To investigate the therapeutic effects and mechanisms of garlicin for treatment of unstable angina pectoris (UAP), garlicin injectio was intravenously dripped 60 mg/day in 34 cases for 10 days. Nitroglycerine was used in 21 cases of the control group. The results showed that the total effective rates in improving symptoms and electrocardiogram after garlicin treatment were respectively 82% and 62%, and that the plasma endothelin and blood sugar levels were markedly lowered in cases with hyperglycemia.

BACKGROUND Discoid meniscus is a congenital anomaly that typically affects the lateral *** appearance of the discoid medial meniscus in both knees is extremely rare,with an incidence of only 0.012%.CASE SUMMARY Our patient was a 30-year-old *** no obvious predisposing causes,she began to experience pain in both knees,which worsened while walking and *** pain was aggravated after exercise,and joint flexion and extension activities were accompanied by knee ***’s test was positive on physical examination,and there was a pressing pain in the medial articular *** radiographs of both knees revealed no obvious abnormalities in the bilateral knee joint *** meniscectomy as well as menisci reformation were performed on both knees under *** the guidance of rehabilitation,the patient’s range of motion in both knees returned to normal without pain and knee *** This study showed that the clinical manifestations of the discoid medial meniscus injury are identical to those of the conventional medial meniscus injury,and arthroscopic surgery is effective.

Efficacy Evaluation for Depression with Somatic Symptoms Treated by Electroacupuncture Combined with Fluoxetine

Objective: This study is to investigate the clinical therapeutic effects and safety of treating mild or moderate depression with somatic symptoms with electroacupuncture combined with Fluoxetine. Methods: 95 cases of mild or moderate depression with somatic symptoms were randomly divided into a Fluoxetine group, and an electroacupuncture plus Fluoxetine group. Hamilton Depression Scale (HAMD) was used for the assessment of clinical therapeutic effects and Treatment Emergent Symptom Scale (TESS) was used for assessment of adverse reactions. Results: The total effective rate was 77.27% in the Fluoxetine group and 78.26% in the electroacupuncture plus Fluoxetine group, showing no statistically significant difference between these two groups (P>0.05). However, the treatment took effect after two weeks in the electroacupuncture plus Fluoxetine group but after four weeks in Fluoxetine group. During this time, a better therapeutic effect on depression with mild or moderate somatic symptoms was found in the electroacupuncture plus Fluoxetine group, which also had fewer adverse reactions than the Fluoxetine group. Conclusion: Electroacupuncture combined with Fluoxetine takes effect faster for relieving the somatic symptoms with fewer adverse reactions. It is worth popularizing clinically.

Objective： Using methods of clinical scale assessment and cerebral functional imaging to compare the relative specificity of needling acupoints Baihui （DU20）, Shuigou （DU26） and Shenmen （HTT） in intervening vascular dementia （VD） in different areas in the brain. Methods： Fifty patients with VD were randomized into 5 groups. Needling on conventionally used acupoints of hand and foot three Yang-meridians aiming at hemiplegia was applied to the patients in Group A, and needling on DU20 to Group B, on DU26 to Group C, on HT7 to Group D and on all the three to Group E was applied additionally. Assessments of Mini Mental State Examination （MMSE）, Activities of Daily Living （ADL） and Family Attitude Questionnaire （FAQ） were made. And the positron emission computerized tomography （PET） and single photon emission computerized tomography （SPECT） examinations were conducted in 5 selected patients from each group before and after treatment. Results： Needling on conventional acupoints plus DU20 could effect the inner temporal system, thalamencephalon system and prefrontal cortical system to improve memory and executive capacity of VD patients; conventional acupoints plus DU26 could effect more to the prefrontal cortical system to obviously elevate the executive capacity; that plus HT7 would reveal an effect similar to but rather weaker than plus DU20, and effect more to memory; and that plus all the three simultaneously could effect rather roundly multiple aspects of the nervous system related to intellectual activities, to elevate the recognition and enhance the executive capacity. Conclusion： Needling on various acupoints like DU20, DU26 and HT7 have effects on different brain areas.

OBJECTIVE:To determine the mechanisms by which Kangxianling(KXL) treats renal interstitial fibrosis using a customized gene ***:Twelve out of 18 specific pathogen-free sprague dawley(SPF SD) rats underwent a unilateral ureteral *** rats were then randomly assigned into either the model unilateral ureteral obstruction(UUO) or Kangxianling(KXL) *** other six rats were assigned to the sham-operated *** UUO and sham-operated groups were given normal saline via intragastric administration,whereas the KXL group was given KXL via intragastric *** rats were sacrificed for renal tissue collection(*** nephridial tissue),and the detection of genetic changes with the customized ***:Compared to the sham-operated group,transforming growth factor-β1(TGF-β1),Smad2,and Smad3 genes were significantly up-regulated in the UUO group,with >1.5-fold rise(P1.5-fold(P1.5-fold(P1.5-fold(P<0.01).CONCLUSION:It was found that KXL can significantly reduce the gene levels of TGF-β1,Smad2,and *** findings also revealed significantly lower TGF-β1/Smads-mediated gene transcription *** findings suggest that KXL may negatively regulate the TGF-β1/Smads signal pathway to inhibit the occurrence of renal fibrosis.

This study investigated clinical outcomes of biomimetic mineralized collagen artificial bone putty for bone reconstruction in the treatment of calcaneus *** cases of calcaneal fractures surgically treated with open reduction and internal fixation in our hospital from June 2014–2015 were chosen and randomly divided into two groups,including 30 cases treated with biomimetic mineralized collagen artificial bone putty as treatment group,and 30 cases treated with autogenous ilia as control *** average follow-up time was 17.263.0 *** results showed that the surgery duration and postoperative drainage volume of treatment group were significantly lower than control group;there were no statistically significant differences in the fracture healing time,American Orthopaedic Foot and Ankle Society scores at 3 and 12 months after surgery,Bo¨hler’s angle,Gissane’s angle and height of calcaneus between the two *** were no significant differences in wound complication and reject reaction between the two groups,while significant difference in donor site *** a conclusion,the implantation of biomimetic mineralized collagen artificial bone putty in the open reduction of calcaneal fracture resulted in reliable effect and less complications,which is suitable for clinical applications in the treatment of bone defect in calcaneal fractures.

AIM: To study patient outcomes after surgical correction for iatrogenic patellar ***: This retrospective study looked at 17 patients(19 knees) suffering from disabling medial patellar instability following lateral release surgery. All patients underwent lateral patellofemoral ligament(LPFL) reconstruction by a single surgeon. Assessments in all 19 cases included functional outcome scores, range of motion, and assessment for the presence of apprehension sign of the patella to determine if LPFL reconstruction surgery was successful at restoring patellofemoral ***: No patients reported any residual postoperative symptoms of patellar instability. Also no patients demonstrated medial patellar apprehension or examiner induced subluxation with the medial instability test described earlier following LPFL reconstruction. Furthermore, all patients recovered normal range of motion compared to the contralateral limb. For patients with pre and postoperative outcome scores, the mean overall knee injury and osteoarthritis outcome score increased significantly, from 34.39 preoperatively(range: 7.7-70.12) to 69.54 postoperatively(range:26.82-91.46) at final follow-up(P < 0.0001). CONCLUSION: This novel technique for LPFL reconstruction is effective at restoring lateral restraint of the patellofemoral joint and improving joint functionality.
