Topological insulators/superconductors are new states of quantum matter with metallic edge/surface *** this paper,we review the defects effect in these topological states and study new types of topological matters — topological hierarchy *** find that both topological defects（quantized vortices） and non topological defects（vacancies） can induce topological mid-gap states in the topological hierarchy matters after considering the superlattice of *** topological mid-gap states have nontrivial topological properties,including the nonzero Chern number and the gapless edge *** tight-binding models are obtained to describe the topological mid-gap states in the topological hierarchy matters.

We have studied the spin-dependent electron transmission through a quantum well driven by both dipole-type and homogeneous oscillating fields. The numerical evaluations show that Dresselhaus spin-orbit coupling induces the splitting of asymmetric Fano-type resonance peaks in the conductivity, in which the dipole modulation and the homogeneous modulation are equivalent. Therefore, we predict that the dipole-type oscillation, which is more practical in the experimental setup, can be used to realize the tunable spin filters by adjusting the field oscillation-frequency and the amplitude as well.

We design proposals to generate a remote Greenberger-Horne-Zeilinger（GHZ） state and a W state of nitrogenvacancy（NV） centers coupled to microtoroidal resonators（MTRs） through noisy channels by utilizing time-bin encoding processes and fast-optical-switch-based polarization rotation *** polarization and phase noise induced by noisy channels generally affect the time of state generation but not its success probability and ***,the above proposals can be generalized to n-qubit between two or among n remote nodes with success probability unity under ideal ***,the proposals are robust for regular noise-changeable channels for the n-node *** method is also useful in other remote quantum information processing tasks through noisy channels.

We investigate the interactions of lattice phonons with Frenkel exciton, which has a small radius in a twodimensional discrete molecular lattice, by the virtue of the quasi-discreteness approximation and the method of multiplescale, and obtain that the self-trapping can also appear in the two-dimensional discrete molecular lattice with harmonic and nonlinear potential. The excitons＇ effect on the molecular lattice does not distort it but only causes it to localize which enables it to react again through phonon coupling to trap the energy and prevent its dispersion.

We investigate full counting statistics of quantum heat transfer in a collective-qubit system constructed by multiqubits interacting with two thermal baths. The nonequilibrium polaron-transformed Redfield approach embedded with an auxiliary counting field is applied to obtain the steady state heat current and fluctuations, which enables us to study the impact of the qubit–bath interaction in a wide regime. The heat current, current noise, and skewness are all found to clearly unify the limiting results in the weak and strong couplings. Moreover, the superradiant heat transfer is clarified as a system-size-dependent effect, and large number of qubits dramatically suppress the nonequilibrium superradiant signature.

Impact of neutron star crust on gravitational waves from the axial w-modes

The imprints of the neutron star crust on the gravitational waves emitted from the axial w-modes are investigated by adopting two typical equations of state （EOSs） of the crust matter and two representative EOSs of the core matter. It is shown that there is a significant effect of the crust EOSs on the gravitational waves from the axial w-mode oscillation for a stiff core EOS.

We analyze the energy aspects of single and coupled Hindmarsh–Rose(HR) neuron models with a quadratic flux controlled memristor. The energy function for HR neuron with memristor has been derived and the dynamics have been analyzed in the presence of various external stimuli. We found that the bursting mode of the system changes with external forcing. The negative feedback in Hamilton energy function effectively stabilizes the chaotic trajectories and controls the phase space. The Lyapunov exponents have been plotted to verify the stabilization of trajectories. The energy aspects during the synchronous dynamics of electrically coupled neurons have been analyzed. As the coupling strength increases, the average energy fluctuates and stabilizes at the point of synchronization. When the neurons are coupled via chemical synapse,the average energy variations show three important regimes: a fluctuating regime corresponding to the desynchronized, a stable region indicating synchronized and a linearly increasing regime corresponding to the amplitude death states have been observed. The synchronization transitions are verified by plotting the transverse Lyapunov exponents. The proposed method has a large number of applications in controlling coupled chaotic systems and in analyzing the energy change during various metabolic processes.

We study the topological properties of a one-dimensional （1D） hardcore Bose-Fermi mixture using the exact diagonalization method. We firstly add a hardcore boson to a fermionic system and by examining the edge states we find that the quasi-particle manifests the topological properties of the system. Then we study a mixture with 7 fermions and 1 boson. We find that the mixture also exhibits topological properties and its behaviors are similar to that of the corresponding fermionic system. We present a qualitative explanation to understand such behaviors using the mapping between a hardcore boson and a spinless fermion. These results show the existence of topological properties in a 1D hardcore Bose-Fermi mixture and may be realized using cold atoms trapped in optical lattices experimentally.

Langmuir probe measurements of radio frequency （RF） magnetic pole enhanced inductively coupled （MaPE-ICP） argon plasma were accomplished to obtain the electron number densities and electron temperatures. The measurements were carried out with a fixed RF frequency of 13.56 MHz in a pressure range of 7.5 mTorr to 75 mTorr at an applied RF power of 10 W and 100 W. These results are compared with a global （volume average） model. The results show good agreement between theoretical and experimental measurements. The electron number density shows an increasing trend with both RF power and pressure while the electron temperature shows decreasing trend as the pressure increases. The difference in the plasma potentiM and floating potential as a function of electron temperature measured from the electrical probe and that obtained theoretically shows a linear relation with a small difference in the coefficient of proportionality. The intensity of the emission line at 750.4 nm due to 2pl → 1s2 （Paschen＇s notation） transition closely follows the variation of ne with RF power and filling gas pressure. Measured electron energy probability function （EEPF） shows that electron occupation changes mostly in the high-energy tail, which highlights close similarity of 750.4 nm argon line to he.
