-consuming feature selection problem by utilizing deep-learning(DL) techniques. Additionally, it provides a solution for addressing the black-box issue associated with DL models in network automation systems(NAS) by incorporating an explainable classification approach. Extensive experimentation on various public datasets demonstrates that Recur Sig outperforms existing models in accuracy and explainability. The results indicate its potential for application in cyberspace security and automated network management, offering an explainable solution for network protection and optimization.

Team adaptation to new cooperative tasks is a hallmark of human intelligence, which has yet to be fully realized in learning agents. Previous studies on multi-agent transfer learning have accommodated teams of different sizes but heavily relied on the generalization ability of neural networks for adapting to unseen tasks. We posit that the relationship among tasks provides key information for policy *** utilize this relationship for efficient transfer by attempting to discover and exploit the knowledge among tasks from different teams, proposing to learn an effect-based task representation as a common latent space among tasks, and using it to build an alternatively fixed training scheme. Herein, we demonstrate that task representation can capture the relationship among teams and generalize to unseen tasks. Thus, the proposed method helps transfer the learned cooperation knowledge to new tasks after training on a few source ***, the learned transferred policies help solve tasks that are difficult to learn from scratch.

Municipal solid waste landfill is the main disposal option for domestic garbage, in which microbial activities play an important role. However, despite the widespread practice of landfilling, the metagenomic microbial profiles of landfill sites remain poorly characterized. In this study, we used a combination of physicochemical analysis, ultraviolet-visible spectrophotometry, and high-throughput Illumina shotgun sequencing to systematically investigate the changes in soil enzyme activities, microbial community structure, and functional attributes in aged refuse collected from the Xingou Municipal Solid Waste Landfill in Taiyuan, China, with ordinary topsoil from an area within 5 km of the landfill as control soil. Except for neutral phosphatase (P=0.065), the activities of urease, laccase, dehydrogenase, sucrase, neutral protease, and β-glucosidase were all significantly reduced (P <0.05) in the aged refuse compared with the control soil. Contrastingly, catalase activity was found to be significantly elevated in the aged refuse. Compared with the control soil, aged refuse was characterized by higher richness and diversity of microbial communities, as reflected by the higher values of community richness estimators (Chao 1 and ACE) and diversity indices (Shannon and Simpson). In total, 186 phyla, 4 354 genera, and 34 459 species were identified, with 132 phyla, 1 914 genera, and7 369 species showing significantly different abundances between the aged refuse and the control soil. Actinobacteria and Acidobacteria were identified as the dominant phyla in the control soil, whereas Proteobacteria, Euryarchaeota (archaea), and Firmicutes were found to predominate in the aged ***, Euryarchaeota and Methanoculleus were the major taxa detected in the aged refuse, but were almost completely absent in the control soil.
