To The Editor,I want to congratulate Jin and colleagues for their article entitled “ABO blood group is a predictor of survival in patients with laryngeal cancer” recently reported in Chinese Journal of Cancer, in which they assessed whether the ABO blood group was associated with prognosis in patients with laryngeal cancer [1]. They reported that compared with the patients with blood group non-O,patients with blood group O had significantly shorter ***, there is no satisfactory explanation why laryngeal cancer patients with blood group O had shorter *** group antigens are expressed on the surface of red blood cells and numerous other tissues throughout the body, including different types of cancer cells as well [2].These A or B antigens located on laryngeal cancer cell surface may be recognized from the immune system as antigenic foci. Hence, laryngeal cancer cells carrying A or B or both antigens could be destroyed by the immune system. On the other hand, laryngeal cancer cells harboring neither A nor B antigens, so-called type O cancer cells may not be recognized by immune cells and therefore may escape from immune destruction.

Background: Iopromide (Ultravist®) has been shown to be a very safe CM agent in previous post-marketing surveillance studies on Western and Asian populations. Our study aimed to analyse data pertaining to the safety, tolerability and diagnostic image quality of Iopromide in an unselected sub-set of the Chinese population. Methods: we analysed data for Chinese ambulatory and in-patients who received Iopromide for an imaging procedure (in accordance with the local package insert and routine clinical practice), as part of an international post-marketing surveillance study. Use of premedication was at the discretion of the attending physician. Patient demographics, clinical history, type of examination, contrast quality and tolerability, including pre-specified adverse drug reactions, were recorded. All statistical analyses were descriptive. Results: case report forms for 20,000 Chinese patients (61.3% men) were analysed, of whom 153 patients (0.77%) had risk factors for idiosyncratic contrast media reactions (at-risk group). Use of premedication, most commonly corticosteroids, was recorded for 5658 patients (28.3%) and 86 at-risk patients (56.2% of the at-risk group), respectively. The mean (±standard deviation) dose of iodine administered was 29 ± 5.5 g. During the physician’s evaluation of image parameters, contrast quality was considered to be “good” (64.7%) or “excellent” (29.3%) in the majority of patients. 571 patients (2.9%) experienced at least one adverse drug reaction [most frequently nausea (0.70%) and dysgeusia (0.62%)], which were typically transient and of mild intensity. Two serious adverse drug reactions were reported [edema (n = 1), decreased blood pressure and dyspnea (n = 1)]. The incidence of adverse drug reactions was increased in the at-risk group versus the overall patient population, and tended to reduce with premedication (mainly corticosteroids). 背景新辅助免疫治疗在局部晚期非小细胞肺癌（non-small cell lung cancer, NSCLC）的应用仍存在争议。因此，本研究旨在报道通过免疫联合化疗将初始不可切除c IIIB期NSCLC患者转化为根治性微创手术的系列病例，评估手术效果和术后的生存获益。方法回顾性分析2018年5月-2020年8月期间接受程序性细胞死亡受体1(programmed cell death-1,PD-1)抑制剂联合含铂双药化疗的51例c IIIB期NSCLC患者。收集入组患者手术相关数据和肿瘤相关数据。结果31例患者最终接受手术治疗，其中23例（74.2%）患者行肺叶切除术，1例（3.2%）患者行全肺切除术，5例（16.1%）患者行袖状肺叶切除术，2例（6.5%）患者行双肺叶切除术。中位手术时间为205 min（范围100-520），平均失血量为185 m L（范围10-1100）。15例患者出现致密粘连或纤维化。术后平均住院时间为6 d（范围3-13）。无手术相关死亡，仅5例（16.1%）患者发生术后并发症（无3级以上并发症）。10例（32.3%）患者达到主要病理缓解，22/31例（71.0%）患者出现纵隔病变降期。中位随访15.4个月，31例手术患者的中位无进展生存期/无病生存期（progression-free survival/disease-free survival, PFS/DFS）相对于未进行手术的无缓解或缓解的患者（分别为27.5个月vs 4.7个月vs 16.7个月）更长。结论初始不可切除的IIIB期NSCLC接受免疫联合化疗治疗后行根治性手术相对安全，手术相关死亡率和并发症发病率较低，与未手术患者相比DFS/PFS更长。

Background:The diagnosis of active pulmonary tuberculosis(TB)remains a challenge in clinic,especially for sputum negative pulmonary *** lavage fluid(BALF)has higher sensitivity than sputum for detection of Mycobacterium tuberculosis(Mtb).However,bronchoscopy is invasive and costly,and not suitable for all *** order to make TB patients get more benefit from BALF for diagnosis,we explore which indicator might be used to optimize the choice of ***:A total of 1539 sputum-smear-negative pulmonary TB suspects who underwent bronchoscopy were recruited for *** sensitivity,specificity and accuracy of Mtb detection in sputum and BALF were *** ratios and 95%confidence intervals were used to assess variables that associated with positive acid-fast bacilli(AFB)smear,Mtb culture and nucleic acid amplification test(NAAT)of BALF in sputum-negative and non-sputum-producing pulmonary TB ***:BALF has significantly higher sensitivity(63.4%)than sputum(43.5%)for Mtb detection by culture and NAAT.19.7%(122/620)sputum-negative and 40.0%(163/408)non-sputum-producing suspects had positive bacteriological results in *** sputum-negative and non-sputum-producing pulmonary TB suspects,the positivity of Mtb detection in BALF is associated with a younger age,the presence of pulmonary cavities and a positive result of interferon-gamma release assay(IGRA).Sputum-negative patients under 35 years old with positive IGRA and pulmonary cavity had 84.8%positivity of Mtb in ***:Our study indicated that combination of age,the presence of pulmonary cavity,and the result of IGRA is useful to predict the positivity of Mtb detection in BALF among sputum-negative and non-sputum producing pulmonary TB *** who are under 35 years old,positive for the presence of pulmonary cavity and IGRA,should undergo bronchoscopy to collect BAFL for Mtb tests,as they have the highest possibility to get bacteriologically confi

Objective: To evaluate transduction efficiency with recombinant adenovirus-mediated p53 (rAd/p53) therapy in a human colon cancer mouse model by intra-tumoral injection and intra-arterial delivery. Methods: The tumor pieces of human colon cancer SW480 were implanted in the livers of 45 nude mice. These mice were administrated with rAd/p53 by intratumoral injection and intra-arterial delivery. After 24 h, 48 h and 72 h rAd/p53 administration, 5 mice each group were killed with over anesthesia and their livers were removed. P53 expression and apoptosis of tumor and liver were assessed. Results: P53 expression and apoptosis of intratumoral administration group was higher than tail vein group and control group. Apoptosis and p53 expression of livers in three groups had no significant difference. Conclusion: p53 gene transduction efficiency and anticancer effect of rAd/p53 is much better by intra-tumoral injection than intra-arterial delivery.
