Effects of aromatherapy with Rosa damascena on nulliparous women's pain and anxiety of labor during first stage of labor

Background： Reducing labor pain and anxiety is one of the most important goals of maternity care. Objective： This study aimed to assess the effects of aromatherapy with Rosa damascena on pain and anxiety in the first stage of labor among nulliparous women. Design, setting, participants and interventions： This was a randomized clinical trial of 110 nulliparous women. The eligible participants were randomly assigned to two groups of aromatherapy and control in an Iranian maternity hospital. The participants received 0.08 mL of Rosa damascena essence in the aro- matherapy group and 0.08 mL of normal saline in the control group, every 30 min. Pain was measured 3 times, once each at three stages of cervical dilation （4-5, 6-7, and 8-10 cm）. Anxiety was measured twice, once each at two stages of cervical dilation （4-7 and 8-10 cm）. The tools for data collection were the Spielberger anxiety questionnaire, numerical pain rating scale, demographic and obstetric questionnaire, and an observational checklist. Data analyses included the t-test, Mann-Whitney U test and Chi-square test. Main outcome measures： Severity of labor pain and severity of anxiety were used as primary outcome measures. Labor and delivery characteristics （including number of contractions, duration of contractions in second stage, Bishop score, augmentation by oxytocin, Apgar score, and mode of delivery）, demographic characteristics, and fertility information were used as secondary outcome measures. Results： Pain severity in the group receiving aromatherapy with R. damoscena was significantly lower than in the control group after treatment at each pain assessment （cervical dilation of 4-5, 6-7, and 8-10 cm; P 〈 0.05）. Anxiety levels were also significantly lower in the treatment group than in the control group after treatment at each time of measurement （cervical dilation of 4-7 and 8-10 cm; P 〈 0.05）. Process of becoming a mother in women receiving donated egg: Based on the grounded theory

Objective:To elucidate theoretically the safety and identity of mothers receiving egg and the process of becoming a ***:This study was conducted during 7 months from July 2018 to January 2019 by using a grounded theory *** women at the gestational age who received oocyte were selected with purposive sampling method and then entered the study using theoretical *** who had not decided definitely to participate and had not started the treatment course yet were excluded from the *** participating mothers were 28-44 years old with a mean age of(37.00±2.49)years.A total of 30 interviews were *** were collected by unstructured deep interviews and field *** interview duration ranged between 19 to 74 min with a mean time of 40 min and they were performed ***:Data analysis showed that"feeling of insecurity in personal and familial identity"formed in the context of"exposure to socio-cultural constraints"was the main problem of mothers receiving donated *** led to a set of coping strategies as"gradual acceptance","attempts to maintain the marital life","sensitivity in selecting donor","sensitivity in fetal care","seeking information and consultation","challenging the internal restlessness",and"treatment follow-up",all indicating the concept of"protection of personal and familial identity"as the core ***:The challenge faced by Iranian mothers receiving donated oocyte in the constrained sociocultural context forms a multilateral and all-inclusive insecurity.

Prevalence of retinopathy of prematurity in Iran： asystematic review and Meta-analysis

AIM： To estimate overall prevalence of retinopathy of prematurity （ROP） in Iran using a systematic review and Meta-analysis. METHODS： A systematic review and Meta-analysis was performed of all published studies pertaining to prevalence of ROP using international and national electronic databases （ISI Web of Sciences, PubMed, Scopus, Google Scholar, SlD, Maglran, and IranMedex） from their inception until May 2016 with standard keywords. Begg and Egger tests were used to examine the publication bias and Cochran test and f statistics were used to evaluate the statistical heterogeneity. Pooled estimate of the prevalence of ROP were calculated using random effects Meta- analysis. RESULTS： The publication bias assumption was rejected by Egger tests with P-value equal to 0.024. The results of Cochran test and 12 statistics revealed substantial heterogeneity （Q=1099.02, df=25, f=97.7%, P=-0.001）. The overall prevalence of ROP using the random effect model in Iran was 26.1% （95% Ch 20.3%-31.8%）. CONCLUSION： The prevalence of ROP is relatively high in Iran. Low birth weight and gestational age are significant risk factors for the disease. Improved care, including oxygen delivery and monitoring, for preterm babies in all facility settings would reduce the number of babies affected with ROP.

Reflections on 25 Years of Social Science Research Collaboration in China
