Methane-air diffusion filtration combustion in a radiative round-jet burner was numerically investigated in this *** purpose of this study was focused on the effects of porous media porosity and gas velocity on temperature distribution and CO and NO_(x)*** chemical kinetics was used where air and methane were assumed to be at their stoichiometric ratio,while thermo-physical properties were varied per the solid matrix porosity *** characteristics were evaluated based on conduction and radiation as the two primary heat transfer modes within the solid *** simulations were carried out based on a packed bed with 3 mm alumina *** show that combustion temperature increases while the temperature gradient decreases with the increase in porosity,yielding higher NO_(x),and lower CO ***,the combustion temperature is the lowest and most uniformly distributed with 1 m/s and 3 m/s gas velocities,wherewith 3 m/s gas velocity,combustion occurs outside of the porous *** corresponding NO_(x)and CO emissions are the lowest with 1 m/s gas velocity and increase with the increase in gas velocity from 1 m/s to 10m/s.

Multiphysics processes in the interfacial transition zone of fiber-reinforced cementitious composites under induced curing pressure and implications for mine backfill materials: A critical review

The mesoscale fiber-matrix interfacial transition zone(FM-ITZ) under induced curing pressure plays a key role in the effectiveness of fiber reinforcement and the engineering application of fiber-reinforced cementitious composites(FRCCs). This critical review establishes the link among induced curing pressure(i.e., external loading condition), multiphysics processes(i.e., internal governing mechanism), and interface behavior(i.e., material behavior) for FRCC materials through analysis of the state-of-the-art research findings on the FM-ITZ of FRCC materials. The following results are obtained. For the mechanical process, the induced curing pressure changes the stress state and enhances multicracking behavior, which can strengthen the FM-ITZ. For the hydraulic process, the strengthened seepage of the FM-ITZ under induced curing pressure weakens the effective stress and exaggerates the deficiency in water retention capacity between the bulk matrix and the FMITZ. For the thermal process, the induced curing pressure causes a steep temperature gradient in the FM-ITZ and thus influences the temperature evolution and thermally-induced microcracks in the FM-ITZ. For the chemical process, the induced curing pressure enhances hydration kinetics and results in the formation of additional hydration products in the FM-ITZ. Moreover, recommendations are proposed on the basis of findings from this review to facilitate the implementation of fiber reinforcement in cemented paste backfill technology.

Human motion recognition plays a crucial role in the video analysis ***,a given video may contain a variety of noises,such as an unstable background and redundant actions,that are completely different from the key *** noises pose a great challenge to human motion *** solve this problem,we propose a new method based on the 3-Dimensional(3D)Bag of Visual Words(BoVW)*** method includes two parts:The first part is the video action feature extractor,which can identify key actions by analyzing action *** the video action encoder,by analyzing the action characteristics of a given video,we use the deep 3D CNN pre-trained model to obtain expressive coding information.A classifier with subnetwork nodes is used for the final *** extensive experiments demonstrate that our method leads to an impressive effect on complex video *** approach achieves state-of-the-art performance on the datasets of UCF101(85.3%)and HMDB51(54.5%).

Spatiotemporal evolution of thermo-hydro-mechanical-chemical processes in cemented paste backfill under interfacial loading

Cemented paste backfill(CPB)and rock interface interaction causes the formation of an interfacial loading and affects the thermal,hydraulic,mechanical,and chemical processes in bulk CPB and thus its in-situ *** this study,a new meter-sized column model is developed to systematically investigate the multiphysics processes in CPB under interfacial *** obtained results discover that for the mechanical process,the interfacial loading leads to a reduced settlement and a weakened stress level in *** the hydraulic process,lower matric suction and smaller moisture content coexist in CPB under interfacial *** the thermal process,the interfacial loading weakens the porosity-dependent thermal conduction and causes retardation in temperature variation relative to the ambient *** the chemical process,weakened cement hydration with smaller electrical conductivity was observed in CPB under interfacial ***,the obtained results reveal the linkage between the interfacial loading and multiphysics processes in CPB and thus contribute to an in-depth understanding of the multiphysics behavior of CPB in underground mines.

