Dynamic Lower-Limb Alignment Focusing on Gait Stability

Introduction: Prosthetic limbs must be developed with proper alignment to facilitate safe and efficient gait patterns. This study aimed to identify factors impacting clinically proper gait patterns by objectively evaluating them in persons with lower-limb amputations who use prosthetic limbs. Materials and Methods: This non-experimental descriptive study assessed 58 persons with amputation who used prosthetic limbs. The mechanical axis angle (MAA) of the lower limb during the heel contact, midstance, and toe-off phases and the angle between the tube and floor during the midstance phase were measured using coronal plane gait images. We also investigated whether the MAA and tube angle during the midstance phase have a multimodal distribution. In case of multimodal distributions, we tested for significant between-group differences in patient characteristics. Results: The MAA and tube angle in the coronal plane during the midstance phase had a bimodal distribution (mean 0°). There was a significant difference in the duration of prosthetic limb use between the MAA < 0° and ≥0° groups during the midstance phase. Deviations in the lower limb MAA between the heel contact and midstance phases were 3.3° ± 2.2° and 3.1° ± 2.3° for persons with lower limb amputations in the MAA Conclusions: In this study, prosthetic alignment during the midstance phase had a bimodal distribution. In both groups, deviations in the lower limb MAA were aligned to be approximately 3°.

Trends toward the globalization of the manufacturing industry and the increasing demands for small-batch,short-cycle,and highly customized products result in complexities and fluctuations in both external and internal manufacturing environments,which poses great challenges to manufacturing ***,recent advances in the Industrial Internet of Things(IIoT)and the widespread use of embedded processors and sensors in factories enable collecting real-time manufacturing status data and building cyber–physical systems for smart,flexible,and resilient manufacturing *** this context,this paper investigates the mechanisms and methodology of self-organization and self-adaption to tackle exceptions and disturbances in discrete manufacturing ***,a general model of smart manufacturing complex networks is constructed using scale-free networks to interconnect heterogeneous manufacturing resources represented by network vertices at multiple ***,the capabilities of physical manufacturing resources are encapsulated into virtual manufacturing services using cloud technology,which can be added to or removed from the networks in a plug-and-play ***,information,and financial assets are passed through interactive links across the ***,analytical target cascading is used to formulate the processes of self-organizing optimal configuration and self-adaptive collaborative control for multilevel key manufacturing resources while particle swarm optimization is used to solve local problems on network ***,an industrial case based on a Chinese engine factory demonstrates the feasibility and efficiency of the proposed model and method in handling typical *** simulation results show that the proposed mechanism and method outperform the event-triggered rescheduling method,reducing manufacturing cost,manufacturing time,waiting time,and energy consumption,with reasonable computational time.T

Influence of Masticatory Functional Loss on the Remodeling of Alveolar Bone in Rats

There is plenty of literature on masticatory function and its impact on maxillofacial development. However, the influence of masticatory hypofunction on bone turnover in the alveolar bone has hardly been studied. This study aimed to clarify the influence of tooth loss and soft diet on the alveolar bone turnover during the growth period. Three-week-old Wistar rats were randomly divided into the following three groups: Hard diet group (rats raised on solid standard diet), Powder diet group (rats raised on powdered standard feed diet), and Extraction group (rats raised on powdered standard diet with maxillary molars extraction). BV, BMC, and BMD in the cancellous bone of M1 were measured using micro-CT analysis. To analyze the histological bone turnover, we prepared non-decalcified thin sections of alveolar cancellous bone when rats were 20 weeks old. On three-dimensional constructed images, the experimental groups (the Powder diet and Extraction groups) showed expansion of the medullary cavity of the interradicular septum of the first molar compared to controls (the Hard diet group). BV, BMC, and BMD were significantly lower in the experimental groups, with the difference from controls being greater in the Extraction group. On histomorphometric analysis, the bone mass parameters, bone formation parameters, and bone mineralization parameters were significantly lower in the experimental groups compared to controls. The bone resorption parameters were significantly higher in the experimental groups. From this study, we found that soft diet and tooth loss might worsen the bone microstructure, reduce osteogenesis, and promote bone resorption in alveolar bone.

