BACKGROUND Cold-dampness-type knee osteoarthritis is a common middle-aged and elderly disease,but its pathogenesis is not fully understood,and its clinical treatment has *** sulfate capsules are commonly used for treating arthritis,and San Bi Tang is a classic formula of traditional Chinese medicine(TCM)that has the effects of warming yang,dispelling dampness,relaxing muscles,and activating *** research hypothesized that the combination of modified San Bi Tang and glucosamine sulfate capsules could enhance the clinical efficacy of treating cold-dampness-type knee osteoarthritis through complementary *** To analyze the clinical efficacy of San Bi Tang combined with glucosamine sulfate capsules when treating cold-dampness-type knee *** A total of 110 patients with cold-dampness-type knee osteoarthritis were selected as research subjects and randomly divided into a control group and an experimental group of 55 cases *** control group received only treatment with glucosamine sulfate capsules,while the experimental group received additional treatment with modified San Bi Tang for a duration of 5 *** patients’knee joint functions,liver and kidney function indicators,adverse reactions,and vital signs were evaluated and analyzed using SPSS 26.0 *** Before treatment,the two groups’genders,ages,and scores were not significantly different,indicating *** groups’scores improved after treatment,which could indicate pain and knee joint function improvement,but the test group had better *** TCM-specific symptoms and the clinical efficacy of the treatment in the test group were *** and after treatment,there were no abnormalities in the patients’liver and kidney function *** The combination of modified San Bi Tang and glucosamine sulfate capsules is superior to treatment with sulfated glucosamine alone and has high safety.

To the Editor: Neurofibromatosis type 1(NF-1), or Von Recklinghausen disease, is a genetic disorder inherited in an autosomal dominant pattern. It is caused by a mutation in the neurofibromin gene located on chromosome 17, accounting for 96% of all neurofibromatosis cases. This condition can affect multiple systems and often leads to the formation of tumors along the nervous system [1]. Patients with NF-1 may exhibit various symptoms, including Lisch nodules, neurofibromas, scoliosis, café au lait spots, learning disabilities, vision disorders, and epilepsy.

Neonatal hypoxic-ischemic brain injury is the main cause of hypoxic-ischemic encephalopathy and cerebral ***,there are few effective clinical treatments for neonatal hypoxic-ischemic brain ***,we investigated the neuroprotective and molecular mechanisms of exogenous nicotinamide adenine dinucleotide,which can protect against hypoxic injury in adulthood,in a mouse model of neonatal hypoxic-ischemic brain *** this study,nicotinamide adenine dinucleotide(5 mg/kg)was intraperitoneally administered 30 minutes befo re surgery and every 24 hours *** results showed that nicotinamide adenine dinucleotide treatment improved body weight,brain structure,adenosine triphosphate levels,oxidative damage,neurobehavioral test outcomes,and seizure threshold in experimental *** mass tag proteomics revealed that numerous proteins were altered after nicotinamide adenine dinucleotide treatment in hypoxic-ischemic brain injury *** reaction monitoring and western blotting confirmed changes in the expression levels of proteins including serine(or cysteine)peptidase inhibitor,clade A,member 3N,fibronectin 1,5'-nucleotidase,cytosolic IA,microtubule associated protein 2,and complexin *** analyses showed that nicotinamide adenine dinucleotide ameliorated hypoxic-ischemic injury through inflammation-related signaling pathways(e.g.,nuclear factor-kappa B,mitogen-activated protein kinase,and phosphatidylinositol 3 kinase/protein kinase B).These findings suggest that nicotinamide adenine dinucleotide treatment can improve neurobehavioral phenotypes in hypoxic-ischemic brain injury mice through inflammation-related pathways.

BACKGROUND Whether operation is superior to non-operation for humeral shaft fracture remains *** hypothesized that operation could decrease the nonunion and reintervention rates and increase the functional *** To compare the clinical efficacy between operative and nonoperative approaches for humeral shaft *** We searched the PubMed,Web of Science,ScienceDirect,and Cochrane databases from 1990 to December 2023 for clinical trials and cohort studies comparing the effects of operative and conservative methods on humeral shaft *** investigators independently extracted data from the eligible studies,and the other two assessed the methodological quality of each *** quality of the included studies was assessed using the Cochrane risk bias or Newcastle-Ottawa *** nonunion,reintervention and the overall complications and functional scores were pooled and analyzed using Review Manager software(version 5.3).RESULTS A total of four randomized control trials and 13 cohort studies were included,with 1285 and 1346 patients in the operative and nonoperative groups,*** in the operative group were treated with a plate or nail,whereas those in the conservative group were managed with splint or functional *** studies were assessed as having a high risk of bias,and the other 13 were of a low risk of bias according to the Newcastle-Ottawa Scale or Cochrane risk bias *** operative group had a significantly decreased rate of nonunion[odds ratio(OR)0.30;95%CI:0.23 to 0.40,reintervention(OR:0.33;95%CI:0.24 to 0.47),and overall complications(OR:0.62;95%CI:0.49 to 0.78)].The pooled effect of the Disabilities of Arm,Shoulder,and Hand score showed a significant difference at 3[mean difference(MD)-8.26;95%CI:-13.60 to-2.92],6(MD:-6.72;95%CI:-11.34 to-2.10),and 12 months(MD:-2.55;95%CI:-4.36 to-0.74).The pooled effect of Visual Analog Scale scores and the Constant-Murley score did not significantly differ between
