Development and evaluation of the Directive and Nondirective Support Scale for Patients with Type 2 Diabetes

Objectives:This study aims to develop the Directive and Nondirective Support Scale for Patients with Type 2 Diabetes(DNSS-T2DM)to measure diabetes-specific support and patients’preference as well as evaluate the construct validity and reliability of the ***:A cross-sectional study was conducted in Tongzhou District,Beijing,China from July to September 2015.A total of 474 participants who had been diagnosed as type 2 diabetes by physicians and completed the DNSS-T2DM were *** original 11-item DNSS-T2DM contains five items on nondirective support(Items 1-5)and six items on directive support(Items 6-11).There were two parallel questions for each item with one to measure the preference for support(Preference part)and the other to measure the perception of support in reality(Reality part).The final DNSS-T2DM was determined based on the results of the exploratory factor analysis(EFA).The construct validity of the final DNSS-T2DM was evaluated by the confirmatory factor analysis(CFA).The reliability was evaluated by internal consistency with Cronbach’sα***:A final 7-item DNSS-T2DM loaded on 2 factors with four items representing nondirective support and three items representing directive support was determined based on the *** CFA indicated a satisfactory construct *** internal consistency of the 7-item DNSS-T2DM as well as the nondirective support items was satisfactory with Cronbach’sα≥***:Our study supported the validity and reliability of the 7-item *** studies on the application of the DNSS-T2DM in different settings and population are needed.

Developmental Toxicity in Mice Following Paternal Exposure to Di-N-Butyl-Phthalate (DBP)

Does Hospital Ownership Influence Hand Hygiene Compliance?

The issue as to whether hospital ownership has an impact on the quality of care has long been a serious concern. Hand hygiene（HH） compliance is regarded as an important indicator of the quality of care in the control of hospital-acquired infections. However, little information is available on whether hospital ownership influences HH compliance. In this study, of 229 hospitals selected from Hubei province in China, 152 were public and 77 were private hospitals. A total of 23 652 healthcare workers（HCWs） were surveyed, using a convenience sampling. HH compliance, the WHO＇s ＂My Five Moments for hand hygiene＂（5 MHH）, among HCWs, together with the factors of hospital ownership, training frequency, bed occupancy rates, etc. were collected. Univariate analysis and ordinal logistic regression analysis were used to analyze factors affecting HH compliance. Overall, HH compliance rates were 67% and 79% for public and private hospitals, respectively. The HH compliance rates of HCWs and 5 MHH were between 55% and 95%, and influenced by hospital ownership（P〈0.05）, excluding compliance rate at the moment after body fluid exposure, and other influence factors included training frequency and bed occupancy rate（P〈0.05）. HH compliance is better in private than in public hospitals. Hospital ownership is a significant factor affecting HH compliance, in addition to training frequency and bed occupancy rate.

Vitamin D, a fat-soluble vitamin and endocrine horm one, and it impacts various bone and extra-bone health, such as osteoporosis, diabetes, and cancer. The main circulating form of vitamin D is 25-hydroxyvitamin D [25(OH)D] and it is a useful clinical biomarker of vitamin D status. The Institute of Medicine (IOM) defines as vitamin D deficiency (VDD) when serum 25(OH)D concentration is less than 20 ng/mL⑴.Worldwide, VDD is recognized as a severe public health problem. In 2007, Holick estimated that globally over one billion people suffered from VDD or vitamin D insufficiency (VDI). In China, it has bee n reported that the prevale nee of VDD ranged from 38.8% to 91.2% in different regions.

Lead-free metal halide scintillator materials for imaging applications

High-energy radiation detection and imaging technology has significant applications in highenergy physics research, medical imaging, and industrial monitoring. Lead-free metal halides exhibit exceptional potential for conducting indirect detection of high-energy radiation due to their characteristics of low toxicity, strong stability, high light yield, and large Stokes shift. This paper reviews the most recent advances in lead-free metal halide scintillator materials for X-ray imaging. Subsequently, it lists the most important parameters of scintillator performance and introduces the production procedures for single crystal, powder,and nanocrystal scintillators. Furthermore, it discusses the manufacturing of scintillator films with improved performance, focusing on large-area flexible scintillator films and the coupling with microstructures. Finally,it discusses current challenges and opportunities for enhancing X-ray imaging using lead-free metal halide scintillator materials.

Objective To evaluate whether the clustering of risk factors, both environmental and genetic, increases the risk of essential hypertension （EH） and the accumulation of risk factors influences the blood pressure level in normotensives. Methods On the basis of a prevalence survey, 501 subjects of Mongolian ethnicity （243 hypertensives and 258 normotensives） who were not related to each other were selected to conduct a case-control study. All subjects were interviewed with questionnaires and their blood specimens were collected. Renin gene insertion/deletion （I/D） polymorphism, a new genetic marker, was genotyped with PCR and polyacrylamide gel electrophoresis. Results Overweight, alcohol consumption, and renin gene I/D polymorphism were significant risk factors of EH （P〈0.05）. The odds ratios （OR） for the number of risk factors were 2.39 （95%CI： 0.98-6.74） for one risk factor, 5.03 （95%CI： 2.06-14.18） for two, and 6.09 （95%CI： 1.85-22.38） for three respectively after adjusting for age and sex. In normotensives, age- and sex-adjusted mean blood pressures increased with more accumulation of risk factors. However, there were no significant differences among the different blood pressure levels according to the number of risk factors （P〉0.05）. Conclusion Overweight, alcohol consumption, and renin gene I/D polymorphism are risk factors of EH in the Mongolian ethnic population of China. The accumulation of the risk factors causes a sharp increase of the risk of EH.