Currently,many biometric systems maintain the user’s biometrics and templates in plaintext format,which brings great privacy risk to uses’biometric *** are unique and almost unchangeable,which means it is a great concern for users on whether their biometric information would be *** address this issue,this paper proposes a confidential comparison algorithm for iris feature vectors with masks,and develops a privacy-preserving iris verification scheme based on the El Gamal encryption *** our scheme,the multiplicative homomorphism of encrypted features is used to compare of iris features and their mask ***,this paper improves the Hamming distance of iris features,which makes the similarity matching work better than existing *** results confirm the practicality of our proposed schemes in real world applications,that is,for the iris feature vectors and masks of 2048 bits,nearly 12 comparisons can be performed per second.

This review aimed to determine the prevalence of the insecticide resistance status of the field-collected Aedes(Ae.)aegypti and *** in Malaysia from 2010 to 2022 towards carbamates,organochlorines,organophosphates and *** and environmental controls were summarized with an emphasis on the mosquito vector control strategies in *** information in this review was extracted from several databases such as PubMed(MEDLINE),science Direct and Scopus by using keywords including“insecticide resistance”,“carbamate resistance”,“organochlorine resistance”,“organophosphate resistance”,“pyrethroid resistance”,“Aedes”and“Malaysia”,between January 2022 and December *** of resistant *** and *** in Malaysia was mapped using QGIS *** resistance in both *** and *** is widespread in Malaysia,although the rates vary by *** most notable was the steep increase in permethrin resistance of *** in Selangor,Malaysia,over the past *** also displayed moderate resistance to permethrin,though not as widespread as *** in Selangor,but showed sign of resistance in Sarawak,East *** towards four main classes of insecticides have been widely documented in *** extensive resistance towards permethrin in Malaysia which is one of the current insecticides used in Malaysia suggested that policies supporting the widespread use of permethrin fogging needs further evaluation.

Piezoelectric nanogenerators(PENGs)are promising for harvesting renewable and abundant mechanical energy with high *** to now,published research studies have mainly focused on increasing the sensitivity and output of *** technical challenges in relation to practicability,comfort,and antibacterial performance,which are critically important for wearable applications,have not been well *** overcome the limitations,we developed an all-nanofiber PENG(ANF-PENG)with a sandwich structure,in which the middle poly(vinylidene fluoride-co-hexafluoropropylene(P(VDF-HFP))/ZnO electrospun nanofibers serve as the piezoelectric layer,and the above and below electrostatic direct-writing P(VDF-HFP)/ZnO nanofiber membranes with a 110 nm Ag layer on one side that was plated by vacuum coating technique serve as the electrode *** the ANF-PENG only has 91μm thick and does not need further encapsulating,it has a high air permeability of 24.97 mm/*** nanoparticles in ANF-PENG not only improve the piezoelectric output,but also have antibacterial function(over 98%).The multifunctional ANF-PENG demonstrates good sensitivity to human motion and can harvest mechanical energy,indicating great potential applications in flexible self-powered electronic wearables and body health monitoring.

The game 2048 is a popular and fashionable mobile telephone game, which is characterized by the strong uncertainty. The Monte Carlo Tree Search is always used to be applied for the game search algorithm in the field of the computer games. The basic algorithm is usually divided into four steps: path selection, node expansion, simulation experiment and node update. In the step of path selection, the paper proposes the optimized and improved strategy for selecting nodes based on the UCT algorithm. In the step of simulation experiment, the two effective and heuristic simulation strategies are designed and applied based on the parallel computer games system coded by own self. In the steps of node expansion and node update, the adaptive search strategy is provided to improve the number of search times according to the complexity of the game situations. Through a plenty of experiments, the experimental results show that the provided optimization and improvement algorithm is able to be applied for the game 2048 effectively and practically to reach the senior level finally.

