MMP-8 analysis in gingival crevicular fluid using ELISA and novel chair-side test

AIM: To validate accuracy of a novel chair-side test for matrix metalloproteinase(MMP)-8 as compared to enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay(ELISA) in Periodontal health and ***: Gingival crevicular fluid was collected from 150 subjects, Group 1(healthy)- 50 subjects, Group 2(gingivitis)- 50 subjects and Group 3(chronic periodontitis)- 50 subjects. A chair-side test strip was indigenously prepared using polyclonal antibodies(principle of immunochromatography) to detect the MMP-8 levels. The detection accuracy(sensitivity and specificity) of the MMP-8 levels by chair-side test kit were compared with ELISA at baseline and 3 mo after scaling and root planing among the study ***: The novel chair side test detected MMP-8 levels in accordance with ELISA which at baseline were higher in Group 2 and Group 3 as compared to controls(P indian population provided a strong rationale for us to develop our chair-side test strips to suit our economy. BACKGROUND Mesenchymal stromal cell(MSC)-based cellular therapy promotes type I collagen production,enhance mechanical strength of tissues,and enhance biology at the bone-tendon interface,which primarily explains their potential clinical utility in rotator cuff(RC)*** To analyze the efficacy and safety of cellular therapy utilizing MSCs in the management of RC tears from clinical studies available in the *** We conducted independent and duplicate electronic database searches including PubMed,Embase,Reference Citation Anallysis,Web of science,and Cochrane Library in August 2021 for studies analyzing the efficacy and safety of cellular therapy(CT)utilizing MSCs in the management of RC *** Analog Score(VAS)score for pain,American Shoulder and Elbow Surgeons(ASES)score,Disability of the Arm,Shoulder,and Hand score,Constant score,radiological assessment of healing,and complications such as retear rate and adverse events were the outcomes *** was performed in R-platform using OpenMeta[Analyst]*** Six studies involving 238 patients were included for *** noted a significant reduction in VAS score for pain at 3 mo(weighed mean difference[WMD]=-2.234,P<0.001)and 6 mo(WMD=-3.078,P<0.001)with the use of CT,which was not maintained at long-term follow-up(WMD=-0.749,P=0.544).Concerning functional outcomes,utilization of CT produced a significant shortterm improvement in the ASES score(WMD=17.090,P<0.001)and significant benefit in functional scores such as Constant score(WMD=0.833,P=0.760)at long-term ***,we also observed significantly improved radiological tendon healing during the longterm follow-up(odds ratio[OR]=3.252,P=0.059).We also noted a significant reduction in the retear rate upon utilization of CT in RC tears both at short-(OR=0.079,P=0.032)and long-term(OR=0.434,P=0.027)*** did not observe any significant increase in the adverse events directly related to cellular therapy,as comp

Mineralization and Availability of Azolla and Cyanobacteria Biomass Nutrients in Rice Soil

Two sets of experiments were conducted to study the chemical composition, mineralization and availability of nutrients (particularly N) of Azolla biomass and cyanobacteria blooms in submerged rice soil. One set of experiment was conducted with Azolla without soil and the other with both Azolla and cyaobacteria with soil, in laboratory condition. Large samples were collected from the rice fields. The study shows that Azolla and cyanobacterial biomass contain good amounts of C, N, P and Ca. The chemical analysis of oxidizable C, total N, P and Ca showed that Azolla biomass contain 20.7% oxidizable C, which is higher than the cyanobacterial biomass (9.18%). The N content in Azolla biomass was found to be 4.32%, than that of cyanobacterial biomass, i. e., 2.57%, however, P and Ca contents were also found to be higher in Azolla averaging to 124.83 ppm and 345.3 mg/100 g, respectively than cyanobacteria. The leachate analysis revealed that Azolla biomass release about 39.18% to 64.48% oxidizable C and about 19.23% to 33% N after 45 days of incorporation of soil dilution. Incorporation of Azolla and cyanobacterial biomass N@100 kg/ha significantly improved the oxidizable organic C, total as well as available N content in soil up to 75 days of incubation. Due to the incorporation of Azolla in soil, oxidizable organic C increased 25.51%, total N 4.10% and available N 47.65%. Almost similar trend of increase was also observed with the incorporation of cyanobacterial blooms.

A rapid, efficient, and facile synthesis of an assortment of C-2 substituted imidazopyrazines has been achieved by utilizing the palladium catalyzed Suzuki cross-coupling of 2-bromo-1H-imidazo[4,5-b]pyrazine with various boronic acids under microwave irradiation. The utilization of（A-^（ta）phos）_2PdCl_2 as a catalyst in combination with Cs F as base and DME-H_2O（4：1） as the solvent system at 100℃ procured the diaryls in acceptable to excellent yields. Prominent features of this developed methodology include short reaction times, fewer side products, and exceptional tolerance to a wide variety of functional groups.

Removal and recovery of toxic nanosized Cerium Oxide using eco-friendly Iron Oxide Nanoparticles

Increasing applications of metal oxide nanoparticles and their release in the natural environment is a serious concern due to their toxic ***,it is essential to have eco-friendly solutions for the remediation of toxic metal oxides in an aqueous *** the present study,eco-friendly Iron Oxide Nanoparticles(IONPs)are synthesized using solvothermal technique and successfully characterized using scanning and transmission electron microscopy(SEM and TEM respectively)and powder X-Ray diffraction(PXRD).These IONPs were further utilized for the remediation of toxic metal oxide nanoparticle,i.e.,*** experiments were also performed in complex aqueous solutions and real water samples to check its applicability in the natural *** study was performed to show *** show that these 200 nm-sized spherical IONPs,as revealed by SEM and TEM analysis,were magnetite(Fe3O4)and contained short-range crystallinity as confirmed from XRD *** experiments show that the composite follows the pseudosecond-order kinetic *** k>0.99 for Langmuir sorption isotherm suggests chemisorption as probable removal mechanism with monolayer sorption of Ce02 NPs on *** than 80%recovery of adsorbed Ce02 NPs through ultrasonication and magnetic separation of reaction precipitate confirms reusability of *** removal%of Ce02 in various synthetic and real water samples was>90%signifying that IONPs are candidate adsorbent for the removal and recovery of toxic metal oxide nanoparticles from contaminated environmental water samples.

Physical Properties and Heat Transfer of Tectona grandis L.f. Wood

Tectona grandis L. f. (teak) is native to the indian subcontinent and southeast Asia, and today is grown in almost every tropical region, for the physical and mechanical properties of its wood. Also, important qualitative aspects render it one of the most expensive wood species in the world. This work presents a study about the physical properties and heat transfer of T. grandis wood from plantations in Caceres, Mato Grosso, Brazil. Six trees planted at three different intervals were used-two from each planting density-selected at random and with good phytosanitary characteristics, as well as having representative diameters and heights. The following properties were determined: basic and apparent densities, volume contraction, heat transfer and fiber saturation point. The basic and apparent mean general density of the samples was 0.48 g/cm3 and 0.55 g/cm3, respectively. The mean volume contraction of the teak wood was 8.57%. With decreased levels of wood humidity, loss of volume and planting effects were not significant at 5% probability. Mean heat transfer was 7.3 h/cm and the wood fiber saturation point was 17.25%, below the range found in literature, and there was no influence of the planting density on this property. According to the results, it was concluded that planting density significantly influenced the base density of the wood; the same effect does not occur for the other physical properties, and with respect to heat transfer, the wood was considered difficult to dry.
