The term“Holocene temperature conundrum”refers to the inconsistencies between proxy-based reconstructions and transient model simulations,and it challenges our understanding of global temperature evolution during the *** reconstructions indicate a cooling trend following the Holocene Thermal Maximum,while model simulations indicate a consistent warming trend due to icesheet retreat and rising greenhouse gas *** factors,such as seasonal biases and overlooked feedback processes,have been proposed as potential causes for this *** this study,we examined the impact of vegetation-climate feedback on the temperature anomaly patterns in East Asia during the mid-Holocene(~6 ka).By utilizing the fully coupled Earth system model EC-Earth and performing simulations with and without coupled dynamic vegetation,our objective was to isolate the influence of vegetation changes on regional temperature *** findings reveal that vegetation-climate feedback contributed to warming across most of East Asia,resulting in spatially diverse temperature changes during the mid-Holocene and significantly improved model-data *** results high-light the crucial role of vegetation-climate feedback in addressing the Holocene temperature conundrum and emphasize its importance for simulating accurate climate scenarios.

The pollen morphology of six taxa of the genus Acinos Miller has been examined under scanning electron microscopy （SEM） and a description of each taxon has been given. Acinos pollen is stephanocolpate （hexacolpate）. Two main exine sculpturing types, foveolate-reticulate （only in subspecies of A. troodi） and reticulate have been defined. The dimension for the polar length ranges between 25.8-47.4 μm, equatorial width 24.5-34.4μm, colpus length 20.0-40.5μm and colpus width 1.2-2.5 μm. The shape is mostly subprolate to prolate, seldomly prolate-spheroidal. The results reveal rather uniform morphological features, however fine details are characteristic to differentiate the pollen taxa. Acinos pollen also share some common morphological features with the other Lamiaceae pollen.

The Late Ordovician Mass Extinction was the earliest of the ‘big’ five extinction events and the earliest to affect the trajectory of metazoan life. Two phases have been identified near the start of the Hirnantian period and in the middle. It was a massive taxonomic extinction, a weak phylogenetic extinction and a relatively benign ecological extinction. A rapid cooling, triggering a major ice age that reduced the temperature of surface waters, prompted a drop in sea level of some 100 m and introduced toxic bottom waters onto the shelves. These symptoms of more fundamental planetary processes have been associated with a range of factors with an underlying driver identified as volcanicity. Volcanic eruptions, and other products, may have extended back in time to at least the Sandbian and early Katian, suggesting the extinctions were more protracted and influential than hitherto documented.

Fossil apes are known from several late Miocene localities in Yunnan Province,southwestern China,principally from Shihuiba(Lufeng)and the Yuanmou Basin,and represent three species of *** mostly comprise large samples of isolated teeth,but there are also several partial or complete adult crania from Shihuiba and a single juvenile cranium from *** we describe a new,relatively complete and largely undistorted juvenile cranium from the terminal Miocene locality of Shuitangba,also in *** is only the second ape juvenile cranium recovered from the Miocene of Eurasia and it is provisionally assigned to the species present at Shihuiba,Lufengpithecus *** has most often been linked to the extant orangutan,Pongo pygmaeus,but recent studies of the crania from Shihuiba and Yuanmou have demonstrated that this is *** new cranium reinforces the view that Lufengpithecus represents a distinct,late surviving lineage of large apes in the late Miocene of East Asia that does not appear to be closely affiliated with any extant ape *** substantially increases knowledge of cranial morphology in Lufengpithecus and demonstrates that species of this genus represent a morphologically diverse radiation of apes,which is consistent with the dynamic tectonic and biotic milieu of southwestern China in the late Miocene.

Wild aurochs(Bos primigenius)were once widespread across Eurasia and North Africa but became extinct around the 17th century[1].Aurochs are considered the ancestor of modern taurine(*** taurus)and indicine(***)cattle,which were independently domesticated within regions restricted to Southwest Asia and South Asia,respectively[2,3].Extensive gene flow from local aurochs to domestic cattle has been well documented in Southwest Asia,Europe,and Africa[3,4],raising questions about the mechanisms underlying both the domestication and dispersal of early cattle.

Background:Increasing threat to Central Europe’s forests from the growing population of the European spruce bark beetle Ips typographus (L.) calls for developing highly effective methods of detection of the infestation spots. The main goal of this study was to establish an automatic workflow for detection of dead trees and trees in poor condition of Picea abies using Middle Wave Infrared spectral range obtained from the ***:The studies were conducted in Wigry National Park (Poland) in 2020. A fusion of aircraft thermal data and laser scanning was used. Synchronous with thermal data acquisition ground reference data were obtained for P. abies in different health conditions. Determination of the range of canopy temperatures characteristic of the three condition states (‘healthy’,‘poor condition’,‘dead’) was performed using K-mean clustering. The accuracy of the method was evaluated on two validation sets:(1) individual tree canopies determined by photointerpretation, and (2) automatic segmentation of laser scanning ***:The results showed that the average temperature of ‘healthy’trees was 27.70℃, trees in ‘poor condition’28.57℃, and ‘dead’trees 30.17℃. High temperature differences between ‘healthy’and ‘dead’P. abies made it possible to distinguish these two condition classes with high accuracy. Lower accuracies were obtained for the class of ‘poor condition’, which was found to be confusing with both ‘healthy’and ‘dead’trees. According to results from the first validation set, a high overall accuracy of 0.60 was obtained. For the second validation set, the overall accuracy was reduced by 11%.Conclusions:This study indicates that canopy temperature recorded from the airborne level is a variable that differentiates ‘healthy’spruces from those in ‘poor condition’and the ‘dead’trees. The results confirmed that thermal and airborne laser scanning data fusion allows for creating a quick and simple workflow, which can successfully separate individual tre