Antipsychotic Medication and Risk of QTc Prolongation: Focus on Multiple Medication and Role of Cytochrome P450 Isoforms

Objective: To identify the effects of antipsychotics on QTc prolongation in light of age, gender, antipsychotic combination pattern, antipsychotic doses and cytochrome P450 (CYP) mediation, using large database describing the antipsychotic treatment of patients with schizophrenia in Japan. Methods: Using database of 4176 patients with schizophrenia discharged between April 2004 and March 2005 and receiving outpatient treatment from 526 psychiatric hospitals in Japan. Of the patients, 1437 were included for the analysis. These patients were classified into three groups according to the antipsychotic CPZ-equivalent doses that they received (low, 1 - 299 mg;middle, 300 - 999 mg;and high, ≥1000 mg). QTc intervals ≥ 440 msec were considered prolonged. We reviewed all the package inserts of the antipsychotics used from the website of Pharmaceuticals and Medical Devices Agency. Results: The mean QTc interval of the total patient group was 410.4 ± 23.3 msec. The females had significantly higher QTc values than the males (414.5 ± 24.0 vs. 406.8 ± 22.2 msec, respectively;p 0.05). Logistic regression analysis revealed that female gender (odds ratio [OR] = 1.83;95% CI: 1.28 - 2.56), CYP3A4-metabolized drugs (OR 1.56;95% CI: 1.05 - 2.30) were associated with an increased risk of QTc prolongation. Conclusion: The co-prescription of CYP3A4-mediated antipsychotic drugs should be carefully considered in females due to potential risk of QTc prolongation. Further studies of the cardiovascular safety of antipsychotics are warranted in patients receiving multiple medications.

Effect of Porosity on the Wind Loads on a Hyperbolic Paraboloid Canopy Roof

A discussion is made of the wind force coefficients for designing the main wind force resisting systems of H.P. （Hyperbolic-Paraboid）-shaped porous canopy roofs on the basis of a wind tunnel experiment. Roof models with a number of small circular holes were made of nylon resin using laser lithography. The porosity was changed from 0 （solid） to 0.4. Besides the porosity, the geometric parameters of the models were the rise to span ratio and slope of the roof. The overall aerodynamic forces and moments acting on a model were measured by a six-component force balance in a turbulent boundary layer. The results indicate that the porosity significantly reduces the wind loads. The design wind force coefficients for porous canopy roofs can be provided by those for solid roofs with the same configuration multiplied by a reduction factor. The proposed wind force coefficients are verified by a comparison of the load effect predicted by the proposed wind force coefficients with the maximum load effect obtained from dynamic analyses using the time history of wind force and moment coefficients. The axial forces induced in the columns supporting the roof are regarded as the load effect for discussing the design wind loads.

Effects of Elasticity on Wall Shear Stress in Patient-Specific Aneurysm of Cerebral Artery

The behavior of wall shear stress (WSS) was previously reported in a deformable aneurysm model using fluid-structure interactions. However, these findings have not been validated. In the present study, we examined the effect of elasticity (i.e., deformation) on wall shear stress inside a cerebral aneurysm at the apex of a bifurcation using particle image velocimetry in vitro. The flow model simulated a human patient-specific aneurysm at the apex of the bifurcation of the middle cerebral artery. Flow characteristics by wall elasticity were examined for both elastic and non-deformable aneurysm models with pulsatile blood flow. The absolute temporally- and spatially-averaged WSS along the bleb wall was smaller in the elastic model than that in the non-deformable model. This small WSS may be related to attenuation of the WSS. Further, the WSS gradient had a finite value near the stagnation point of the aneurysm dome. Finally, the WSS gradient near the stagnation point was slightly smaller in the elastic model than that in the non-deformable model. These data suggest that elasticity of the aneurysm wall can affect the progression and rupture of aneurysms via hemodynamic stress.