Machine components and systems, such as gears, bearings, pipes, cutting tools and turbines, may experience various types of faults, such as breakage, crack, pitting, wear, corrosion. If not being properly monitored and treated, such faults can propagate and lead to machinery perfor- mance degradation, malfunction, or even severe compo- nent/system failure. It is significant to reliably detect machinery defects, evaluate their severity, predict the fault propagation trends, and schedule optimized maintenance and inspection activities to prevent unexpected failures. Advances in these areas will support ensuring equipment and production reliability, safety, quality and productivity.

Induction motors （IMs） are commonly used in various industrial applications. To improve energy con- sumption efficiency, a reliable IM health condition moni- toring system is very useful to detect IM fault at its earliest stage to prevent operation degradation, and malfunction of IMs. An intelligent harmonic synthesis technique is pro- posed in this work to conduct incipient air-gap eccentricity fault detection in IMs. The fault harmonic series are syn- thesized to enhance fault features. Fault related local spectra are processed to derive fault indicators for IM air- gap eccentricity diagnosis. The effectiveness of the pro- posed harmonic synthesis technique is examined experi- mentally by IMs with static air-gap eccentricity and dynamic air-gap eccentricity states under different load conditions. Test results show that the developed harmonic synthesis technique can extract fault features effectively for initial IM air-gap eccentricity fault detection.

In the present study,the hydrolysates generated via autohydrolysis of spruce wood chips were di-rectly used as feedstock for producing *** in-situ polymerization of acrylamide(AM)and lignocellulose(LC)of hydrolysates was successfully *** reaction was optimized to generate lignocellulose-acrylamide(LC-AM)with the highest molecular weight(41,060 g/mol)and charge density(-0.25 meq/g)under the optimum conditions,which were 3 h,60◦C,4%(w)initiator based on the dried mass of hydrolysate,and an AM/LC molar ratio of 5.63.A nuclear magnetic resonance(NMR)spectroscopy confirmed the grafting of acrylamide on *** prop-erties of LC-AM were characterized by the elemental analyzer,zeta potential analyzer,gel per-meation chromatography(GPC),and particle charge detector(PCD).The LC-AM was applied as a coagulant for removing ethyl violet dye from a simulated dye *** results indicated that 47.2%dye was removed from the solution at a low dosage of 0.2 g/*** dual flocculation of LC-AM with other polymers for dye removal is suggested to further improve its effectiveness.

Winding/unwinding system control is a very important issue to web handling machines. In this paper, a novel adaptive H∞ control strategy is developed for winding process control. A gain scheduling scheme is proposed based on a neural fuzzy approximator to improve the transient response and enhance tension control;the controller’s convergence and adaptive capability can be further improved by an efficient hybrid training algorithm. The effectiveness of the proposed adaptive H∞ control is verified by experimental tests. Test results show that the developed gain approximator can adaptively accommodate parameter variations in the system and improve the control performance.

Surface active agents(surfactants)are chemicals that can accumulate at the surface of a liquid,or interface between two phases with the role of changing the surface tension of the *** on their structures,they have many applications in industries,such as the petroleum,mining,pulping and textiles,wherein they are utilized as detergents,wetting agents,emulsifiers,foaming agents and *** of commonly used surfactants are oil-based ***,using environmentally friendly feedstocks to produce surfactant is desirable to lessen the environmental impact of surfactant production and use in *** is an attractive candidate for this purpose as it is inexpensive and readily *** and lignin derivatives,such as lignosulfonates,can be chemically modified to produce surfactants with different chemical and physical properties,which makes them suitable for a wide variety of *** lignin types and the processes performed for lignin production affect the properties of generated lignin significantly,which in turn influence the reactivity and the efficiency of the reaction for surfactant *** this review,the characteristics and applications of oil-based surfactants,and the efforts to produce lignin-based surfactants are *** oil-based surfactants with altered properties are available in the market,several different pathways can be followed for producing lignin-based *** advantages and disadvantages of using lignin-based surfactants are also discussed.
